This VRBO is all about location. right off the main street. smallish softshell hot tub worked well, bar sized pool table as advertized. masterbedroom good, I'm told the bunk beds in the other rooms were not super comfy, but they sufficed. large flatscreen. kitchen kind of funky design without windows, but everything worked fine. would stay here again, because location was great. Owner who lives upstairs can be heard easily as he walks around and watches TV.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed 7 nights in this rental last month and couldn't have been happier with my experience. My only regret on the trip was paying for a rental car, as we didn't need it once we parked at the house. It is a block from the main street (Elk) and about 30 steps from the free shuttle to the ski hill. I have rented a few houses on VRBO and have had owners that ran the entire spectrum as far as attentiveness to our needs while renting. This place ranks at the top. The owner, Rob, lives upstairs which initially was a sticking point for me. It turned out to be a total advantage. His entrance is on the other side of the house, and I didn't even see/hear him for the first 3 days we were there. However, once I reached out for an introduction, he was happy to oblige our every request for restaurant and shopping recommendations, general pointers on what to see/skip while we were in town, and some really cool historical tidbits about our surroundings. It turned out to be a real asset to have a local with 20+ years of area knowledge at our disposal. Rob is a real pro. As someone who has spent years in real estate, he knew just how to set up the rental property. The house had everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked with all necessary equipment, I don't think I have ever seen so many towels, and it even had bonus items like personal climate control for every bedroom, washer/dryer, DVDs and board games. I loved that access to the house is via an easy to use combo pad, so there was no worrying about keys for myself or my fellow travelers. We also had a blast shooting pool and soaking in the hot-tub after a day on the slopes. We had a couple get-togethers at the house with some friends of mine that are locals, and they all confirmed that this house is one of, if not the best value in CB rental properties. The listing's pictures don't do justice to the space. I couldn't have been happier. P.S. In my rush to head out early in the AM to catch a plane in Denver, I left behind a phone charger and earbud headphones. I was ready to write them off until they appeared in my mailbox a few days ago. It was just another example of Rob's eagerness to please.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing.

nice downtown location, roomy, clean with plenty of room to sleep 8. had a great stay, other then the heating system, which for some of our party, couldnt keep up with the outside temp, and the main heater in the living area would not stay on. actually had to wear a heavy sweater or light jacket in the evening or early morning inside.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: Sorry about the heater. It was on the fritz and I had it repaired. 1st issue we've had with it. It is powerful and has always kept up in the past. I'm so glad we had the electric baseboard to back up during your stay. And...sorry the backup wasn't quite enough. Smiles, Rob

Best feature of this property is location, by far... easy access to main street as well as the nordic center and ski shuttle. Loved that the property offered off-street parking and extensive locked storage in the mud room for all our gear! The property was very spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool table. Cons... very personalized decor, rather noisy (could hear the owner living above walking around as well as his TV, which he watches in the very wee hours!)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, families with teenagers.

The house was perfect for us and our needs in the CB 100 mtn bike ride. Great location, nice patio to sit outside, the porch was perfect for our bikes and wet, dirty clothes, and there is great bed space (with comfortable beds). Being a basement "apartment" it is a little dark, especially in the kitchen, but we didn't mind. We'll be back for sure!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Location was perfect: 1/2 block to Camp4Coffee and Third Bowl (best ice cream in the world-no kidding!). 2 blocks to Ginger Cafe and McGills (great for breakfast) Lots of space for sleeping and recreational activities and lots of amenities. Bedding was particularly comfortable. Owner was most helpful and accessible. Will definitely put this property at the top of my list when visiting Crested Butte again.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Several of my friends and I have taken an annual mountain bike trip to different parts of Colorado for the last 20 years. This year took us to Crested Butte to ride the world class trails such as 401, 403, Doctors Park, etc. I found this property on VRBO and decided to give it a try as it seemed like a great combination of location, accommodation, and price. I am delited to report that it was even better than we had anticipated. The house was clean, beds comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with the necessary cookware and utensils. We very much enjoyed the rec room with large leather sectional for relaxing after a big ride and watching a movie or playing some pool. Our favorite area though was the huge mud room, which was handy for tuning our bikes and dumping gear after a big day. We also sat out on the porch, grilled a few times and enjoyed the hot tub as well. We appreciated that the owner came by and made sure we had everything we needed. The house location was fantastic, being on a quiet street, yet about one block away from Camp 4 Coffee, a great little coffee shop, and a few feet further was an organic food market, an ice cream shop, and the famous Donitas. This was the first time in all of our trips throughout Colorado that we stayed in a downtown area because we typically come only for the mountain experience. Crested Butte is certainly an exception to this rule, as it is probably the perfect little mountain town - small, but functional, a great atmosphere, and not much traffic, with most visitors and locals walking or riding bicycles about. There were many great shops and restaurants along Elk Avenue located in restored and preserved buildings dating back to its mining days, adorned with as many colors as species of wildflowers in the area. We also took in an outdoor concert at the park, which was within walking distance from the house. The locals and the planning commission should probably get some sort of an award for a job well done. For a great location and value, I can recommend this property for your next outing to Crested Butte.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Nice location to downtown. However the place needs new sheets and comforters. There was an odd smell like mold or mildew in the house. The house was also dark and didn't get much sunlight.Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: So sorry! The sheets and comfortors are all newish. The house is professionally cleaned by my very caring Teresa. I've never noticed the smell or had any other like comments, written or otherwise. This home is "everyday" finished with fun additions like pool table, 55" HDTV, "Corona Cantina" kitchen, hot tub. I think the price reflects "everyday" Crested Butte style. Although there are no mountain views, there's plenty of windows for light. Can't beat the location.-Rob

Why the Owner Chose Crested Butte:
I'm a Townie! Walk or ride my bike everywhere. It's much better to ride the free shuttle 10 minutes to slope side in the morning than deal with it to the bars and restaurants from the mountain at night. Or a taxi $$ if it gets late. You don't need a car.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It's all within walking distance. 1 block to Elk Ave. on quiet Sopris.
