If you are looking for a great vacation with your dog, this is the place to stay. This house is clean and comfortable and has a great hot tub on the deck. We had plenty of room for a great family vacation in the Rocky Mountains in the spring.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

So..... this place is my home away from home in the winter. Great location (close to the free Vail bus stop), heated driveway, garage to park my car, hot tub, washer/dryer, sweet jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom, wood buring fireplace, wireless internet, flat screen TV, bed/bedding is comfortable, great views of the valley and all appliances needed in the kitchen. Billy is great to work with and attends to all of my needs immediately. Everything is labeled so there is no questioning anything and dogs are allowed! I will continue to stay here during my Colorado getaways until I purchase a place of my own!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The rental was exacty as described in the listing. The owner was responsive and refunded our security deposit promptly. It is just down the street from the town of Vail bus, the deck is great and the interior worked very well for us. Only negatives, would be the parking is tough when all three units are occupied, and the set-up of the upstairs shower makes it very hard to turn on without getting wet. Overall these were very minor issues and we would not hesitate to stay here again, especially when traveling with a pet.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was exceptionally clean and the owner was great to work with. The weather was very cold and the garage had some problems which were weather related and quickly fixed. The upstairs king bed was a little uncomfortable, but the owner said it was being replaced by a new bed. The owner really wants to please and it's evident from the property. The location is great. We definitely would stay here again.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: The day this guest checked out we replaced the mattress with a brand new Sealy posturepedic Langley Plush King Mattress.

Great location. Easy to find. Generally a nice place. Very helpful and responsive owner/management team. All the beds in the house were very uncomfortable. The beds provided no support, they were lumpy, saggy, and curved so that when 2 people are sleeping in the bed you are sleeping at an angle. Very thin mattresses. Couch is also very uncomfortable with no support. I find it weird that for the amount of money you pay to stay here, little thinks like soaps and shampoos are not provided. I was also very disappointed that for the amount of money you pay in addition to a a cleaning fee, you as the guest are asked to strip the beds, take out the trash, wipe down areas of the house, etc. Being asked to complete a check list of cleaning may be understandable if you as a guest had been disrespectful of the "no house party" rule and trashed up the place - but as respectful guests that follow the very extensive rule book provided being asked to perform house cleaning when already paying a cleaning fee seems inappropriate and unfair to me. Why am I paying a cleaning fee if I as a guest have to do a large portion of the cleaning myself? The bathtub in the upstairs bedroom is a serious hazard. One of the guests fell trying to get in because of the design of the tub. It is a huge, nice looking jacuzzi tub but the tile rim around the tub and the tub rim itself are very wide and the two rims together makes for a very large step into the tub. You have to pick up your entire leg to climb in and reach way over to get in and there are no safety bars or slip prevention mechanisms in place - such as slip pads on the floor of the tub. The guest fell and currently has serious bruises on her legs and shoulders. Also, the faucet and showerheard are blocked by a huge glass wall that cannot be moved so one could reach in and turn it on. Instead, one must climb over the very large rim and get all the way in before being able to turn on the faucet and shower.Owner response: I would like to take the time to thank you for sharing your concerns regarding Larkspur Home. We have received such great feedback since taking over in September 2011 that your review concerns me greatly. I would like to respond to each of your three concerns independently with my plans to repair each situation. First was regarding the comfort of the beds and the couch. After inspecting the mattresses we replaced the master bedroom bed with a brand new Sealy Posturepedic Langley Plush King size mattress. We replaced both pull out sofa mattresses with a high quality memory foam mattress for both the twin & double beds. Regarding the cleaning checklist: When I took over last year, I wanted to make this a rental home that people respected and wanted to return to. We have earned high marks from past guests in regards to the cleanliness of our home. We believe our rates are below average for the area which is why we attract budget minded travelers that still require many of the upscale mountain amenities. In regards to the upstairs bath tub, last year we installed a sturdy safety handle bar to help guests in and out of the jacuzzi tub and have placed a rubber bottom bath mat next to the outside of the tub to help with stability.

This home was perfect for our weekend getaway. The set up was perfect for two couples. We had our privacy when needed and enjoyed our time together in the hot tub and grilling dinners! The location was amazing for the bus line into Vail. We only got back in the car a few times for hiking around the area. The view from the front porch was amazing!! The home was very clean and all instructions for appliances, tv's, etc were very well marked. The owner was extremely great about communicating with me and my first VRBO rental. We will definitely be back to book the entire home for a larger family vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Valley View was a wonderful rental for our time in Vail. It was exactly how it had been described and pictured, and was very clean. It was clear that a lot of care is taken with the property. The owner was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. I would definitely recommend this property, especially as we were able to bring our dogs with us for the weekend.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The unit was very comfortable and the location was great. The renovations were done well. My only criticism would be to replace the toaster. There was a tag on it noting that the middle heating element wasn't working. We would have preferred that it was just fixed or replaced.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: The toaster has been replaced with a brand new Hamilton Beach toaster.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: I split my time between Vail & Austin, TX. I am an avid swing & lindy hop dancer and travel all over the US competing & social dancing. My goal is to some day live in the Vail Valley full time and help build a local dance community. Though my passion is dancing & teaching dance, my career is selling meat or other protein based foods all over the world. I'm fulfilling the destiny of a long line of meat traders from back in the 1930's when my grandfather sold meat for Swift in Chicago. Another passion of mine is snowboarding & telemark skiing, lately it's been all about telemarking.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
I grew up in Kansas and my parents met at CU Boulder. They both have an affinity towards mountain living. Naturally we grew up vacationing in this area and picked Vail because it's one of the best ski resorts in America. We wanted a home centrally located between Vail, Minturn, Beaver Creek, Avon & Edwards making the drive to both ski areas within 10 - 15 minutes. We also enjoy cooking and having Safeway & City Market within a 3 minute drive helps feed our passion.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I wanted to have a place in Vail that was close enough to rely on public transportation to get to the town of Vail but central enough to drive down valley to Avon & Edwards. The home is in a private, residential neighborhood which is close to the park & Stephens Off Leash dog park and a three minutes walk to the Meadow Creek Bus stop that picks up every 15 to 30 minutes depending on the season. The private shared hot tub allows our guests to unwind after a long day of activities. We are dog friendly for non-aggressive breeds.
