Everyone loves Cayucos and you will love this beach house. It is perfect for a group of family and friends to use as their vacation headquarters. A large room downstairs is conducive to great conversation. The upstairs is a warm and fiendly place to gather around the living area. some will want to be near the kitchen while snacks or a meal is being prepared. Others will be by the windows, enjoying the views of Morro Rock. Still others will be getting ready to go down the beach for an afternoon of sand and surf.
I spent my childhood just down the street from this wonderful home, a classic beach house. It was a great childhood. We couldn't wait to get down to the sand and set up a vollyball net or fish in the surf or go surfing. Surfing has become the king of sports in Cayucos and surfers love the beach in front of this home. The beach is also perfect for jogging or running or just catching up on your tan. My dream was to run to the Cayucos Pier from here, but I always managed to lie down and relax until that urge passed.
If you aren't a runner, you can drive to the pier in a few minutes. Be sure to walk out to the end of it. Fishermen are usually busy baiting their hooks, birds are swooping around, and occasionally huge basking sharks swim under the pier. Some of them are longer than the pier is wide. Once in a while Salmon come in close to shore and are caught from the pier.
After perusing the gift shops, stop in at one of the restaurants. You can order hotdogs or fish and chips at Duckys or abalone and Pheasant at Hoppes. Don't forget Schooners, Skippers, and the Sea Shanty. For a great local wine, be sure to stop at Cayucos Cellars there in downtown Cayucos and say "hi" to Stewart Selkirk, owner/vintner.
After you've soaked up so much local color that you look like a rainbow, come back to the beach house, put your feet up and enjoy a glass of wine as you wait for an incredible sunset to light the sky and say good-bye to a great day.
