Couldn't have asked for a better vacation rental - bring clothes & food, that's all you need!!

Guest: Dina (Glen Ridge, NJ)
Date of Stay: 08/20/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

My family and I rented 25 North Street for 2 weeks, August 20-September 3, 2011 - The first week, my entire family joined us (5 adults, 8 children). The house is in tip top shape, and has EVERYTHING you need for a beach vacation - chairs, beach umbrellas, boogie boards, skim boards, beach towels, beach badges, bicycles, crabbing nets, board games, books, movies - literally all you need to bring is your clothes and food. My parents loved the screened porch for quiet reading, the kids having lunch and dinner out there too. The proximity to the beach was fantastic, it was great to be able to go back and forth as needed for lunch and snacks. The kitchen is fully stocked with every imaginable spice, and the whereabouts of things are clearly labeled in the house which is incredibly helpful. They have a beautiful garden, and were kind enough to share the bounty. Our vacation time coincided withHurricane Irene, and were forced to evacuate, the house manager kept us informed of what was going on, and when we could return. The owners checked in to see if we were ok on more than one occasion. We have rented other properties in Bay Head in the past, this house and the owners are heads and shoulders above the others! We hope to return next summer

Truly a Home -- Filled with Love and Care

Guest: Carey (Los Angeles, CA )
Date of Stay: 06/01/11 Review Submitted: 06/08/11

This property is not just a summer rental, but a true home. When you walk through the door, you immediately feel like you are being welcomed into a close friend’s home. The love and warmth of the owners is palpable and the care that they have taken to make you comfortable is immediately evident. We were reminded of our grandparents' home and all the great times we had there. We were able to have all the family around the dining room table (with its many leaves) to eat a meal together for the first time in years. I think we had at least 16 people around the table and it was wonderful. One of the nicest things about the house is that they have everything you could possibly need during a stay. There are tags hung all over the house that tell you where to look for things, and the kitchen is completely stocked with pans and plates and all the utensils you’ll need for most any dish you may decide to concoct. There was even a crockpot and lobster pot. Also a microwave, toaster over, 4 slot toaster, coffee maker, ice machine, dish washer and clothes washer and dryer. They have documented each drawer and cabinet in a clever photo document, so when looking for something, you can locate it quickly using their guide. Even without the guide, things are so well organized, that you’d find them quickly. There are boogie boards, bikes, plenty of towels and beach towels, beach chairs, kid's sand shovels and pails, games, puzzles, videos and tv's in all the rooms (not that you need them with all the activities you can enjoy). The beach is across the street -- you can see the sand from the front porch. We enjoyed walking the beach and visiting Twilight Lake, which is one block inland. Within walking distance were the Grenville Inn’s restaurant, the Marlin Sports Bar and 7-11 and a Rockin’ Joe’s coffee house with live music. The living room is set up so everyone can be hanging out in the same room, chatting, some doing puzzles while others are playing a game and grandma is asleep in a comfy chair. Wonderful! The side porch is screened in with a table and plenty of chairs to sit and enjoy the wonderful beach breeze. There’s also a side yard with grass that kids can run around and play in and gigantic gas grill for bbq’s. The house also had wifi for those of us who are sometimes attached to our laptops. The only downside I found to this house was that we had to leave. It has been a few days now, and I still feel a sense of loss. I can’t wait to visit again!

Family Wedding and Wonderful Shore Vacation

Guest: frank (Cumming, GA)
Date of Stay: 07/17/10 Review Submitted: 08/02/10

Our family of 7 adults and one grandson (16 mos.), together with my Mom, sister and brother spent a fantastic week in July at this charming house in the beautiful town of Bay Head. We were there for my nephew's wedding and decided we'd stay the week at the beach. While there we had several additional guests come and go, and there was plenty of room to accomodate everyone. This house has a super location-we were all thrilled how close to the beach this house was-very easy to run back and forth if needed. The beach itself and the cleanness of the water (I haven't been back to the Shore in about 30 years) was amazing. Bring your beach chairs & treat yourself to the Point Pleasant fireworks display each Thursday night at 9PM-it's a great show sitting there right on the Bay Head beach. ALL the necessities were provided-from beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels, beach badges, gas grill, bikes, etc. No need to even bring your own linens. The house was fantastic and the owers very accomodating in answering any questions. Great for large families with a downstairs Master, 2nd level has 5 BR and an apartment-like 3rd level with a BR/bath/sitting area. Huge wraparound porch with the entire one side of the house screened in; we spent our evenings there as it seemed like the wind always picked up around 8PM. Big side yard if you have kids you want to send outside (we used it to play a bean toss game called "corn hole"). Driveway accomodates 3 cars, plus parking on the street is allowed. You could walk to several stores and restaurants. Highly recommend Theresa's South at 530 Main St., Bay Head (remember to bring your own though). The house is fully air-conditioned, very comfortable inside, very clean and had a well stocked kitchen. Overall, we could not have been happier. It made for a very pleasurable experience being back with family and staying together for the first time in many years.

Great Family Reunion Location

Guest: Josh (Los Altos, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/04/10 Review Submitted: 07/10/10

My family of 8 adults and 7 children gathered here this July in honor of my parents 50th wedding anniversary and everyone had a wonderful time. The house worked perfectly for our needs. It was comfortable, instantly felt like home and was big enough that we could gather all together in the living room areas, but small enough that it provided for nice smaller gatherings as well. The access to the beach is fantastic and this section of beach is very nice and has two life guard stations. There is alot of character in this home and it's clear it's a place that is loved by the owners and many important family mementos appoint the rooms and hallways. There are games on the shelves for the kids, tons of beach equipment, a video selection better than blockbuster and a complete kitchen with every gadget and pot, pan or tray required. The garden out back is beautiful and the side yard provided a great safe place for the kids to play. The house is also easy walking distance to several restaurants and a cute shopping area with a bakery, cheese shop, etc. We loved staying here and it truly was a great experience.

Wonderful Beach Get-a-away

Guest: cindygal (Warren, nj)
Date of Stay: 06/12/10 Review Submitted: 06/22/10

We rented this house in June and had a wonderful time. It's so close to the beach that I am forever spoiled now. The house is comfortable, clean and has character. It was nice to have a backyard, since not all beach houses do, and so we were able to enjoy a BBQ. It's very close to the Point Pleasant boardwalk where there are a lot of things to do. The owners were very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Great, Classic, Beach House

Guest: Steamboat Tony (Steamboat Springs, Colorado)
Date of Stay: 10/07/09 Review Submitted: 04/08/10

We rented for a week in October 2009 for a family reunion/wedding. Plenty of room for 7 of us with room to spare. The property was absolutely as described and photgraphed. The house was clean; owners were very helpful in accomodating our needs. Location was a big plus - half a block from the beach and a short walk into the village. We have no reservations about recommending this property to anyone looking for an older, classic NJ beach house kept in very good shape.
