Only one peak week left--August 17-24, 2013 at reduced rate of $4450. Come experience the sunny beaches and ocean breezes of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. We are right on the beach!
This is my dream house I bought back in 2001. I put in a pool and a hot tub and renovated it inside and out and my kids love coming here. We live in Virginia Beach but we really LOVE Hatteras! You and your kids will too. Right on the Ocean and the rates are great. Come and experience what makes Hatteras Island so special.
We sleep 12 in beds and a few more if you count the futon and sleep sofa. Giant pool and hot tub..
Last summer we were fully occupied so reserve NOW to guarantee your week and rate.......for 2013 we have held the rates steady from last year. So be aware that the weeks will go fast.
Hatteras Island and all its beauty and widlife will be ready for you and your family this season. And there is a new inlet and bridge to see! Wow!
This is a beautiful Oceanfront house with sleeping in beds for 12 people. Extra sleeping for 2 is available in the Futon in the loft. Sleep sofa add 2 more.
This is the perfect house for one family or two families that want to spend a week together at the Outer Banks.
We are right on the beach in Waves , about a mile south of the Rodanthe pier.
There are two bedrooms on the second level next to the kitchen and dining room. Then there are two bedrooms on the top floor next to the great room. The fourth floor is a loft with a futon.
Oh, and the waves are great right out in front of the house if you surf or boogie board. Surfing lessons anyone?
My Kids love the Large 16x34 foot SWIMMING POOL, close proximity to the beach,(our own private path see the PHOTOS), the killer hot tub with ocean views, and the Dairy Queen for after dinner ice cream just a bike ride or skateboard or stroll up the street. It is a comfortable Oceanfront house with nothing between you and the ocean except sand!
4 bedrooms ( plus 'pool room', which really is a 5th bedroom) and 3 baths with an outdoor shower.
The water is clean and green and the ocean is fabulous right in front of the house.
The owner's profile picture is of me and my surfboard and dog on the beach right in front of the house. National Seashore, turtles, manta rays.....surfing, sun bathing and boogy-boarding right in front of the house.
This location is in Waves, NC, about a mile south of the Rodanthe pier on Hatteras Island. Just turn toward the Ocean off Hwy 12 at the Dairy Queen.
The house borders directly on the beach. It is only a short walk over magnificent dunes to the water's edge.
YOU CAN'T GET ANY CLOSER TO THE BEACH THAN THIS HOUSE,IT IS OCEANFRONT.(We are always getting questions, 'is it on the ccean?' Yes!!)
There is also a screened-in porch off the kitchen that looks out over the pool, a south facing third floor sundeck with a hot tub and epic views of the Atlantic, and a fireplace on the third floor for the cooler spring and fall nights.
On the ground floor off the pool deck, the pool room has its own bath, refrigerator, TV and queen size sleeper sofa. During the day this room is a play room and an exercise area with free weights and at night this can serve as a fifth bedroom, with its own bathroom and a nice view of the pool.
The house features pillowtop mattresses and feather pillows so we can listen to the sound of the ocean from comfortable beds. (Have you ever vacationed and slept on a hard bed----Not here!) With the four bedrooms 12 beds and the pool room serving as a bedroom, the house can sleep a lot of people.
There are excellent views of the ocean from just about anywhere on the third floor and loft, from inside or out on the decks. You can see the ocean while lounging in the hot tub! On the second level there is a large dining area and fully stocked kitchen, with views of the pool and dunes from inside or from the deck or screened in porch.
The high cathedral ceiling on the third floor and large trapezoid windows combine to give a feeling of space to the top floor like a ski chalet. We watched a meteor shower once from inside the house just looking up through the high windows. Spectacular!
For those of you who have been to Hatteras Island, you probably already know that it is the premier destination on the East Coast if you are into fishing, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, beaching, catching rays, kite-flying, sitting by the pool, grilling, shelling, bonfires on the beach (yes it's legal Or maybe you just want to sit and watch sports or a movie on the HDTV big screen( with a DVD player and VCR )while listening to and looking out over the ocean, or check your e-mail (yes we have wireless!), or simply enjoying the sound of the ocean with a good book. We do all of these things and more in the comforts of a Oceanfront home with virtually all the amenities.
We have 16 photos here...please call at first number below during the week or second number below on weekends if you have further questions.
Pets are welcome if housebroken and on flea preventative treatment like frontline or advantage. A $500 damage and cleaning deposit will be required and returned in full if the home is left clean and undamaged. We also require a &100 dollar charge for linen service. Bring towels.
Crossing over the Bonner Bridge onto Hatteras Island you leave the other world behind. We hope your experience is as satisfying as it has been for us.

