Location: Newport, Central Coast, Oregon, USA (12 miles South of Newport; 2.5 hours to Portland or Eugene)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Our own personal retreat on the central Oregon coast has two bedrooms, with queen-size and twin beds, and a comfortable, queen hide-a-bed in the vaulted, pine-ceiling living room. High speed internet makes staying in touch a breeze!
Perfect for families, retirees, two couples, or the solo vacationer. This airy one-level home sits among sitka spruce, shore pines, huckleberries, and ferns. A one-minute walk to the beach with easy access for seniors and children. From the well-equipped kitchen and sunny, protected deck you will see light glinting off water between trees, listen to birdsongs, and enjoy the stillness of the immense night sky far from city lights.
Explore some of the coast's best tidepools or walk the long, clean, sandy beach. Watch the sunset. Go crabbing in nearby Waldport, five minutes away, where large supermarkets, a video store, gourmet coffees, and restaurants supply all of your basic needs.
Newport, home of the famous Oregon Coast Aquarium and the Mark Hatfield Science Center, is just twenty minutes north with superb oceanfront dining, a performing arts center, and galleries. Quaint shops, eateries, large docks of yachts and fishing boats, a Madame Tussard's wax museum, and other family entertainment line Newport's Historic Bayfront, while the Rogue Brewery's tasting room is just across the picturesque bay bridge.
Other nearby activities include whale watch cruises, fishing charters, hiking old-growth trails in the coast range's Drift Creek Wilderness, mushrooming (in season), Sea Lion Caves (the largest on the Pacific Coast), horseback riding on the beach - just a half-hour south, historic lighthouses, national and state parks and scenic areas, waterfalls, wine tours, and Oregon sand dunes.

As usual the Oregon June weather did not give us the sun we had hoped for. However, we enjoyed ourselves just the same. Due to recent physical challenges we did not stay at our usual favorite motel in Lincoln City. The beach access there is a steep hike. This h as an easy trek and despite the rain, we went to the beach every day. Our granddaughter enjoyed running free in the wind and water. This is a very sweet cabin. So glad to have found you on the "net": it was great to have a cosy place to enjoy our family. Thanks a bunch. (copied from guest book inside the house: June 2006)

My wife and I love it here. Very cosy and close to the beach. I've never been to the coast but my wife has. This cabin has made it a great experience. We plan to come back sometime. The first two days rained but thank God the next two days were bright as heaven. Thank you and have a good one. (copied from guest book in the house, June 18, 2006)
