If you've ever watched movies such as Sunset Boulevard, Chinatown or LA Confidential and wished you could step into that gorgeous, Los Angeles style for a little while and experience its smooth, sun-soaked luxury for yourself, this is your chance.
Inspired mostly by movies of LA in the seventies and completed by some Catalan design classics, the Cadaques Apartment just wraps you in understated glamour and sophistication. The apartment's mellifluous blend of white, ochre and sandy hues create a surreal, serene atmosphere, brightened up by splashes of green from palms and other tropical plants.
The property (85 sq mtrs / 915 sq ft) features several Catalan design classics from the sixties and seventies, such as the Cadaques sofa by Alfonso Mila and the famous Cesta lamp by Miguel Mila, made of heat curved cherry wood around an opal crystal ball. The floor lamp is also by Miguel Mila and is considered one of the most celebrated pieces of Spanish design.
From the couch, you look out onto a private inner courtyard of 40 sq metres (430 sq ft). Interior and exterior blend into one, as the rear wall is entirely glass and the private courtyard is basically an extra room, with its wooden deck and reed canopy for extra privacy and filtered sunlight.
There is a separate dining area next to the open kitchen, which is fully equipped with top-end appliances, excellent for creating suave dinners and classy canapes. Next to the kitchen is a separate laundry room.
The bedrooms both look out onto the courtyard through breezy white sheers. One of the bedrooms is separated from the living room by a sliding wall. The king-size beds are covered with high quality linens and come with a selection of firm and soft pillows. Both have en-suite bathrooms with luxury showers and big, soft towels, fitting for a movie star.
The apartment is located just steps away from both the Eixample district with its Gaud-architecture and the cool boutiques that are tucked away in the narrow, ancient streets of the Gothic quarter.
