  This cozy Cottage is ideal for families of various ages (in our case, 2 grandparents, son, daughter-in-law, and a 13-year-old grandson). It is far enough back from the highway to avoid noise and danger. Close to the beach by a very short walk in either direction. The kids had a ball with boogie boarding, sand castle building, surf lessons, and general beach sports. The xlnt Waimea Bay Botanic Garden is within a mile of the Cottage. We spent a full day there. This is 5-star "Bot" compared to the barely 2-star Foster Garden in Honolulu, and is right down the street! General admission is a bit high at $15, but senior tickets are just $7.50. There’s a waterfall and swimming hole at the end of the trail, so bring a swimsuit. Free access is included with your admission ticket. Lifeguards are on duty and life vests are provided. The big Foodland market is within walking distance of the Cottage. Nearby historic Haleiwa proved to be a fun town for a day's visit. Kaneohe and Kailua are a lovely scenic drive along the east coast, another fine day trip. We loved watching and photo'ing the intrepid surfers riding the world famous waves. Sections of beach with dangerous undertow conditions are clearly posted. The Cottage amenities include a new BBQ grill, which was great for family dinners of steaks and chops. Lots of extra beach towels and boogie boards were a welcome addition to the other household supplies. The garden around the squeaky clean Cottage is lovely and restful. The sound of the surf at night lulls you to sleep. Three little green geckos kept watch over the house while we enjoyed the many attractions on the island during the day. We all achieved our R&R goal at the Cottage, although I confess to doing some work on my forthcoming (April 2012) book "Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease: The Infection Connection." We were thankful for the strong WiFi connection that made this work possible, as well as keeping in touch by email with family and friends on the mainland. The week went by far too quickly! Thanks to the owners, who went the extra mile to make sure our stay was trouble-free and wonderful.

  A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights just to relax, and the cottage worked out well. The garden adjacent to the house is beautiful and we spent every night sitting out on the deck barbecuing. Appliances and furniture are all newish and in good shape, and the place was clean. It's a great location, you can walk to Waimea Bay within 5 minutes and to Foodland in even less than that. There were a couple of things that an earlier, overzealously negative reviewer pointed out, that are true. 1) There is a fair bit of road noise. I stayed in one of the rear bedrooms (far from the road) and traffic woke me up with the windows open. I could still hear it with the windows closed. 2) There isn't a ton of privacy in the bedrooms. The two rear bedrooms are separated by a sliding door, and the front bedroom is separated from the living room by a sliding door. I think this would be fine for a family or a boys/girls trip, but perhaps not the best setup for couples traveling together.. While these weren't a big deal for us, it's certainly something to think about

  Wow! Our family with 3 little girls stayed in the cottage. Literally, a 3 min. walk to a beautiful swim beach and a 5 min. walk to world famous Waimea. We can't say enough about the cleanliness and location of the cottage. 5 minute walk to Foodland. Our kids especially liked the outdoor shower with hot running water. You've got it all right there. We'll be back!

  Six of us had a great stay at the Waimea Bay Beach Cottage in mid June. Though compact, it's well laid out and is very clean and well-maintained. I knew the cottage was in a convenient location, but hadn't appreciated just how convenient till we got there. It was nice to just leave the car parked for a while and have Three Tables Beach one direction (it actually is as close as advertised!) and Waimea Bay an easy walk the other direction. We also walked to Shark's Cove. It was also great to walk to Foodland and use the BBQ and well-stocked kitchen at the cottage to do meals at home. The outdoor shower was a nice touch and we used it a lot coming back from the beach. Though our 6 people were not made up of three couples, the plentiful linens etc. made for flexible arrangements. A note about Three Tables Beach -- I hadn't heard much about this one before and thought it might be rocky and limited in recreational value. Not so. When the waves calmed down, I enjoyed the snorkeling here just as much if not more so than at Shark's Cove. When the summer swell was up, it was good for wave play and swimming. I would recommend this cottage to friends.

  Very nice clean cottage. So close to Waimea bay and food shopping. Owners were always available by email or phone. We had a great time and I would not hesitate to rent again. Thanks

  My husband, teenage daughter , father-in-law, and I stayed here for a long weekend in April. It is a very nice house with plenty of room to spread out. Each of had our own room with good airflow. The beds are comfortable. The dividing wall between the two rooms worked fine for us. If you are looking for romance privacy this might be a problem ,but with the family of four it wasn't an issue. The kitchen and house was well stocked. however just know there is no drawer space but large walk in closets to hang things. Lots of beach supplys and a cooler was very handy.they house is located between two great beaches and not far from lots of activities and restaurants.the house sits just behind a gate and a major road runs in front. The noise did not bother us as our own house sits just up from a main street also. With the gate closed the noise was greatly reduced. We really liked staying here and would recommend it to others.

