I cannot speak highly enough of this house and the owner. It was so conveniently located and absolutely charming. It was exactly as described. The owner was so helpful when we locked ourselves out one evening! We loved sitting on the back deck sipping wine and enjoying the pretty back garden. Fantastic experience. If I come back to Austin I will definitely stay here again. My mother and my sisters felt exactly the same way.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We've stayed twice at the Neo-Tudor Cottage. We are native Austenites now living in Scandinavia and we love this place for our yearly treks back home to enjoy the sun and visit our friends and family in Austin. It just feels good to be in this place thanks to the great furnishing and decoration -- lots of attention to detail. One of our favorite features is the big round dining table that we entertain at – its really contusive to dinner-conversation. The location is absolutely fantastic. It’s walking distance to several of our favorite Austin restaurants, a great grocery store, a unique ice cream shop, and a delightful little neighborhood park with a pool and tennis courts. There is a cozy covered deck in a great back yard area and the owners (who live in the beautiful Victorian mansion next door) are happy to loan you their deluxe gas BBQ, There are a couple of quirks here, like a guest bed in the kitchen (weird but handy) and an apartment building looming over the cottage on one side – a strange mismatch to the Victorian on the other. But, hey, this is central Austin – you'd be disappointed if something wasn’t just a little quirky.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

SXSW had roughly a million bajillion attendees this year, so my friends and I were happy to have a comfortable, well-kept, and QUIET place to hide from the madness. The location couldn't be better (Hyde Park is an adorable little neighborhood), and Rich took good care of us. The beds were comfy, the backyard porch was a perfect place for a drink and a chat, and the laughably minor problems we had were attended to within hours. We would absolutely stay here again.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The house looked nicer in the photos. It wasn't bad, however I would highly recommend putting in clean sanitary new carpeting. It was very dirty and old and I was afraid to walk barefoot anywhere in the house but especially the master bedroom. I would also put in better blankets and pillows because they were old and I'm not kidding...the pilows were very very heavy ...I dont know what they were made of....solid hard rubber or latex is my guess..never seen anything like it . kitchen was well enough stocked with cooking equipment and dishes. Fridge was very nice. Again the flooring in the kitchen and the lighting was very bad...the linoleum was very old and yucky. The house also is in need of repairs, there are holes in the walls. I am a homeowner so I notice these things. Also because the previous clients checked out late, the maid apparently had to work very quickly to clean it, and when we walked in it had a very very strong odor of some kind of institution disinfectant like lysol or pine sol... which wasnt very pleasant .Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We're very sorry to receive this feedback from Holly and appreciate this opportunity to respond. It's disappointing to hear that she didn't have the great experience that we're accustomed to hearing about from all of our guests and always seek to provide. Our guests tend to provide feedback in person rather than submit written reviews. Here's the feedback from the guests just before her who sent an email saying "Man, the website doesn't do this place justice. This is PERFECT." .
