Whenever, your vacation plans are being made... or a wedding is in the planning - it is a good plan to secure your time at Clemons' Cottage. Once you have decided that the Outer Banks and Roanoke Island area are to be your destination, reserve your dates for the comfort of a cottage nestled in the quaint historic Manteo waterfront area on Roanoke Island. You get to be private yet convenient to all this area has to offer.
Roanoke Island, the Town of Manteo, and Clemons' Cottage are the perfect places from which to explore the Outer Banks of North Carolina. You have a days adventure in either direction ... south to Ocracoke and Hatteras Island...north to Corolla and Duck...or...simply leave the car parked at the cottage and stroll to all of the historic areas of waterfront downtown Manteo and Roanoke Island Festival Park.
But remember, there is only one Clemons' Cottage, so when you have determined your plans, it is a good idea to also secure those dates. We have taken reservations in as much as a year in advance.
Clemons' Cottage is the perfect retreat for enjoying this area and the Town of Manteo. If you plan to attend a wedding at the Elizabethan Gardens, we are a short ride away. If the wedding is at the Manteo Waterfront or anywhere in the Olde Towne Manteo, we are a short "walk" away. If the reception might be at 108 Budleigh...we are but a pleasant stroll away and it is short miles to Mallards Marsh, Roanoke Island's newest reception site.
Clemons' Cottage is indeed in the heart of town, yet so private. Fourth of July is a magical time, with the ship Elizabeth II lolling in the water and the fireworks overhead. Makes you realize how it all came about. You will be walking distance to all of the festivities. Most any reason is a good reason to visit Roanoke Island and the Town of Manteo.
When planning your vacation, secure your reserved time as soon as you know your dates. No concern for hurricanes as Clemons' Cottage guarantees full refund of evacuated dates whenever mandatory evacuation is ordered for Roanoke Island.
Clemons'Cottage is located on the corner of Budleigh and Uppowoc Streets, next to a two story historic house. Years ago this charming cottage was moved to the site from the shores of the Outer Banks and thereafter served as home to many of the original families on Roanoke Island.
Now it has been transformed into an enchantingly private cottage for visitors to our island and carries with it a true island experience. Hopefully, it will become "your island cottage" in the years ahead, as an annual vacation holiday destination on Roanoke Island. Clemons' Cottage is a non-smoking dwelling.
From the back porch, there is a picket-fenced yard with shade trees. Here is where your island chairs await you. It is a perfect setting in which to relax and reflect on your day's activities and to contemplate your adventure for tomorrow - or set up the barbeque for a casual lunch or dinner. All of the equipment and supplies are provided for the barbeque you...supply the meal.
Your pet is welcome to join you, but must never be left unattended unless in his/her own travel kennel. Of course, when exercised on the grounds or in the area, you will pick up after him/her. There is a pet fee.
Clemons'Cottage is within walking distance to downtown Manteo and the waterfront. From this location, you may walk along the waterfront where all manner of restaurant is to be found, as well as, a luxurious full-service spa, art dealers, jewelers, potters, quality specialty shops, and museums. An early AM stroll to the Coffee House for its many options of coffee or tea, along with some very fine pastries. Stop at the Manteo Bookseller across from the Coffee House.
It has the best ambiance of all book shops - pick out a book or magazine from a vast selection for all ages. There 2 bikes for guest use at the cottage, and if more are needed, bicycles are available for rent at the waterfront. Bike paths extend the length of Roanoke Island. The Pioneer Theatre is a block and a half away, with movies nightly at 8:00. Nearby grocery stores are reasonable and fully stocked at all times. Everything in historic Manteo is a step away and the cottage provides a secluded haven following your walk or day's adventure.
Roanoke Island Festival Park is also close by and well within walking distance. In addition to the tour of the Elizabeth II ship, Museum, and Museum shop, indoor features provide entertainment on a rainy or blustery day. During the summer months, the park has concerts on a regular schedule. We provide beach chairs or mats for your use when attending the evening programs. Roanoke Island Festival Park is a genuine hub of Roanoke Island activity. You will feel welcomed by the congenial staff and friendly volunteers.
We have enjoyed the preparation and decoration of this enchanting cottage for your comfort and pleasure. There is a selection of DVDs and VCR tapes for you and your children available in the cottage to enjoy while visiting. We enjoy our guests and look forward to your visit with us.