  My family rented the cottage as one of our homes-away-from-home during our daughter's wedding at Turtle Bay in April 2012. The cottage was very conveniently located between the wedding activities at Turtle Bay and Haleiwa. Its proximity (walking distance) to Waimea Beach,Three Tables, Foodland, and Starbucks afforded us the comforts of home and the luxury of a vacation. The amenities at the cottage were comparable to other homes and the pricey hotels. Though close to the highway, the cottage was quiet and peaceful. The place was clean and well kept but the best part of all was when we asked the owner what the rules and regulations were for our stay, his response was "Treat our home as you would your own." Such a welcoming attitude is priceless!!! We are definitely coming back :)

  My fiancee and I rented the cottage for a getaway with my sister and her husband. We had a great time and really enjoyed having the cottage as our base for the vacation. The size was perfect for 2 couples, especially with 2 bathrooms. We cooked breakfast each morning before exploring the island and had most of our dinners using the BBQ on the porch. The cottage is walking distance to FoodLand, not to mention Waimea Bay and 3 Tables. We loved the location and would definitely return. The cottage and grounds are well maintained and it was super convenient to have the washer and dryer. We spent a lot of time in Haleiwa...you have to go to Matusmoto's for shave ice! We highly recommend staying here. Andy made everything so easy!

  I'll start by saying that I strongly disagree with previous reviewer Zeke's assessment of this vacation rental. My family and I stayed at the Waimea Bay Beach Cottage for 1 week during the end of February. The owners were pleasant and easy to deal with. The property was spotless, bright, well-appointed, private, and very comfortable. The cottage has a solid wi-fi connection and is fully equipped with all major electronic gadgets. The location is excellent, truly just a few steps from Waimea Bay on one side and Three Tables Beach on the other. We walked to the supermarket and Starbucks everyday--extremely convenient. You can hear the ocean from pretty much every room in the cottage, and the deck with a grill is lovely. All in all an excellent experience and I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit the North Shore of Oahu.

  I would not recommend the Waimea Cottage to anyone. Our family of 4 stayed there over Spring Break. This property is grossly misrepresented in the listing. Specifically, the listing states that the cottage has “recently been completely refurbished”. While it was clean, it was certainly run down. A deck in need of repair, small, old bath tubs with chips and missing enamel are just two examples of this misrepresentation. The listing states they have “all new appliances” yet the fridge was rusty with Broken shelves. The listing also states there is a beautiful garden surrounding the cottage (which) gives it lots of privacy. While there is a garden and its beauty is subjective it is important to note that the picture showing the garden is taken from the other house on the property giving the illusion that there is path through the garden leading somewhere (to the ocean we thought) which is not the case. The feature listing states that a “full kitchen” exists. For the owners, a full kitchen does not include a dishwasher something we expected, especially at this price point. The feature listing also indicates the presence of an icemaker which technically may be true since there are 2 ice cube trays but certainly that seems to misrepresent what a reasonable person would expect an icemaker to be. The biggest disappointment however had to be the fact that this is represented as a 3 bedroom location. While the Futon room is accurately represented, the other two bedrooms most certainly are not. The second and third bedrooms depicted are actually only one room with two queen beds separated by a sliding louvered door identical to what is separating the futon room form the living room. This does not offer anything close to the privacy one would expect from a bedroom. Finally, it also worth pointing out that the cottage sits a mere 25 – 30 feet from the highway which is tremendously busy starting at 5:00 / 5:30 AM. Yes, you are only 100 steps from the three tables beach but things have changed in the past few years and the bus stop at three tables appears to be a gathering place for the drug trade. If you want to stay on the North Shore there are other, far superior places to stay and I would recommend staying North of Sharks Cove.

  Owner response: We take tremendous pride in maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of both of our homes and we take customer service and all reviews very seriously. This is the ONLY negative review we have ever received in 5 years! Please read ALL our other reviews for other guest's thoughts on this beach cottage. Since this review, we have updated our listing information, repaired the deck, re-enamaled the bath tubs and re-painted the interior. A new refrigerator has been ordered even though the current one works perfectly. We have had hundreds of guests stay here over the years and this is the first time someone has complained about these issues. This review is clearly exaggerating issues with the intention to scare people. The cottage sits over 100 feet from the highway! We welcome all your questions and look forward to ensuring your positive experience when you stay with us.
