This Tuscan villa apartment made for the perfect bear retreat in South San Francisco! We were minutes from the airport, which added to the excitement and anticipation. The entrance gate opened and we drove into a lovely garden of beautiful flowers on each side of the stone driveway. The owners live on site and met us for a tour before leaving us on our own to enjoy. They were most helpful and so friendly. The grounds are well kept and we had a lovely view of the hot tub and tennis courts.
From the moment we walked through the door, we were impressed by the ambiance of this warm and inviting home away from home. The Tuscan decor was exquisite. The bedrooms and their closets are especially roomy and the beds super comfy. The pullout leather sofa was easy to use and comfortable to sleep on as well. The kitchen was equipped for a beartastic meal, which was a nice change to eating out! We loved watching a movie on the flat screen after a long day of sightseeing. It was an added bonus to have a laptop computer for our use!
We were sad to leave our bear lair in South San Francisco! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I am confident that you will too!

Bob & Grace, Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. Your home is absolutely lovely and we felt so comfortable there. It was such a cozy house to come back to after long days of touring the beautiful sights of San Francisco. We had some great family time on our vacation, and we appreciate all of your effort in making our stay so pleasant. The pictures of the apartment assured us that it would be wonderful, but Il Nido is even more spectacular in person. It is beautifully decorated with every luxurious amenity guests could want. The girls really enjoyed playing on the basketball and tennis court! The location provides plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Driving into the city is a quick and easy 15 minute commute to all the popular tourist sights. Too bad we didn't get together for a glass of wine, but we always got back so late from our marathon sight-seeing days.:) Maybe next time. We return to California every few years to visit our old favorite places, so we will keep Il Nido in mind for future trips. We will highly recommend your apartment to our friends and family as well. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful California home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Everything about our stay was first class; the extra space vs a hotel room made all the difference. The apartment was spotlessly clean, secure and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location is ideal to explore the area and is close to all amenities. The hosts were warm and friendly, and went out of their way to ensure our stay was excellent. We highly recommend Ilnido and hope to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This lovely apartment is great for families. The owners provide for every need. Access to the major highways that go south into Silicon Valley, Stanford University, Half Moon Bay and north into San Francisco are easily accessible. Grocery stores, Walgreens and even a mall where there is a BART stop are within walking distance if you don't have transportation. The apartment is safely tucked away toward the back of the house with its own entrance and overlooks the tennis court. The entire home can only be accessed through an electronic gate so you truly feel safe and at home. The owners are accommodating and gracious! Definitely consider staying at "Il Nido" if you are headed to the Bay Area! You'll be glad you did!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The place was no less than excellent. The owners greeted us warmly and we loved the place the moment we entered its spacious lot. The place was very well kept and neat and it was very private allowing us to spend quality time with our family. There is a huge tennis court and hot tub available for use. It was also strategically located near the convenient stores such as Walgreens which was open twenty hours. It was near the Tanforan mall as well. We highly recommend this place. It is much way better than staying even at a five star hotel. We look forward renting this lovely place again this coming Christmas.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

All the 5-Star reviews are, as they say, "spot on"! Not only that, Grace was kind enough to continuously print out details of the day's activities that were sent via E-mail, and forward them accordingly. This is service above and beyond what one can expect in one's wildest imaginations! Just absolutely gracious! For those without their own transportation, it is about a 20-minute walk to BART, but it goes through several shopping malls and time passes by quickly and enjoyably. The closest store is a Walgreens, just a few minutes away. About 15 minutes will take you to the famous Little Lucca Sandwich Shop, with a lot of fast food shops also around. In short, this is an extremely convenient location! Again, the most heartfelt of thanks to Grace and Bob for their kindness and hospitality! If ever we are in this area, this is the absolute first place we will contact for availability, and everyone should also!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We (2 adults, 2 teenage children) had a great week at Bob & Grace's place. They were very accommodating, helpful, and polite hosts. Our son loved playing tennis and shooting a few hoops during off times and our daughter enjoyed the first class bathroom. For driving you are just off El Camino and close to several freeways. However to lower the stress it is also a modest walk to the San Bruno BART station. Also close to many grocery stores. There is a Costco (good for gas too) and Trader Joe's withing an ~5min drive. As other review have mentioned it is quite close to the Airport and you could even catch the BART and walk if you didn't have a ton of luggage. If you have a car it is comforting having it safely off the road in the gated yard. Would definitely consider again for another San Francisco trip.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Excellent location and nearby amenities. Bob and Grace were excellent hosts and the property was beautiful. The kitchen was well appointed and basic cooking materials were there on our arrival. Grace was so nice to find a nice hiking trail for us in the are and give us driving instructions to it. We had two family get togethers during our stay. Of note, we ran afoul of the contract stipulations unwittingly. A visitor had brought a pet, and we parked two extra vehicles on the property during a get together. Bob was understandably upset, and we felt bad. Given that we had reviewed many VRBO properties, the restrictive clauses of this particular property got lost in the process. To prevent this unfortunate stress on both the host and visitor, a reminder on check-in as to any restrictive clauses would be constructive and I am sure appreciated. All in all, an excellent propert with accomodating and gracious hosts. Our thanks to Bob and Grace.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This rental property is a dream come true for any traveler. The owners are very friendly and willing to help with any questions you have about the San Francisco area. The accomodations were fantastic with all rooms being very spacious. From the moment that you arrive you feel like you are at home rather than on vacation. A fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to plan your own meals. There is a breakfast bar too that our kids loved eating at. Behind the house is a beautiful tennis court and court yard. I highly recommend this property to anyone. The price is also very reasonable. TRAVEL TIP: We rented a car from Enterprise which was about 1 mile from the apartment and 5 minutes from the airport. We paid about $275 for 7 days and we had a 2012 Chevy Malibu! My recommendation would be to take the BART (Bay Area Transit) train from the airport to the San Bruno station (first stop), call Enterprise and have them pick you up (they are about 3-4 blocks from the train station) and then drive back to the airport to pick up the remainder of your party. It costs about $7 to take BART to the San Bruno station. The car rental prices at the airport are ridiculously expensive. TRAVEL TIP #2 - Also, if you are going to an attraction downtown during the week make sure to get there before 8 or 9 a.m. as they have Early Bird prices for the whole day. It is about $14-15 per day instead of $25-40 if you get there earlier.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My son and I stayed at this beautiful Tuscan apartment for 5 nights. Bob and Grace were so helpful as hosts before and during our visit. The apartment is very clean and has everything one could need. It provided a relaxing atmosphere and access to all our needs closeby. We visited restaurants locally and a short BART trip landed us in S.F. when we wanted to go there for tourist attractions. Nearby Highway 1 allowed us time for a leisurely drive down the coast for dinner. The apartment beds are comfortable, the furnishings are decorative, and the wireless internet very accessible. We would definitely recommend this property for individuals/families seeking a great San Francisco experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