My family of 11 stayed for a week. The previous reviews are pretty much spot on, so I will try not to be repetitive. The home was perfect in terms of location, amenities, and size. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub daily. We even had sit down family dinners each night (bring your own food and save money). And yes, the dunes take away from the view so do not expect to see the ocean (only a glimpse from the top two floors); however, the surrounding scenery was just fine. If you struggle with walking know that walking up and down the dunes can be tiresome for some and the sand is HOT. With that said, we spent many nights at the beach and enjoyed both daily and night swims. Bring boogie boards as the waves are INTENSE (or at least were for our week) and rafts to float in the pool. We did rent wave runners and a pontoon boat in Kitty Hawk (look for coupons). A Food Lion is located in Avon (but again bring as much as you can to save money). As for the house itself- we enjoyed the use of the grille (although we did find the propane tank empty- but found a gas station nearby). The great room and kitchen met our needs- there is a 52 inch flat screen tv to be enjoyed by all. The best beds are on the main floor. The pool room couch bed is not comfortable, but worked for my brother and his fiancé once they gathered extra blankets and pillows. Be aware that the refrigerator takes 24 house to work well so no worries. At first we were unsure but it turned out okay. A plus was the washer and dryer and dish washer. Well to wrap it up- we had a wonderful time in Waves and my family thanked me for finding such a great place to stay that was perfect for our family, including our dogs. In addition, the owner (or Kim) answered all my questions prior to our arrival.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers.

I was so happy to find an ocean front home that suited all of my needs that I booked it, dispite the dated appearance of the furnishings. I figured we wouldnt be spending a ton of time in the house anyway. The house is oceanfront, but we were a little disappointed that you had to go to the top level of the house to see the water because the dunes are so high. The views from the lower levels are not that spactacular, but from upstairs they are gorgeous. We found the home to be somewhat clean...we had to clean the glass doors so we could see out of them clearly. We arrived to find a note on the table that said we would be getting a new tv on Monday between 3 and 6 and a bedroom tv was being used in the living room until then....ok, no big deal....except we made it a point to be there at 3 to accomidate them and the neighbors said the delivery truck had come and gone hours earlier...so i told them to let me know what the new plan was...we came home wed to fine a huge tv in the box on the floor of the main level and a note saying theyd be back at a certain time to move it up stairs and install it. So again to accomadate the landlords, I got everyone out of the home so they could do their thing. I came home to a message asking if we could do move it upsatirs ourselves. And she said we should just have to plug it in. I told them at this point I will move your tv upstairs, but no we wont install it...not my job or responsibility, and asked that they wait till we were gone. And they did...thank you for that! We also reported the pool room ac unit was not working, it was never fixed during our stay. I was very musty and smelly down there. Also bring plenty of bug spray. The mosquitoes will literally pick you up and carry you away! It was unlike any mosquito population I had ever seen. We treated the pool area...so hopefully that helped for future tenants. The land scaping in the pool area could use some attention. Over all we had a great time. The house wasnt perfect, but it was definitely suitable. I thought it was a little crazy to expect the guests to clean the bathrooms and vacuum/sweep and deep clean before leaving...that was a first.I understand taking the trash out and washing dishes, but the list was a bit much. Loved the pool and the hot tub. The ocean was uncrowded and quite nice for sunrises. DQ being so close was nice...but dont walk unless you are loaded with bug spray or you will be sorry! Over all. I loved being able to have my dog come with us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This was our first time to Waves and we more than enjoyed it. We wanted a place to get away from it all and Gone with the Wind was more than perfect! Our dogs are a part of our family and loved that they could come with us. The pool was open early & clean, the hot tub was a hot spot within the house, our family enjoyed bonfires on the beach roasting marshmallows at night and collecting shells & flying kites throughout the day. The gas grill was awesome and we loved that a grocery store was only 20 mins away. This home is on the oceanfront - climb over the dunes at high tide and you'll need to stay on the dunes! But it's a beautiful sight. I found this home to be a great value and would highly recommend it. We plan on staying again next time we visit Waves.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners.

A great place to get away from it all! Just a dune away from the beach. Saw a couple great moon rises! The house has plenty of space and a good layout. The pool was open early in the year. We had a good stay and our dog loved the decks! I know there was a hurricane last summer, but they could use a little more attention to detail.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

