The owner is extremely rude and a poor communicator. We attempted to contact him prior to day of arrival as we could not locate address on GPS or mapquest. but he did not call us back until we arrived in the PA area. We cleaned house and left everything as asked. After our stay, the owner withheld our deposit because he stated we build a snowman on the front of his property and he had to remove it. This has to be the most absurd reason to keep someones deposit. The house was cleaned and left in its original state. He just wanted a reason to keep our deposit. SNOW MELTS! I would never recommend renting from this owner! Extremely bad experience!
Owner response:As stated in the contract, renters MUST leave the property in the condition in which it was received. It also states all bottles and cardboard should be taken with you and that was not the case. There was hair in the bathroom tubs and urine stains on the toilet. I do have pictures which i sent to the client. I am not going to clean up after any renter, it states in the contract that the property must be ready for the next renter. The reason for my complaint about the snowman was because it was covering one of my carved bears that frames my house, which defaced my property. If their was a snowman to be made it should have been done without affecting the property landscape. I have the receipt from the cleaning company showing what was charged to clean the property. Below is a copy of the contract you agreed to. We give tenants the opportunity to clean the house themselves. If they fall short it has to be ready for the new tenants.
