What A Refreshing Vacation

Guest: Harold & Carol (Seneca, SC)
Date of Stay: 04/21/12 Review Submitted: 04/30/12

We just finished our vacation at the "farm house" and while we were there for 8 days, it passed much too quickly. Pam and German have gone to a lot of effort to insure that we had all the comforts of home yet offer the visitors a visit to a simplier time and place. We found the farm clean and welcoming and there was a coffee cake waiting for us on arrival. There are books, games and movies for all ages but that was only a part of charm of the cabin. It is large with large rooms, well equipted and very clean. We are "city dwellers" but the wife has farm days in her past and she totally fell in love with all of the animals. We are frequent visitors to the Pigeon Forge area and I usually get drug around from shop to shop and get to play banker for my shopper. This time, she spent hours and hours with the horses and all the other 4 legged and 2 legged animals brushing, fattening them up with apples and carrots and other goodies. German was the host that my wife saw the most and he told her all about how the animals joined them on the farm....they all have a story and have been rescued to finish out a life with love and dignity. German told told her that many people connect with these friendly critters and told her of a little boy that wrapped himself around Blan-Kote, the dog, and cried when he had to leave....I thought I was going to have to unwrap my wife from around the horses and tie her to the top of the truck....she hated leaving so bad and the same with me. While I didn't spend the time with the animals, I have a fast paces highly competitive job and the down time, the peaceful farm was worth much more than I could have possibly paid for the visit. I must admit this is a different concept, renting a farm, instead of the numerous cabins we have visited, but it is an experience that we are already planning to do again as soon as possible. We are working on a trip for the fall, this time with friends. I guess I have rambled enough. We want to thank you, Pam and German, for making your "farm" available to us and other visitors. I think other visitors before us felt lucky to have discovered your "farm" and those that visit after us will surely fell the same.

Owner response:Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The animals really loved the attention they got from Carol. They miss you all. I hope you can come back to the Farm soon.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!

Pam, my family had a blast at your farm. The treat you left for us was such a nice welcome. We went to see the beautiful horses first and they also gave us a warm welcome. It was like coming home! We met Shannon on the first evening and she let the boys gather a couple duck eggs. They thought that was devine!! We met your husband the next morning as he was tending the farm. It was at that time we found out that yall had actually rescued many of the animals!! The house was so warm and well decorated!! My son wants to live at the farm! I had to promise that we would visit again next spring break!! Thank you again for a great time!!!!!

Owner response:Thank you - glad you had a great time. Sorry, I did not get to meet you as I was working. I hope to meet you next time. All the animals love the attention and as you can tell they are spoiled! We all look forward to your next visit.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING AND YOU WILL WANT TO COME BACK!!!

Guest: JMJWEST (Tennessee)
Date of Stay: 03/02/12 Review Submitted: 04/22/12

This is a FARM HOUSE! Just as is says! It is incredibly cozy and very tastefully decorated. Every bedroom has a quilt on the bed and the views out the windows overlook the farm, stream, and farm animals. It is a beautiful place and simply put, peacefulness personified. This would be a perfect place for family get-togethers, Thanksgiving and Christmas Family get-togethers, or just a relaxing week or weekend away from the hustle and bustle of real life. It is about 20 min or so to DollyWood. So you are close enough to enjoy all the entertainment of Pigeon Forge but you’re out of the traffic of town and in the beautiful country. If you love to cook and entertain for your family as much as I do.... you will fall in love with the kitchen. It is HUGE! This kitchen has more cooking pots, pans, utensils, etc. than you will ever need! There is a bar with stools for your guests while you cook and a dining room table in front of TWO catty corner sliding glass doors which open to a huge deck that goes almost all the way around the house. So, as you dine and cook you have the beautiful view of the outside stream and animals. The master bedroom is a blessing! This room is huge. I can see this as a place for you to escape from your family if you need to. You have television and a rocking chair, a giant Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, a very upscale all tile walk in shower with upper and lower shower heads, and more towels than you will ever need! There were even two robes we found hanging in our closet when we unloaded our luggage!!! I thought that was a wonderful bonus! There are too many bonuses to name. My husband and I are grateful we found this diamond in the country and we will definitely be back again and again!

