This condo was amazing!!!! It was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. It had everything that we needed for our vacation......Tim even supplied a set of binoculars with which to whale watch from the lanaii.....and there was plenty of whale activity going on. This condo by far exceeded our expectations...The views are incredible, you couldn't ask for a better view. From sun up to sun down...we got some beautiful pictures. We enjoyed the BBQ area.....it's a great place to meet people from all over the world and chat while you cook your dinner. We would not hesitate in recommending this condo to anyone and look forward to booking a return vacation. Mahalo Tim

As Good As It Gets

We fell in love with this place. In fact, Mary Ellen says it has set a new standard of excellence for Hawaiian accommodations. I agree. Although the resort is rather average, this unit is first class in every respect and exceeded our expectations. Since we don’t go to the islands for the pool, this condo has it where it counts… the view, the waves, the sunsets, the luxurious and immaculate accommodations… I could go on and on but, if you read the other reviews, you'll see lots more of the same. I’ve recommended this condo to several friends and we have already booked a return stay in September, 2012. As far as we're concerned, this place is as good as it gets.

This was the most amazing condo on Maui. Modern, Clean and the view is like no other. My mother said she had the best birthday celebration ever, she turned 80, she said she has" found heaven". It was hard to leave the view to go anywhere. But the location was perfect for all activities the island has to offer. We will be back for sure! "Mahalo" Tim!

My husband and I visited for a week with our three sons ages 27, 17 and 12. The unit was spacious enough to accomodate us all and had everything we needed. Well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, beach chairs and towels, snorkeling apparatus, internet, TV, central air, etc. It really felt like home away from home. Best of all, the view from the lanaii .... priceless! Gorgeous, breath-taking sunsets very night. Kahana Beach is very peaceful. Many times you have it all to yourself! We slept with the doors open every night and enjoyed the beautiful sound of waves on the beach and wind in the palms. Very relaxing. The condo is located near shopping and only a few minutes from Ka'anapauli (sp?) beach and Laihina. I am anxiously planning our return trip!

Paradise in itself

This was my 4th time staying at the Royal Kahana and this is by far the most fabulous unit there. We love the location because it's quiet, yet close enough to all of the Maui attractions. This unit is spectacular, the lanai was our favorite spot offering stunning views and that calming sound of the waves. The condo was spotless and well appointed with just about everything you could possibly need. The kids 7 and 13 enjoyed the beach and the pool - and I loved the fact that they could wander around the property and I was never concerned for their saftey. I highly recommend both the Royal Kahana and this unit for a wonderful family vacation.

We couldn't have picked a more beautiful condo to stay while in Hawaii celebrating my mom's retirement. The kitchen was well stocked, the furniture was comfortable, and the views are simply fantastic - each sunset was more spectacular than the last. Thanks, Tim!

Anyone vacillating on renting this condo versus staying in a hotel (or even another condo), please do yourself a favor and choose this condo, you will not be disappointed. The condo is beautifully updated with large living spaces but more magnificent is the unbelievable ocean view that is captured from the wall to wall windows. The wrap around lanai is a vacation spot in itself; we were able to view many sunsets and even a few rainbows. Tim has been a pleasure to work with and very prompt to answer all our questions (and then some). Our stay was very enjoyable but more importantly it will be memorable. Tim, Mahalo nui loa

We have been to Maui many times and stayed in various areas on the island but our reason for staying here was the Kahana location. The villa was well appointed and the view was spectacular. The biggest downside was that it was hard leaving the villa to enjoy the various activities we'd planned each day! Sleeping was fantastic with the wonderful ocean breeze and the unit was very roomy for 4 adults. When we visit Kahana next time you can be sure that we will request this villa. Thanks Tim for making our stay superb!!

As Good as it Gets!

This was our first trip to Maui. Also bringing our two kids, we wanted a special place to stay to add to the experience. Of course that meant we had to be on the water which is why we booked this unit. This was also our first VRBO experience so admittedly booking on line one is always a bit leary the first time. After trading a few emails, Tim called us to answer our questions which was a nice personal touch. The view on first opening the door was amazing! We immediately dropped our bags and went onto the lanai. Within a minute we spotted a pod of whales! Talk about a good first impression. The property was exactly as presented on this site. Very clean and modern with all the comforts of home (modern appliances, HD TV, internet, PVR etc.). Tim even provided binoculars to watch the whales and also the green sea turtles that came to feed every day right below our lanai. We started our day on the lanai with coffee and also ended each day there as well. We could not get enough of the incredible view. The location is great, right between Kaanapali and Kapula and only a 10 minute drive to Lahaina where there is great shopping and restaurants all along Front Street. The toughest part of each day was deciding what beach to check out, needless to say we thought they were all great. We took a day long snorkeling tour to Molikini Crater and the island of Lanai. The underwater visibility at the crater was amazing (recommend taking motion sickness pill even if you don't think you need it as you are on the water for approx 7 hours with that trip). Also, the Maui Ocean Center is only 20 minutes away and the kids loved that. You have to do a Luau as well. Not sure the VIP price is worth it, but we enjoyed it none the less. We would recommend reading the guest book when you arrive as previous guests provide some helpful advice on activities (including luau's) and restaurants. Mahalo again Tim, you said we would not be disappointed and you were 100% right. Everything was well organized and we did not have to contact him for anything during our stay. We would not hesitate to recommend this condo to our friends and we will definitely try to come back soon. Our only regret is having only stayed 10 nights and not a few more as it was tough to pack up and leave!

