We were delighted with this accommodation. It far exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort, furnishings and location. The fully equipped kitchen was first rate, and we appreciated their stocking the fridge with breakfast goodies, including gluten-free bread! The bed was very comfortable. The private terraced garden was enchanting. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and we would love to stay here when next we visit Victoria.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

As expected, our return visit to Waterloo Gardens was everything we knew it would be - and more, given that this time we came in spring rather than winter. Cathie and Ron, our amicable hosts, made sure our settling in period went smoothly. From there, they offered suggestions and bonhomie as we passed in the garden. The suite is so well appointed and laid out that we wonder why we ever thought we needed a larger house! The wonderful light which pours out through the two large windows makes the space warm and inviting. And the view from those windows! Every day another blossom came to life, filling the garden with colour and fragrance. The suite is very quietly tucked away from the bustle of the city but the proximity to all that Victoria has to offer makes it an ideal location, regardless of what your plans are. We highly recommend Waterloo Garden Suite. Our only concern is that it may become too popular and we won't be able to return. Our 17 day retreat from Cold,Snowy,Alberta. We received an early welcome by host, Cathie, who introduced us into a Bright, Highly furnished Suite. In no time we felt the real 'HOME' atmosphere, which we both"LOVED". Looking out a large front window a Picturesque view, of Beautiful Landscaped Gardens surrounded by Old MagesticTrees alive with Birds and Squirrels. Words alone cannot describe the "Beauty" of this Garden Suite and the "Hospitality" of Ron and Cathie. I certainly hope to return again someday to enjoy the Quiet and Beauty of this Suite. Thank-You, H+HRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear H&H! Having wonderful guests like you sure makes my job easy! We are pleased you enjoyed your stay here and it was apparent, from the moment you stepped foot into the suite, that it was going to be "your home" while you were here. Thanks for taking such lovely care of it too! You are welcome back anytime! I know you would love to marvel in the garden during the summer or fall too, so be sure to come back to see how things look during those times too!

I had the most lovely month-long stay at the Waterloo Gardens this past June. It was exactly what I imagined it to be by the reviews; a tranquil setting to relax from the hustle and bustle of life. The pictures online honestly could not convey how beautiful the garden actually is. I sat out on the private patio most evenings struck by the serene landscape (they have great eye for their garden.) The bed was, by far, one of the most comfortable I ever had the experience to sleep in (the sheets and pillows were of five-star quality - making it really difficult to get out of bed by the way!) Everything you would ever want or need are provided within the suite; including travel mugs, food containers, etc. The apartment was just the cutest. Perfect for a single or a couple and decorated like a boutique hotel! I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. In fact, as a single female guest, it was nice to have Ron and Cathie check in on me to see that I was enjoying myself! On top of being just total sweethearts, Ron and Cathie helped me map out touring the island (actually going so far as to print out a map for me!) Did I mention they make the most delicious home-made bread and jellies? I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the island. Absolutely true professionals with the greatest attention for detail!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Awwww shucks Jessica...you made me cry a little. We enjoyed having you stay here. You are welcome back anytime! We are so pleased that you enjoyed the spaces, both inside and outside. The garden looks spectacular now, so maybe you need to come back!? take care and thanks for such a great review! Cathie & Ron

We stayed for 3 nights in May. The place may only be 500 sq feet, but so well laid out, it felt extremely comfortable. The place is soundproofed, so you never hear anyone nearby. Lots of windows, so it felt very bright and setting (opens to the backyard) is very private. They have used top line everything to create this space, from cookware, beds, appliances, even drawers. We ate in every meal, and the kitchen had more than space and provisions to make it easy.. Location is good - close to grocery stores (we walked more than once) and restaurants, and there is a direct bus route to downtown if you to go there without worrying about parking downtown. Much though and care has gone into the suite and when we return to Victoria we will definitely come back here and would recommend it to friends in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Wowee, we couldn't have said it better ourselves-thanks you guys!!! When you take the time to design a space that you would want to spend time in yourself, it is nice to hear how much people enjoy and appreciate our efforts. You are welcome back anytime !!!

We spent a lovely 4 days in Victoria, and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Waterloo Gardens. It's a very chic little place - the photos are spot-on for its cute factor. Cathy gave us great tips on dinner options (every single meal was excellent), helped us book tickets for a play, and more. We would recommend the bike rental downtown, as the cycling is wonderful, and beach walking fantastic. The bus stop to downtown is less than a 1/4 mile away, which was handy, since we didn't rent a car. The airport shuttle delivered us right to the doorstep, and picked up there as well (make sure you give them the address, and a cross street). We thoroughly enjoyed the sights of Victoria, then savored our quiet and private accommodations at Waterloo Gardens. Cathy thoughtfully left us a snack to enjoy after our late arrival, and even a bottle of wine with which to celebrate our 25th! This is a gem! Thanks for helping make our getaway extra special, Cathy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Cathie and Ron (and sister Marilyn) must be Victoria's best hosts! Fresh flowers. Homemade jam and scones in the fridge. Two kinds of coffee beans. Every conceivable comfort is provided...and then some! The beautiful location is a small, private paradise. Waterloo Garden is something special - the kind of vacation rental I've always dreamed of finding. Above all, we appreciate the exceptional efforts of Cathie, Ron and Marilyn to accommodate us in the face of a booking mix-up. They took lemons and made...champagne. We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Waterloo Garden. It provided us with an excellent base for discovering Victoria and its surrounding area - and left us wanting more! Looking forward to our next visit...it can't come soon enough!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We thrive on making each guests experience one to remember and it sure feels good to get such wonderful feedback-thanks! You are welcome back anytime and thank you for your understanding re: booking mix up. We are so pleased it worked out and are happy that Marilyn was here in our absence.

My wife and I stayed here for three days in August. We could easily have stayed much longer. The suite is located above a lovely garden that has been very skillfully built and carefully maintained. The suite is very quiet. Everything you need is here. And it has a washer and dryer! It's not in downtown Victoria, but one quickly finds out the best routes to get downtown in minutes. ---By the way, "Not in downtown Victoria" is a compliment. One can plunge into the tourist maelstrom, or choose to retreat and cook one's own dinner. Ron and Cathy are wonderfully thoughtful and energetic. When we first arrived, they showed us the grounds and explained the story of their building. (Ask Ron about the lovely screen shielding the potting shed from view. Light yet astonishingly sturdy.) They were very accomodating, but never intrusive. We like to cook, so we were happy to see the utensils, etc. were more than adequate. We didn't eat in the neighborhood, which is mostly suburban. But driving to some of the better places in Victoria was very easy. In fact, all the better (non tourist-overwhelmed) restaurants seemed to be on streets either coming or going to the property. All in all, a real find at a very fair price. I'd especially recommend it for longer stays.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