Cocoa and Barley say, "Clemmons Cottage rocks!" Mom and Dad took us there for Thanksgiving and we had a blast. There was a nice outdoor yard to play and romp in (while supervised of course). There was a water bowl on hand (er uh, paw) for us and Mom says the kitchen was stocked with just about any cooking utensil you'd ever need! Nearby brewery and quaint restaurants. Cottage is just a hop, skip and a jump from the other really good and locally famous restaurants on the OBX as well. Mom and Dad highly recommend Owen's, and Ocean Boulevard Bistro. Also, if you are into micor-brews, the Weeping Radish in Grandy is a must. They also love dogs! The cottage was just as the description indicated - charming and super dog friendly. Everything was clean as a whistle and we lacked for nothing while there. We would recommend this property to all dogs (and people).
Owner response:how fun to have Cocoa and Barley--they sent me a picture too! Come back soon to Clemons Cottage

What a wonderful little hide-away! The description and pictures of the cottage are exactly what you get. Because we had our dog with us, we ate most of our meals at the cottage. While the kitchen and prep area are quite small, it served us well as we enjoyed Shrimp, Clams, Crabs, Pastas ... even baked a cake and cookies! It was especially nice to have linens and towels (kitchen and bath) provided; this is something I've been unaccustomed to, as we've always had to bring our own when we've come to the Outer Banks. In a beautiful setting and neighborhood, the cottage is a 5-minute walk from the Waterfront, Restaurants, Shopping, Fishing, Docks, Boat Tours, etc. Information about the area is provided in the cottage; I highly recommend the Manteo Walking Tour to really gain understanding and appreciation for this historic area. My communications with the Owner were extremely pleasant and responsive, as were those with the on-site contact person. I loved working with the actual owner, versus a rental agent/company; the experience was so much more personal. We love Manteo and spend time there everytime we go to the Outer Banks, but that being said, I was concerned as to how badly I would miss staying "oceanfront". In fact, we didn't miss it at all. We were about a 10 minute drive away from our favorite beach area and a favorite local restaurant, Sam & Omies in Nags Head. We loved being able to bike (bicycles provided!) and walk around the neighborhoods and down to the Waterfront, rather than getting in the car to go everywhere. We spent many hours fishing and taking walks. The included Internet Access and Long-Distance Phone Service were also much appreciated. Many of the area Restaurants had outdoor seating, where we were welcome with our little dog. The Full Moon Cafe even made a point of offering her a snack and a bowl of water! Overall, this was one of our best stays ever in the Outer Banks area, and we will certainly seek out Clemons Cottage again in the future. Thank you so much!
Owner response:Thank you for coming and thank you for the marvelous review! You have completely summed up the essence of Clemon's Cottage. I am so glad you enjoyed the entire experience of Roanoke Island. I love it too! Please come to see us again.

My family and I have stayed in the cottage three times, and each visit was great! We are a military family on a budget, so we look for the best deals and good locations for our yearly vacation. (Usually centered around deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan.) The cottage is cute and comfortable. We LOVE Manteo for the proximity to everything beachy or touristy without paying outrageous prices. Our daughters love the area so much that they want us to move there! We have eaten at Magnolia grille for breakfast, Ortegaz for dinner (awesome food and service!), have been on Captain Johnny's dolphin watch (saw tons of dolphins!), walked to all of the downtown shops and to the Elizabethan Gardens. We will always return to this area for vacation as we have fallen in love with it! Oh, and for good, inexpensive pizza try Garden Deli across from The Christmas Shoppe.

We stayed at Clemons Cottage for several days last year and were delighted with it (as was our dog). We are not into the condo scene, however spiffy and dog-friendly they make them. Clemons was clean and well-equipped, and well-located near the shops and restaurants of Manteo. The quiet little yard was pleasant to sit in with a cup of coffee and a book, and it was a short and charming walk to the Manteo boardwalk. We plan to return soon.
Owner response:Thank you for your wonderful review. I am so you chose Clemons Cottage. Always nice to hear that the furry companions enjoyed their stay as well! I appreciate your return visit