What a Thanksgiving

Guest: renae (-)
Date of Stay: 11/20/11 Review Submitted: 12/01/11

We really had a good time at The Farm. The cake that was waiting for us was great. We really enjoyed all the animals eating behind the house , even though our boxer wasn't sure she liked them. The horses and goat loved the carrots we fed them. We had our family of 18 over for Thanksgiving lunch and had plenty of room for everyone. The location is secluded but it only takes about 15 minutes to get to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg on the short cuts. The list of restaurants and back roads was so helpful and kept us out of all the busy roads. We went to Cades Cove and saw lots of deer, turkey and a bear. The only bad part was having to leave and come home. Thanks for sharing your great getaway with us

Owner response:You are so very welcome. Glad everyone enjoyed it! Hope to see you back soon. Take care and tell everyone hello - give the baby a hug from us!

Thanks so much for letting us stay at your beautiful home. My family had plenty of room. It was so accessable to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Cades Cove. When we arrived Pam had the lamp on and music playing. She even baked a sweet treat for us, and we enjoyed every bite. Fell in love with the horses, ducks, dog and goat. We liked to feed them every morning. We are already planning next year and a longer visit. This was one of the best places we have ever stayed.....

Owner response:Glad you had a good time. The animals miss you and their morning feeding! :) They are fat and sazzy! Hope to see you again.

LOVE the jacuzzi tub!! The property is wonderful with all the farm animals that come right up close around the Farmhouse! Addie enjoyed everything as well! :)Thanks again for a memorable trip and we plan to come next year! Joe and Julie

Owner response:So glad you enjoyed your stay. Its so nice to get away from the hectic part of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and relax after fighting the traffic and people. Absolutely wonderful!

Guest: Bree (Arkansas)
Date of Stay: 09/07/11 Review Submitted: 11/09/11

Let me start by saying I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND this property as a vacation spot! The house is large and well-kept. The owners are fantastic. The animals are great. The location is perfect. We stumbled upon vbro.com by accident while looking for places to stay in Tennessee and I am so glad we did! The owners are exceptionally nice people and they have thought of absolutely everything you could possibly want or need and provided it in the farm house. It's the small things that make it feel like you're at home, only better (because it's home away from home)! There are tons of things to do nearby; Smokies, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. No excuses about not being able to find anything to do! Of course, too, you can always just hang around the farm and relax on the porch, sit at the picnic table beside the creek or pet the animals! Don't forget the carrots though ? I just wish I'd found this place sooner so I could've made a longer reservation! If I ever get to go back to the Smokies, this will be my first stop!

Owner response:Glad you had a good time. We try to make it "home away from home". I remember when we use to rent cabins - there was no toilet paper, paper towels, very few kitchen utensils, few towels, etc. . I said I would never do that if we had a cabin. So, I am holding to my promise. All you have to do is walk in - bring food, family and friends! Everything else is there.

The Summer People are here AGAIN!!!

Guest: Kathryn (Denton Texas)
Date of Stay: 06/24/11 Review Submitted: 07/09/11

This place is so great! Our family comes up here each summer to get away from Texas heat and have been here the last few years to spend the summer. Have been the last 3 years and stayed for 10 days. I have 2 teenagers and they love all the stuff to do here. Great place to go. Didn't get over 90 degrees each day we there and was over 100 degrees at home. It is very relaxing to just sit on front porch swing or hang out on back deck watching animals beg for food at the fence. Skinny isn't so skinny anymore. Missed Pam and German this trip but looking forward to seeing you next year. Pam, I guess we will have to let you know which week we are coming so we maybe we can enjoy some of your delicious desserts you make, never seems to be any left by the time we get there. The cabin has a great location located within minutes to area attractions but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of main traffic on strip. As I said looking forward to next year....see ya soon.

Owner response:HI Kathryn So sorry we missed you on your visit - we were on vacation as well. You will have to let me know when your coming next year so I can make you a dessert. We love having your family here. You mom is teaching me to can fresh vegetables! All part of being in east TN and enjoying the laid back atmosphere! Hope to see the "Summer People" next year Pam and German

Another great Summer trip to the Farm House. So relaxing and the friendship and hospitality of the owners and neighbors is remarkable. The weather and location are terrific especially after leaving hot Texas. We hope the animals are not waiting at the back fence for their evening snacks. We miss them terribly. Hope to see you at Christmastime. Thanks for everything!!!!!!

