Had to include this great email from Kristin in Boston when she got back..
Laura,
We got home last night and I have to say I am so depressed...not only is vacation over but we are no longer in BIG SKY. We LOVED IT!!!!! Not only was your cabin the most amazing place, but the whole area is amazing, don't know how you leave it to go to NY?

We skied all 6 days which was the most any of us had ever done, but we could not resist...the skiing was so fantastic. We got between 3 and 6 inches EVERY night so it was so nice to get fresh tracks. There were no crowds, which was also an amazing experience. Half of the crew that went are avid skiers out west, and everyone agreed Big Sky was the best place we had all ever skied. I think the quote all week was "IMPRESSIVE".

We loved the Mexican Place - thanks for the recommendation. We also went to a restaurant that we really enjoyed called the Cabin at the base of the Mountain. Def put on your list of recommended spots. We then ended up one night at Sissorbills next door and that was INTERESTING to say the least ;). But if anyone is looking for some fun and dancing that is the spot. The two single boys in our group were happy seeing as they got hit on by a bunch of ladies. We also tried Choppers and it was great for a burger place. Our most favorite spot was the Timbers however, the food was not outstanding but the atmosphere was. A few of us also enjoyed a massage and spa afternoon at Moonlight Basin, well worth the time...relaxation after a long day of skiing. We'll take it again next year! Kristin

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2004

We met skiing when living in colorado, and just fell in love with big sky when went to visit friends. We were lucky to buy before the pricing went up and just love the house, even though we cant be there as much as we would like. We live in woodstock NY. Steve works for Oracle and I do renovations/interior design. Enjoy the house, we have worked hard on making it super relaxing, great sheets, books, music and movies. We love to cook and stocked the kitchen for dinner parties at home.
Let it SNOW!

Why the Owner Chose Powder Ridge

Big Sky is incredible.. I used to live in colorado and it makes it seem flat. I used to think i was a good skier till I got to Big Sky! Plus Big Sky is still a secret and hope it stays that way. We were not really serious about buying and then a realtor showed us the powder ridge log cabins and we could not stop thinking about it. Like outside magazine said it is the best place to stay in big sky.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The hiking in summer is really what we cant wait to get there to do. Ted turners ranch is nearby, and people dont know but there is a public hike on it.. it is amazing and you'll see more wildlife than yellowstone. We'll give you exact directions. We have lists of the other hikes that are really amazing. Lave lake is incredible and storm castle are our favorites. Ousel falls is an easy hike up to an amazing water fall. There are picnic tables on the top by the waterfall for lunch.

we visited big sky for the first time and chose Lauras cabin. she was very accomodating and gave us tons of tips on places to go and eat, etc. we saw a moose on the road heading in and a red fox on the property one night at dinner. kids loved the hot tub and adults loved the kids had room to play outside while we watched from the warmth of the fire :) will definitely visit again - we loved it! one thing i would be aware of is ski in/ ski out... some of our group were younger (5 years old) and not ready for the inclines on the trails - but as i said this was our first time and there may be a better route for getting out that we were unaware of. didn't stop us though !!