If you are undecided about where to spend your vacation time with your family, let me be the tie breaker. This is a lovely home and we enjoyed every minute of our precious time. In this economy, this is one place where you will enjoy the value of the beach, scenery, and size of the home. We are big time foodies, and after reading the other reviews and speaking with the owner, we were wise to bring our own wine, spices, cheeses, etc., but, the house is well stocked if you arrive late. For families with younger children, there are resonably priced beach restaurants. We really enjoyed watching the sun set while sipping wine - just hop across the street and find a place to enjoy some serious camera shots. Trust me, this is one of those best kept secrets!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Our family of 5 (2 parents, 1 teenager, a 10-year old and a grandma) and 2 dogs (a black lab and a black pug) enjoyed this rental to the fullest. The property is well-appointed, clean and well-maintained, but most importantly, very comfortable. You can have coffee in the am on the first floor deck (after you take a long walk on the beach which is virtually in your backyard), then read in the late afternoon on the second floor deck, or have a turn in the hot tub while you look out at the beach. We loved the location - Waves has a remote, unspoiled feeling, but you can get to Hatteras within a half hour, over to Roanoke Island in about the same amount of time, or up to Kitty Hawk in about 45 minutes. Then you get to go home to "Gone With the Wind" and listen to the wind and the waves, and not the traffic.....We would love to return....Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our vacation this year started out waiting for hurricane Earl to get out of the area. There was an evacuation for this one, our second time evacuation the week before our vacation time. Tree’s (my wife) brother and his family were not able to make the trip this year so it was just four of us my son Chris, me my wife and her friend Vickie. Since it was just the four of us we all rode in our truck. I wanted to get an early start to beat the DC traffic (labor day week-end) so we left York Pa around 4am. We got as far as Glen Rock exit and realized we forgot my wife’s purse. Turn around go back and get to leave house at 4:50, not what I wanted. But the drive went smooth and we got through DC before traffic jam (we were lucky). By the time we reached Richmond area it was time to stop for breakfast. We tried Waffle House first, not good we waited for about 15 min and still not waited on so we left and drove to pancake house. Good choice great breakfast for fuel to get us on our way again. The rest of the drive to the Outer Banks went very smooth no traffic jams. We get to the island early excited and knowing the house would not be ready yet we took our time and checked out the sites on the way. When we get past Bodie lighthouse traffic stopped, Hatteras Island not open to visitors yet. Hey we are on vacation just relax and wait. It took a couple of hours to get across the bridge and get to Waves where our rental is located. Still early when we get there but decide to look see what house looked like. To our surprise the house cleaner was there, so me my friendly self started talking and the cleaning lady let us know the house was ready for us as much as could be after storm. We told her we would take care of putting outside furniture back in place and cleaning up around pool. We were so happy to be at house that was no problem for us. The house is not a big fancy house like some of the OBX homes but it was homey clean and comfortable. Chris and Vickie each took a room on the second floor where the kitchen and dinning room are. Theresa’s and my room was on the third floor by the living / family room hot tub outside on the deck.. There is a gorgeous view of the ocean from the deck. I unpacked kitchen items and Tree took care of suitcase, but I could not find my bag of camera and laptop cords. I was bummed I’m a geek and to think of the whole week without. Oh well IRecommended for: Pet owners, age 55+, families with young children.

We entered the home in the evening and after lugging some bags inside began to explore the house. The poster of Bob Dylan and the Dan Merkel-style photos of big surf let us know of the spirit of the homes' owners. We neglected to bring our dog this first time around being uncertain of the environment; but at that point, I started to wish Cosmo (our chocolate Lab) had made the journey. Next time, Cozzie. We had a week of sunshine and rain, about 50/50, but could not have had a better place to experience the Autumn of the Outer Banks. During overcast or rainy days, we made the quick trip up to the beach and walked the shoreline in the mist, close enough to home to make it back if the weather kicked up. The sunny days were spent half at the ocean, half by the pool, each in near solitude due to our location. Nights were a real pleasure on the deck watching the fishing boat lights on the ocean horizon and counting the stars from the hot tub - we were truly at peace. The town is big enough to not leave you wanting for the necessities, but small enough where the traffic is unnoticed and there is an evident local feel among the folks living there. I grew up in a seaside resort area and to see this brought back memories of what my hometown used to be before it's popularity made it "tourist-y". Luckily, this has not happened here yet. This time it was just the two of us as we were on a discovery mission for future family vacations, and think we've got the place. The kitchen area has great counters for large meal preparation and the separation of bedrooms by floor will permit everyone to execute their own agenda. You can also feel safe letting the younger crowd wander freely without concern for their well being. Activities ranging from kite boarding to surf fishing to dune buggy rental are very close and the nightlife scene seems easily available, though we spent little time in that pursuit and just enjoyed each other's company. Our one complaint is not one involving the house at all - its the local dining. The seasonal help is a tough crew to train and most of the food we found was, well, not what I had hoped for or expected, so I recommend cooking at home and fortunately the house is perfectly equipped and suited for that. Luckily, the Village Grocery in Avon is a remarkably stocked store with niche-y products and everything you could possible want - worth a trip. Needless to say, we will return to this home our next trip to the Outer Banks. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We LOVED IT HERE! I took my family and our dogs, it was beautiful! We vacation every few months, and would definetely recommend this place to friends and return one day! We were blessed with 75 degree weather the first week of April and spent time in the pool and on the beach! There is also a nice work out room, off from the pool. Private, with free weights, and TV, and stereo. Also has private bathroom! I could have spent my whole week there. But the house had awesome vies, even saw the moon rise every morning over the ocean.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
