I've lived in apartments all over the world in my work as a travel writer and I've chosen my favorite rentals based on what I know travelers enjoy. Each apartment has a magnificent view and is located in a real neighborhood close to (but not in the middle of) all the major attractions. It is my dream that by living "locally", travelers will return home with a better understanding of this magnificent country and the people who live in it. In this flat you get the best of all worlds. Breathtaking views in real neighborhoods just moments for all the major attractions. And no carpet salesmen!
I love this 2 bedroom flat with its stunning view and central location. This flat is the perfect home for those with an artist and/or musician soul as it has a bohemian feel with its eclectic combination of antiques, Turkish art and rugs, beautiful wood floors and windows, and modern conveniences. When you're "home" here, you'll have absolutely no doubt what city you are in from your front row seat with a cinematic view of Sultanahmet's mosques and palaces spread out before you.
This air conditioned flat is supplied with luxury linens, dishes, pots and pans, stereo, musical cd's,...everything you need to feel at home. Also digital tv, wireless internet, telephone, dishwasher and washing machine. It is comfortable and enchanting in ambiance. Sitting in the living room, at the dining room table, or on the Ottoman couch is like being at a wide-screen showing of Arabian Nights.
The neighborhood is 2 blocks from the ancient Galata Tower in what is perhaps the most interesting historical neighborhood in all of Istanbul...Just 2 blocks to restaurants, night life, Istanbul's musical shopping area, and moments to all the top touristic sites.
From the apartment you can walk to Tunel where Istanbul's best restaurants and shopping are located. It is also where the world's oldest funicular still operates, and where you can catch the old trolley to take you through the heart of Istanbul's commercial and entertainment pedestrian boulevard - Istiklal Avenue.
You can easily walk down the hill and across the Galata Bridge (past the fishermen) over the Bosphorus to the old city of Sultanahmet. Or hop on the tram and be there in minutes.
This penthouse at the top of a 6 story historical walkup. There is no elevator. Once you are in the flat, you'll be floating above it all as if on a magic carpet with a cinematic view of mosques, castles, ships, Galata Tower, and more. I doubt there is a better view in all of Istanbul. AND you'll be in one of Istanbul's most delightful neighborhoods, just blocks from the historic Tunel district with the cities best restaurants and nightlife.(and you can eat all the Turkish Delight you want and not gain a pound!)
One of the bedrooms has spot on views of Galata Tower, and the other , a suite, has a panoramic view of the Bosphorus and Sultanahmet.
This flat is one-of-a-kind. You will love it.