Loved it Once Again!

Guest: KG&Company (AL)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/09/11

Again, we loved it. We left with sobbing children that wanted to stay. Plenty of room, convenient to the National Park- All the conveniences of home but a whole lot more relaxing. My one complaint would be the brownies. Someone, and I won't name names, went for double and triple servings leaving smaller portions for the rest of us. The boys are big enough now to do the bootie scoot down the stairs. They loved that. They swam in the massive tub and the king bed was big enough for all the boys to climb in and share with nina and paw paw. Needless to say the horses and animals are a big hit and we now have our own Pyrenees after our last visit to the farm. The boys wanted to name him Blancote as well but we figured he was one of a kind so we settled on Bear as a fitting tribute. We've stayed in a lot of cabins/homes in the Smokies, but for a family and a family with children, this is hands down the place to be. It has the room, the amenities, the conveniences and the location to set it apart from the rest. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay in your home.

Owner response:SO HAPPY - you enjoyed your stay again. Our biggest compliements are those who come back and refer us to others. Hope to see you next year!

A week was not long enough!

Guest: Jean (Silver Spring Maryland)
Date of Stay: 04/18/11 Review Submitted: 04/26/11

We stayed for a week at the farmhouse in April. The house was clean, homey and very well stocked. We had 4 adults in our party and found everything we could ask for. There were games and movies for evenings. We also enjoyed the back deck and had all but 2 meals outside listening to the creek and watching the horses. The owners were very easy to work with and treated us like new found friends. When we arrived we found a tray of homemade cupcakes and an assortment of maps, brochures and other useful tidbits to help us plan our days adventures. The location is perfect. The park is less than a 15 minute drive. We hiked to Laurel Falls and Grotto Falls in the park and drove the loop at Cades Cove 3 times. This is a must. We saw bears, wild turkeys and white tailed deer everytime we drove the loop. We played tourist in Gatlinburg one day (20-25 minute drive) and drove through Pigeon Forge (15 minute drive) and looked at the attractions there. Townsend is only 7 minutes down the road and although it was too cold to go tubing when we were there, we could see several places that provided shuttles on the river for tubing. We took Pam and German's advice and ate dinner at Happy Jacks BBQ. Excellent ribs and very reasonable. We also took their advice and went to Honeysuckle Rose for souvenirs. Very cute shop. Kids will love the farmhouse. There are horses, a goat named Skinny, chickens, ducks, an elusive barn cat and the star... Blancody the resident stock dog. The pictures of the house actually do not do it justice. I would recommend the farmhouse to anyone considering a visit to the area.

Owner response:Thank you Jean and Ron for the review. We are so pleased you had a great time and the weather wasn't bad either! It was a pleasure to meet you and your family. If you come back in the future we hope you remember the Farm House.

Best Vacation Ever!

Guest: Schmidt Family (Crestview, FL)
Date of Stay: 03/20/11 Review Submitted: 03/28/11

What is not to love about the Farm House! From the moment you pull up you see all of the animals waiting to greet you. When you open the front door it is like something out of Country Living!! The house is decorated beautifully and the amenities are above and beyond! From the cupcakes left for our arrival to the mud boots for everyone there was nothing left out! The kids thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the animals and being able to help feed and ride the horses. I can't thank you enough for taking the time and having the patience to let the kids ride. The kids loved the animals, the tire swing, making smores over the fire pit and sitting in front of the fireplace inside as we played Apples to Apples. There is plenty to do know matter what the weather. We hiked the Smokey Mountains in search of waterfalls (I suggest you skip Rainbow falls, it was a 5 hr hike round trip in very steep areas and a disappointing waterfall), went white water rafting, fishing, shopping, stayed inside and played games and the entire family enjoyed Wonderworks. Our kids ( ages 14 and 10) have never gotten along so well in years! This was definately the best vacation our family has ever taken! We are looking forward to another stay at the Farm House in the near future. Thank you again Pam and German for a wonderful visit.

I am almost 52 years old and have traveled all over the world and I can honestly say this was the best vacation I ever had. It is peaceful and beautiful. I loved feeding the horses in the afternoon and watching the animals. The house was warm and inviting (we were there in late February and there was snow). I can't wait to go back. I was there only with my boyfriend, but next time we are bring our grown children and their spouses to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Our hosts were wonderful and anything that we needed, they helped us get.

