Welcome to Edifício Marlin. The apartment (1126 square feet/105 square meters) is newly and completely remodeled throughout, and is furnished and maintained to high American and Canadian standards. It is on the 16th-floor (top floor) and fronts beautiful Piedade Beach - the southern extension of Boa Viagem Beach - with warm water all year long and protective coral reefs which make for calm waters and safe swimming.

With windows opened, the apartment has a cooling ocean breeze. Dining room, living room, kitchen, and service area. Master bedroom suite with bathroom. Three of the bedrooms and the living room have a gorgeous view of the beach (see photo at left) and have ceiling fans and air conditioning. The fourth bedroom is the former maid´s quarters, which has a ceiling fan. It also has its own bathroom and shower, all very nicely remodeled. All beds have new high quality mattresses. The building has 24-hour security and a gated entrance.

Great temperatures all year round (June to August: 21-30 degrees C / 70-86 degrees F; September to May: 24-35 degrees C / 75-95 degrees F).

This is a perfectly located apartment, within short walking distance to the following:

1.5 minutes to Hospital Nossa Senhora da Piedade, a small 10-bed hospital with 24-hour emergency service.
2.0 minutes to historic Nossa Senhora da Piedade Catholic Church
2.0 minutes to modern Nossa Senhora da Piedade Catholic Church.
2.0 minutes to Mormon Church.
2.5 minutes to Bom Preço Supermarket with ATMs for withdrawing cash.
4.0 minutes to McDonald´s Restaurant.
4.5 minutes to Bradesco Bank with ATMS.
7.0 minutes to Shopping Guararapes, a large shopping center with over 200 stores, food courts, 12 movie theaters and ATMs.
14.0 minutes to Post Office.

It is also very close to drug stores, bakeries, good restaurants, bars, travel agencies, Internet Cafe, and more. Taxi stands and city bus stops are a block away. Nearby hotels offer complete tour information and booking services.

Piedade Beach and Boa Viagem Beach form one single 7-mile beach. From Edifício Marlin, there is a sidewalk/walking path that extends north the entire 7-mile length of the two beaches. Typically at high tide people use the walking path, at low tide, many walk on the beach itself.

The owners are Bob and Dalva. She is a Brazilian who was born and raised in Recife, and can be very helpful in sharing useful information about her city and culture. Bob, an American, is a former Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Brazil, and is a retired school counselor who founded "Students Helping Street Kids International", a nonprofit that provides scholarships to impoverished Brazilian kids.

However, there is a public phone in the lobby which can be used for placing long-distance calls, using calling cards that are sold at news stands on the street.

  • We have traveled in Brazil off and on for a number of years, and recently returned from Reciefe, which turned out to be one of our most pleasurable trips. Having passed briefly through the city some years ago, and liking what we saw, we thought it might be a good place to kick back and relax for a while. Before leaving the states, we arranged to rent Bob and Dalva's Beach Apt, for a month. Bob has an excellent online presentation of the property, but words and photos simply don't do it justice. The Apt. Is spacious, immaculate, and has a wonderful sea breeze coming through the windows, not to mention "Drop Dead" views of the Beachfront and city. Equally impressive are "The Host's". Besides being professional in every way, Bob, Dalva, and their family are great people, and went well out of their way to make us feel comfortable, as well as giving assistance in finding anything we needed in the city during our stay. We highly recommand if you are planning a trip to Reciefe to really consider this property to ensure a secure and worry free vacation.   • We were a family of five who rented Bob and Dalva's place for one week. We were extremely pleased with the appartment, the view and the maid. Bob was helpful and attentive to our needs. The appartment was clean, bright, spacious and well equipped. We would highly recommend this appartment.

  • Million dollar views from every window. Right on the beach! Bob and Dalva made you feel like family from the moment you arrive. Newly renovated to a high western standard. Already looking forward to my return in the spring.
