We have been fortunate enough to stay at this home on several occasions. Walking in, you are met by a beautiful rock fireplace with a wood stove insert. The overstuffed leather couch and leather chair with ottoman make it difficult not to sit down when one walks by. The decor is perfect for a cabin on the river. Beds are awesome. They suck you in after a glass of wine and soak in the hot tub on the deck The only thing that makes you get up in the morning is the amazing view as the sunrises over the river. Kitchen is well appointed with enough pots and pans to cook for 20. It is also well stocked with all the necessities (salt, pepper, spices, coffee filters, saran - all the stuff you forget.). Pleanty of big towels for showes and hot tub. We did notice a slight sulphur odor to the water but it cleared up after the first day. 20 min on the dot to Mt. Bachelor. Looking forward to our next stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We recently stayed at this property over the new year. This is one of the most relaxing places I have ever been for a winter stay. The wood burning stove was cozy, the kitchen excellent to cook in, and the hottub in the winter cold could not have been better. We ran into one issue while there with the water because it was so cold, but the owners, and the water pump company responded to it immediately, and we were inconvenienced for less than an hour. We will be back as often as possible, and would reccomend it for anyone looking to relax, or enjoy some winter or summer fun.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

this was a wonderful place, a really good price for all that you get. The bed was super cozy, the hot tub was amazing , quiet street and best of all right on the river. The weather was beautiful snowy and sunny. The only small complaint i had was that we had to go get wood to make a fire because they were all out.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The listing decription was accurate but the listing photos did not reflect the rental's appearance. It needs a thorough deep cleaning. We found it dusty, the front porch hadn't been swept for quite some time and it had globs of dirt from shoes . The kitchen counters weren't even wiped down and the garbage (which should've been picked up the day before) was full. The deck was very nice but is in need of refinishing. The elk out in the front of the house has had its antlers cut off and a stick where they once were. The entire house just needs some TLC. It would've been nice to know about the "sulphur" smell of the water, so we could've brought water to the house. The listing photos show it as being very light inside and we found it quite the opposite with the paneling in all the rooms. We also thought it would be closer to Sunriver Village and their bike paths, and were surprised to find it on a unpaved road The best thing was the very comfortable beds.Owner response: Sadly someone stole the elk antlers :( Most people are delighted at the location on the river and I make a point of letting people know that we are NOT in the Sunriver resort or close to the bike path and we are in fact five minutes DRIVE from those areas. Our emailed information sent out after the booking is made does give information on the water situation.

Very comfortable, clean, and quiet home. Sipping morning coffee while sitting on the dock along the Deschutes was a great way to start the day, and watching shooting stars with a beer in hand was the perfect ending. We walked on the obsidian/lava flow at Paulina Lake, hiked up Mt Scott above Crater Lake (what a view!), and visited with old friends from the area. The house had plenty of room for us (two couples from Pennsylvania), and the cabin was perfect for our son and his girlfriend from Eugene. It was nice to find some basic cooking ingredients available too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Sticking with the "tips and guidelines", I will say the listing was accurate but keep in mind the home is very 1970's on the inside (dark and odd smell) with some updating. The beds were comfy and the best thing about this home is it is right on the Deschutes river with nice dock with bench which is where we spent most of our time when we were at the house. The bunk house can really only sleep two. I don't think the top bunk could sleep anyone, not even a little child since there isn't any head room, but there is a day bed and a bottom bunk with tv. The house was acceptable clean, but it wasn't deep cleaned (dusting, etc) and the sliding glass door off the kitchen doesn't work well and the shower doors are very touchy. One slipped off the rail when it was used during our stay. The biggest issue we had were the bugs both inside and out. I would imagine other homes in the area do something to manage the mosquito/fly infestation, but it was pretty bad. We had some kind of flies in the house, primarily in the showers/bathroom. The other issue for us was the water. The sulphur was not something we were expecting and we did not adapt to that very well. Even after running water longer than normal, and putting it in the fridge, it still had that sulphur taste and smell. This would probably be a good place to stay in the winter. The bugs probably are not much of a problem then and the home does have a very nice Lopi woodstove to keep warm in the winter. Another nice thing is the home is located right outside of Sunriver so you can get away from all the business of the other people on vacation. Don't follow the directions you are given. You will do better to follow the directions on the GPS.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: We had to relocate to California from S. Oregon last year due to the recession and because of that we don't get up to Sunriver every few months as we used to take care of the smaller issues that occur periodically :( We have had no other complaints regarding bugs at the house and have never experienced them ourselves, there is vector control on the river, we will definately look into this. Our guests have been wonderful at keeping us appraised of any issues and we are grateful for all feedback, we usually receive lovely emails after a visit letting us know if there is anything that needs addressing. We have replaced the screen door on the house several times in the last couple of years, but they are not at all sturdy and this has been a very busy summer so we are having a custom screen door made which will probably be installed this week, and will hopefully hold up alot better!

We stayed at the house from August 6- August 11, 2012. It is located in the perfect spot on the Deschutes River. We enjoyed rafting and Bald Eagle sighting while floating down river from our backyard to the Sunriver Marina. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

This house is cute on the inside and is comfortably furnished. The hot tub did not work when we arrived and was not repaired until the afternoon of our last full day. We were never able to use it. In a review dated a year before, the reviewer stated that the screen door in the kitchen was broken - well, it still is. There are also some missing screens at some windows. This meant that we could not open doors and windows to let in fresh air. I think that it has potential - it just needs some maintenance.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My wife, 3yr old son and I stayed 5 days in June 2011. Cozy, clean and comfortable interior. Loved the dock and deck. Peaceful and quiet. Great location near Sunriver amenities and outdoor activities! Several times we parked our truck downriver, biked back to the house and canoed downriver back to the truck. The crystal clear springs entering the Deschutes river are gin clear and amazing. Wonderful times. We'll be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
There is something magical about central Oregon and we feel this every time we come to this house. This is our own vacation home and as such we have tried to provide all the comforts of home both for our own use and our guests. We have teenage children very involved in school and sports activities and we don't spend as much time here as we would like to, therefore we decided to share it. We have had wonderful feedback from all of our guests who obviously feel the same way about this very special spot.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This location provides you with a wonderful feeling of getting away from it all, with just a few minutes to all the amenities Sunriver is known for! Morning coffee on the deck or a glass of wine in the evening is relaxing and the wildlife entertainment is second to none!