What a wonderful home to 'get away' to! We enjoyed every minute of this beautiful, cozy, roomy home. The pictures just don't do it justice! There is not an amenity that Pam doesn't think of in this home and I can understand why there are so many people who come back again and again! Clean and airy, this home is a dream!

Owner response:Thank Amy We are glad you love the house. It was nice to meet you, Ronald and the dogs. You have your hands full! Glad the dogs enjoyed the large yard so they could roam and run with out concern of cars. We try to make it a "home away from home" and you don't have to worry about bringing everything you need to cook with or incidentals such as garbage bags or laundry soap so you can have more time to enjoy your stay. Take care and we hope to see you again Pam and German

Home away from home!

Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 02/15/11

What an awesome family vacation week! It is very hard to get all of us together for that amount of time since everyone has their work and/or school obligations, but we made it work this time, and we are so glad we had the Farm House to go to!! It's like coming home! It had been and was still snowing when we pulled in, so we ran inside and got our snow clothes on and went outside before even unpacking and played in the snow ~ built our snow lady, made snow angels, and went sledding on the property with the sleds at the house. We were also greeted with a beautifully decorated house with the Christmas tree still up and all the decorations, so it still felt like being home for Christmas. Unfortunately, our friends, Pam and German, were visiting family while we were there so we missed out on our visit with them. The Farm House was so nice and cozy and had everything we needed, including the great fireplace to warm up to after playing in the snow. We also stayed busy every single day we were there with everything there was to do close by from Cades Cove to Dollywood to Ruby Falls to Cumberland Falls, not to mention the shopping and restaurants (especially Apple Barn). This was our second time staying here, but certainly not our last ~ we will be back!! Thanks, Pam and German, for everything!

Owner response:Hey Monica and family Glad you enjoyed your stay. You wanted snow as your Christmas present - I'm glad your gift arrived on time. Sorry we missed you. Normally, I would have had a coffee cake for you but we were out of town. So, I owe you one. Hope to see you in Florida this summer. Take care and come back when you can Pam and German

We just completed our 4th stay at the farm house yesterday! As always it was wonderful. I can't say enough great things about this place. The pictures don't do it justice~ it is always decorated so cute and homey. The house is ALWAYS spotless when we arrive and we never have any issues. Pam and German are very helpful and there always seems to be some new perk (porch swing and firepit benches this time). There is a ton of stuff to do nearby...Cades Cove, The Dragons Tail, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. And perfect location for those wanting to hike~the jacuzzi tub is wonderful after hiking The Chimney Tops!!!! Oh ---and the ANIMALS!!! Sigh.....what's not to LOVE!!! When I win the LOTTO, I hope that I can talk Pam out of this place :)....5+stars

Pam and German, what an amazing place The Farm House is!! Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. We stayed Nov 10 - 15 and wished that we had another day just to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet that the Smokeys has to offer! The Farm House was so warm and inviting. We were greeted by music as we entered the house and the best part was the delicious coffee cake left for us to enjoy for the next morning as we arrived too late to buy groceries. Well, the coffee cake did not last till next morning, we had to have it that night! It was wonderful! I would love to have recipe, Pam. The house was so clean and smelled so fresh. It offered everything we needed and more. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you can imagine; coffee, sugar, cream, coke, snacks and anything else you would expect to find in a kitchen. We loved the country setting with all the animals, the barn, the creek and the amazing views. This is a place where you can make yourself at home and enjoy the privacy and peace and quiet of the country. Definitely, a great place to relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of every day life. Thank you Pam and German for sharing your Farm House with us. We would love to come back!!

We stayed at this farm house a couple of weeks ago & it was very nice. All the comforts of home. Everything was clean & was decorated so cute. We were greeted with soft music when we arrived & a delicious coffee cake. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting a quite getaway which also accepts your pet. I would love to go back here again sometime.

