This 1920's Colonial double corner lot home is located on Chicago's Northside neighborhood of Rogers Park, one mile west of Lake Michigan. The downtown commuter train, METRA, is two blocks away - you can board a train and be downtown in less than 20 minutes! The Chicago subway El stop is five blocks away, equally fast and will take you to any number of downtown locations. Immediately to the north of Rogers Park is Evanston, home of Northwestern University - 10 minutes away and easily reached by car or train. Evanston is a wonderful college town with shops, boutiques, art galleries, theaters and cinemas to visit, and a number of wonderful restaurants, making it a destination for city and suburban dwellers.

This house is set in a quiet residential neighborhood. The first floor has a living room (25' x 14'), dining room (14' x 14'), kitchen (14' x 14') and den (16' x 9'). This main level has hardwood floors throughout and a woodburning fireplace. The 4 bedrooms upstairs are carpeted with grey berber carpet (4th upstairs bedroom is office with computer for your use with high speed internet). Dual zone Heating and air conditioning. Downstairs has a den, laundry, 5th bedroom and full bathroom. The home has a large rear yard and deck with a gas BBQ directly off the kitchen.

There is a small park across street (Matanky Playlot), ideal for small children. Four blocks is Warren Park, one of the largest parks in the city of Chicago, with a nine hole golf course, batting cages, ice skating rink, sledding hill, tennis courts, and skate park.

You can walk to some restaurants (Baker's Square, Heartland Cafe Diner). Less than one mile away is the the city's largest concentration if Indian, Pakistani and vegetarian restaurants, as well as other Asian and middle eastern cuisines. Within 10 minute drives are both very trendy neighborhoods (Andersonville, Edgewater, Lincoln Square), Ravenswood artisan cooperatives and ethnic centers.

Lake Michigan is one mile from the house, where Chicagoans relax, fish, boat and swim, bike or stroll along the 20 mile lakefront path. Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, is a 15 minute drive by car, and 10 minute trip by bus or el. Lincoln Park, 20 minutes away, contains a wonderful zoo (free entry), the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and a botanical garden.

  • Several members of my family both from the west and east coasts came together in this house for a family reunion. The house is lovely, clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen size and layout allowed for 5 cooks at a time. Between the kitchen and the dining room, we had no trouble eating together. The living room and den made for great gathering places where we could reminisce, watch the game, or play trivial pursuit and apples to apples. There were twelve of us (adults) and we all were able to sleep privately and comfortably. It was wonderful to have the grill and deck and we loved eating breakfast out on the picnic tables. Yehuda has thought of everything. There was even a large cooler to bring along on our picnic. We had a perfectly lovely time and will definitely stay here when we come back to Chicago.   • The house worked really well for a 6-person company get-together. There was lots of space to meet for both work and socializing (we enjoyed cooking on the grill!) and it was not too long a drive for nights out in downtown Chicago. Thanks for everything!

  • I hosted my 40th birthday party here, and I was so, so happy with everything. The house is marvelous--the photos really don't do it justice; it is even more spacious in real life. I had clusters of people lining up in the kitchen to roll their own eggrolls, and no one got underfoot. Yehuda treated me like family rather than a weekend tenant. Parking for a dozen cars in the area on a Saturday night posed no problem. Traffic was not a nightmare. The big monster grocery store was relatively close. I wish I were still there and having another party tonight! Thank you, Yehuda, for making my dream eggroll party possible in the city I love most! I only wish you'd been able to stop by, as well.   • We have stayed at the Cohen's home twice in the last year. It's a great colonial home that really made us feel at home! We have stayed downtown before, but loved this location because the commuter METRA train is 2 blocks away and we could take the train 15 minutes to downtown or see our friends who live nearby easily. This is a great home and Ellen and Yehuda gave us lots of great tips to get the most out of our stay. There's a great playground literally across the street where our kids played alot and we also took them to Warren Park which is 2 blocks away. We will be coming back! The Ney Family