A Piece of Paradise in West Maui

We had tracked hundreds of places on the web and decided on this place for a 15 day trip in Jan. 2011. There is always trepidation when you approach a place for the first time (we have had some bad places in the past that looked good on the web). Well, we were blown away as we entered the condo. There was Lanai and Molokai in a 270 degree panorama of the ocean in a first place edifice with all the upgrades and niceties. If as on cue several whales breached just a couple of hundred yards off shore. When I say on the ocean, I mean on the ocean! You have to go on the Lanai and look over the edge to see the beach or grass. The entire wall is full glass so you could not duplicate this setting. Needless to say we were very pleased and will be back!! Tim was very good to work with as well!! Very Pleased in Maui!

My family and I spent 11 glorious days at the Royal Kahana. Tim was so helpful and we appreciated everything he did for us. Pictures do not do the unit justice! The sweeping, panoramic view is stunning. The condo is perfectly adorned and has all the little special touches you would find at a 5 star resort. Also, everything was provided right down to binoculars and snorkel gear. Even laundry soap! Listening to the waves crash at night was our favorite. It was incredible, as was the whale watching.! Aweson Views, wonderful condo

My wife and I just spent 10 nights at Tim's Kahana condo. This is the nicest place we have stayed in all of our trips to Hawaii. We spent every morning and evening on the lanai with some of the nicest views we have seen. The condo was clean and fully furnished. I would say the pictures do not do it justice. You walk through the front door and all you see is water. At night, we opened all the doors and windows and let the ocean put us to sleep. We would recommend this condo to any of our friends. We ate one dinner at Pineapple Grill and were disappointed. Had breakfast at the Sea House and Honaloa Store, both great, but Sea House is right on the water. Had our last dinner at the Sea House and it was the best of our trip. Even had the same waiter we had in 1996. Our next trip to Maui will be at the Royal Kahana room 610. Thanks Tim.....

Beautiful ocean front unit. Clean, all amenities/appliances available. Central Air conditioning made stay comfortable. Owner very cooperative and communicative/will address questions/concerns/needs. Kahana is a preferable area for a vacation, as it is quiet, and without the congestion of Lahaina, Kaanapali. Condo location is good for any and all areas of interest while on Maui. Would definitely consider staying in this unit again upon return to Maui.

my wife and i recently celebrated out 49th anniversary with a week at this condo. we have stayed in other units at the Royal Kahana before and have no doubt that this is the best. an extensive, high end remodel adds immensly to the prime oceanfront setting. the sixth floor location is high enough that the noise of the waves is not distracting and low enough to let you enjoy what's going on down at the beach. where other complexes are located on sea walls or rocky shore, the Royal Kahana has a long sandy beach. tim, the owner is local and is a pleasure to deal with. we intend to go back during whale watching season. you can sit right in the living room and have a commanding view of the channel where they love to play. FIRST CLASS, ALL THE WAY!

Tim, Brenda & I truly enjoyed our time in Maui and in particular at your condo. We had a relaxing and enjoyable time and would like to return some day soon. The condo had everything you could think of and the view was spectacular and picture perfect. Brenda & I had breakfast out on the lanai every morning and watched the sea turtles near the shore. We watched for the humpback whales every day and on the last full day before departing, pods of whales put on a show that lasted for over two hours. It was amazing. Thanks for your hospitality and your attention to making Brenda & I feel comfortable was greatly appreciated. We would not hesitate to recommend your condo unit to anyone going to Maui. P.s. What a beautiful condo! Luxury to the max. We had coffee on the lanai in the morning and a cool drink in the evening. The hours in between we enjoyed the pool, the beach and the island. The condo was everything we wanted and much more. Hope to return!

We had such a wonderful time in Maui, and this condo was the perfect place to stay. I can't believe it has been almost 3 months since we have been back, but with the below zero temps we are having in Minnesota, I think a lot about the palm trees and ocean just steps from the condo. The inside was decorated very well and the views from the lanai were beautiful. The kids watched the sunset every day from the lanai. We would definitely stay at this condo again as it had everything we needed to enjoy our time on the island.

This condo is first class all the way with a million dollar view! We cooked most of our meals in the beautiful kitchen and enjoyed them on the huge rap around lanai. The bathrooms are very nicely done, with thick turkish towels, right up there with a first class resort, but at a much better price. If you are considering this condo , compare the rate with those of just a room at a hotel at a big, noisy resort that will probably not be oceanfront, but perhaps oceanview. This condo is by far a much better value and you give up nothing but gain so much. I agree with previous guests that Tim is very easy to work with. All questions answered quickly. Try this condo, you will not be disapppointed.

Having never rented from VRBO before, I was slightly hesitant to try. However the pictures and virtual tour were so attractive, I decided to take the chance.Lucky for us!! The condo was even lovelier that the pictures. To see the unit in three dimension with the sun shining on the water in the day and the moon sparkling down at night, along with the calming chant of the ocean hitting the shoreline was truly incredible. We can't wait to return. Tim was great to work with. All my emails and questions were answered promptly.
