This roomy stone house at top of the village has the charm of a 200+ year-old house yet offers modern comforts and conveniences. There's a large covered porch in front, opposite the church: you can hear the beautiful choir voices late Sunday mornings, just barely....
Kitchen is large and well-equipped, dining room faces front porch, as does large sitting room. Library, beyond sitting room, like the kitchen, has doors onto back terrace. Beyond the terrace is a charming walled garden on two levels, which attracts birds and butterflies.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, including huge master bedroom with en-suite bath. There's a second full bath, small library (can sleep a 5th person) and utility room. Bedrooms have magnificent views of the valley and of the Dordogne River.
Windows invite masses of light and offer pleasant views of the garden, the church, the village below and the valley beyond. It's a mere five-minute walk to the bottom of the village, where there's a cafe and baker, and to the riverside where the Dordogne and Vezere meet. It's a delightful, cozy home in a charming village that's close to all the sights of the area.
June 2008 P.S.: The rains (and flooding) have finally stopped, and they've helped to make the Dordogne even more green and beautiful. (My house is at the top of Limeuil, so no problems with record rainfalls, etc.) There is some availability for July and August so do hope you'll consider a delightful week or so in Limeuil! |
