This versatile beachfront home can serve as the perfect romantic getaway for a couple, or comfortably accommodate a family or group of eight. The spacious, nicely manicured lawn and easily accessed beach invite both the playful frolic of children and relaxed lounging of adults. Sharing the beach with resident sea turtles is a daily highlight, and during winter months savor the opportunity to view and listen to the grandeur of the visiting humpback whales from the living room, lanai and backyard.

Here you will find a beautiful outdoor dining table, cozy lounge chairs, and the pune'e, a large built-in lounging area which can be used for outdoor sleeping for those more adventurous souls.
Each bedroom has its own outside entrance complete with full bathroom. The large master bedroom, with king bed, opens out to the ocean through a sliding glass door and onto its own lanai. One of the other three bedrooms opens out to the ocean and onto its own lanai as well.

Our expectations were naturally very high, but this property exceed them. My family really enjoyed our time here and the house is ideally set up for 3 -4 couples. The bedrooms are all detached from the main house, so some may sleep while others hang out. Also the large deck that looks out over the ocean is a great place to take meals, raise a glass, read a book and in general soak up paradise. Highly recommend.

Even better than it looks!

Our stay here will never be forgotten. This house was sanctuary and such a special place for all of us (8 and 3 mo.) The house and grounds are so private and all of us were so comfortable with separate quarters and baths..the main house was perfect for gatherings to enjoy the incredible view, birds, flowers, fish, tide pools, the Honu everywhere and amazing sunsets. Fresh Mango, grapefruit, limes and plumeria blooming for lei making. The house had everything needed for cooking, relaxing and playing. We never left except to attend the wedding events we were on the island for! Kalia made sure we felt the Aloha spirit and we all look forward to coming back very soon. Mahalo!

One of the most relaxing homes we have rented for a vacation. The setting, whales, turtles, diving in front and of course the magical sunsets all made for a wonderful family vacation. We only left a few times to see other parts of the Island as everything we needed was right there. We would go back here again without a doubt. The house offers everything you need for a non-crowd vacation.

It was a pleasure staying in your home during our trip to the big island. Your home far exceeded our expectations. Not only was it very clean, it was tastefully and comfortably decorated. We appreciated the many creature comforts like numerous bathrooms, comfortable beds, extra towels to name a few. We were also impressed with the fully equipped kitchen. No matter what we cooked, the right utensils were there. We spent many hours on the large lanai watching whales, sea turtles, dolphins, and the beautiful sunsets. The birds also brought us great delight. Another appreciated touch was your books that helped us identify the various birds and whale antics. Also, we enjoyed our walks on your beach, snorkelling, and searching for shells. Lastly, thank you for providing us with such a lovely home to enjoy our first visit to Hawaii.

This house may have been the best part of our wonderful family vacation. Wherever we went in 10 days on the Island, we always looked forward to coming home here. The yard had papayas, lemons, palm trees, and bright flowers. The ocean was in the back yard. We saw whales and sea turtles off the lanai every day. There were sea breezes and wonderful sunsets. We walked and rode bikes in the quiet neighborhood. The layout afforded both the togetherness and privacy we were seeking. Add in the personal touch support from Kalia - sharing her local knowledge and numerous small kindnesses. Mahalo for everything. We hope to come back here soon. Dan, Cathe, and family

My siblings and I were looking for a 'wow' setting to take our parents to in September in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. All 8 of us were truly overjoyed with this home! We kayaked and snorkeled in the mornings, lounged on the lanai in the afternoons, grilled for dinners, and awed at the stars at night. Turtle-spotting all day was a definite highlight! My parents declared this the best vacation of their lives, and I know this home was a huge contributor. In writing this recommendation I only hope that not too many people book because we want this 'wow' again soon! (Kalia - Please take note!) :-)

We stayed at this house from August 8-16, 2009 and had a wonderful week. There were 9 total in our party (3 were children) and it was the perfect house for the size of our group. The beach is right there! No walking or driving to a swimable beach ~ it's off the back porch. Turtles were always on the beach or sunning on the rocks. The view of the ocean from the house is unbeatable. Nothing between you and the view except a few palm trees. The children loved having the ocean that close and there were no worries about them playing in the tide pools or water. It was calm and shallow enough for them (youngest was 5) to spend hours in the ocean every day. The adults loved the layout of the house. The common area was in the main house and the bedrooms were all seperate. It was perfect for our vacation with extended family. Would love to return!

We have stayed at this property twice and are headed there again in February with three other couples. We love the location, the view from the lanai is the best on the island, and the layout with the separate sleeping and living quarters is ideal. We love that a bathroom has been added to the king unit as that eliminates the inequitable situation of walking five steps across the courtyard to a bathroom. Aren't we all spoiled? The whale watching could keep you happy all day.

We rented 2 Puako Beach cottages for our family of 16 attending a memorial celebration. The large "cottage"# 153785 was perfect for our gathering. It is recently redecorated in tasteful Hawaiian style. Meals, games, remembrances held on the spacious ocean front lanai and lawn. A grand experience.