Owner response:I am so glad you enjoyed the Farm House. We try to make it "like your coming back home" and comfortable. Its so hard to find that "old fashion feeling" like when you were a child and going to your grandparents house and all was perfect. That is what we try to accomplish that "old fashion feeling" . So when you want to "come back home" feel free to do so!! Pamela and German

I was so worn out and hungry upon arriving in Wears Valley, BUT pulling in the drive of the farmhouse woke me right away! I walked into this fantastic home to find a delicious baked cake, which I have to admit I ate 2 pieces before even thinking of unloading the car!! Pam & German, who are fabulous people, have stocked the farmhouse with everything you need. Thanks both of you for a very special dinner, and I won't forget Diva nite! If you want peaceful quite time you will find it at the farmhouse. Cinammon, Dude, Skinny, Blancote, and all the rest of the critters are just wonderful animals. And Cades Cove which is so close, just takes your breath away! I was lucky enough to see 2 bears in one gorgeous morning! After hiking everyday the jacuzzi was the place to be!! If peaceful is not what you are looking for, then Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are not far away. There are so many good things I can say about the farmhouse, Pam & German and yes all the animals, but you should go there and find out for yourself!

What a great place to spend the Summer with our children and grandchildren!!! We were so relaxed we did not want to return home to Texas heat. The hospitality and fellowship we had with the owners made us feel that the farmhouse was our home away from home. We loved feeding the animals and fishing in the pond. The location is fantastic for sightseeing, hiking, floating the creek, visiting Dollywood and just shopping. So many activities to keep busy. We loved our visit and are planning to do it again. Thanks again for everything.

Owner response:Hi Margaret and Larry Soooo glad you enjoyed your summer. We love having your family here and we are looking forward to your next visit. Thank you for feeding the baby ducks - they still come to the back yard at the farm house for bread! :) Hope to see ya next year. Pam and German

This place is great. I could learn to live there I'm sure. The kids had a great time and so did us adults. We only wish that we had spent more time at the Farmhouse. Everything from home and more too. We can't wait to go back.

Owner response:Glad you enjoyed! Everyone with children loves this place as they do not worry about cars or kids falling off the mountain. It is truly a family environment and ment to be for the family to enjoy the outdoor life with the animals. The animals all loved your stay and the attention! We look forward to your next visit!

Not enough space to say just how much we enjoyed this home. It is a home, not your typical rental. It was spacious, comfortable and homey complete with a fresh baked cake waiting on us when we arrived. Condiments were already in the frig, bug spray (I always pack off because mountain mosquitos can carry you away), things you don't find in a typical rental. I could have packed half of what I carried because everything I thought we might need was already there, A small stream on the property was perfect for the kids, pond and the animals - what can I say. I'm terrified of dogs, but I've been on line all morning searching for Great Pyreneese breeders. The boys sobbed and I mean sobbed when they had to leave the animals - especially Blan-cote. Garrett loved Dude and we have pictures of Mason that are priceless, squatting with his arms like wings squawking like a chicken at the barn. They wanted to come home from Dollywood to play with the animals. The 22 month old went on the deck every morning to call the dog and horses to the fence and surprisingly the obliged. Did I say the dog is amazing. He walked the boys home from the barn each evening and stood at attention until they got in the house. The yard was level and the boys could play. The house was spacious and inviting and we felt like we were in a home and not a rental. There were all types of board games, badminton set, three TVs, commercial style grill, rocking chairs on the porch - clean. When we rented a VRBO we were hoping for the best because we typically rent from a company, but we got more than we ever expected. We loved it, our grandsons loved it. We highly recommend.

Owner response:Thank You Kathy for your response. We are so pleased you enjoyed the house. We try to make it "home away from home" "mi casa ses su casa". Sorry we did not get to meet you this trip but hope you come back so we can. The critters are anxiously awaiting your future visit!

The cabin was very nice, clean and roomy. My kids had a great time playing outside because they had so much room to run around in and I did not have to worry about cars or strangers. We had a great time visiting Dollywood and all the great shopping in Pigeon Forge. I would totally recommend this great find to families looking for a home away from home!

This was our 4th trip to this establishment, we love this part of TN. So much to do and the cabin was beautiful. The kids enjoyed running around and having everyone stay under one roof was the best part. Couldn't have asked for a better location, scenery and comfort. We will definitley be back!

We have stayed at this cabin since we sold ours because of it's location. It is very peaceful, private, plenty of room to get out and roam to view the mountains. We don't have horses, but it is ready for anyone who has them. We feel Pam and Armond would go out of their way to make anyone who stays there comfortable. Try It,don't think you will be disappointed.
