If you want to visit the Smoky Mountain area but not be hassled with all the traffic and "touristy stuff" of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, the Appalachian is the place for you. Not that you are far away, because you are probably only 20 minutes away, if that's what you like. The Appalachian was immaculate, and fully equipped. Robin even provided information about local eateries and attractions. Having WI FI access in the Smoky Mountains is also a very good thing- that's one of the reasons that we chose the Appalachian. We spent a week there and can't wait to return! And be sure to visit the Little River BBQ - Amazing!!

Not sure where to start! Planning a last, and I mean LAST minute vacation can be very hard to do! I had Robin and Dave's cabins saved to my favorites for the future, but when I was able to get away for a short vacay to the Smokies I called Robin and she came to the rescue! Thanks to her I was packed and on the road within 2 hours! Her directions made it so easy to find the Appalachian. I knew I was maybe a mile away and was so tired all I could think of was taking a nap. Well, that thought got lost somewhere when I pulled into the drive! This cabin is set back in the woods and when I stepped inside the door I was amazed. Robin and Dave have created a home away from home with everything you would need and more. There is a binder with instructions for everything and the local restaraunt menus, that was a plus in deciding where to eat. I did end up getting a nap in, but that was after an hour in the nice warm hot tub out back and relaxing in the screened porch. There is so much peace and quiet at the Appalachian but yet so close to Townsend and the Great Smokies. Cades Cove is a must! I had the pleasure of meeting Robin and Dave and they were so kind to take me on a tour of their other cabin Mountain Breeze! I am safely home now but wishing I was still waking up at one of Robin's cabins!

If you're looking for the PERFECT location, you'll have to check this one out. The "Appalachian" offers a quiet, secluded setting. Yet, it's not far from a grocery store, restaurants, and shops. It offers that 'WOW" factor as soon as you pull into the driveway. Open the front door and you get a "DOUBLE WOW." The owners have given the "Appalachian" a lot of TLC. It is pristine throughout. The photos on the listing are accurate, and up-to-date, also. It you want to relax on a porch rocker, sip a cup of hot coffee, and breathe in some clean mountain air...well, this is the place for you!!! We'll definately come back in the not-too-distant future. We stayed in the Appalachian 3 nights the weekend before Christmas. The cabin is in a quiet area just a few minutes drive from the main road and it is near the Townsend entrance to the National Park, approx. 20 minutes to Cades Cove. We found the cabin very easily with directions from Robin and the GPS. There is a cabin directly across the street but no others within sight and it is very quiet. I have to say that this is the best rental we have ever stayed in. It was absolutely spotless (and I look very well), the furnishings are really nice and the kitchen is very well stocked. It was very nicely decorated for Christmas with a tree and mantle decorations and other decorations throughout. The Hot Tub was very nice on the rainy evening that we had and the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was great after a long day exploring the park. If you need something you will probably find it if you look. There is a nice washer and dryer in the cabin. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this cabin or other ones belonging to Robin.

Where do I start?! I'll start with Robin...in case I write too much about the cabin and you stop reading before I get to her!! Robin is AWESOME!!! We spoke by phone to make the reservation and she was SO friendly! In addition to the usual conversation about the rental, we had a nice chat about Townsend and I could immediately tell that she was a genuinely nice person. I had a very good feeling this was going to be a great experience. I was correct! Our first impression when arriving at The Appalachian was that it was absolutely beautiful. Nestled in the wonderfully serene woods you almost can't believe you are five minutes or so from the center of wonderful, and truly peaceful, Townsend. Once past the perfectly maintained exterior, we stepped inside and the amazement continued! You can see from the pictures that the interior is also wonderful (and perfectly maintained), but on closer exploration of the amenities we found a COMPLETELY equipped kitchen - think of everything you have at home...it's here!! Even a crockpot. Oh, and spices in the cabinet! Seriously, everythng you could possibly need. More "extra" touches - DVDs of various movie genres (even kids movies) and a nice selection of family games in the upstairs closet. The washer/dryer is new & modern, and detergent, bleach, and even Shout are provided! It goes without saying that the hot tub is fabulous! Oh but the view from the hot tub - nothing but woods!! And it too, as everything here, is in perfect operational order. There is a charcoal grill - we didn't use it, only because being a city girl I was a little nervous about how clean "bear clean" is for a grill. ;-) And I'll get to the bears in just a bit! Large supply of cut firewood ready for use. Think of your home away from home...THIS IS TRULY IT! About a ten minute drive or so to Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park; and so close to Cades Cove...in my opinion one of THE most magical places! Townsend is the perfect side of the Park. Bears...ladies and gents I can tell you they are here!! On our drive back "home" our last evening we met two bears crossing the road just 75 yards or so from the cabin. We're pretty sure they had just crossed from the back yard, heading towards the woods on the other side. What an amazing finale to our stay! I would so love to own this cabin!!!! This will now be the only place I stay in the area. You will NOT be disappointed! THANKS ROBIN!! Your personal touches are appreciated!

The cabin was very clean and well kept, and had all the utinsils to make this a home away from home. We recieved a call the day re arived to see if everything was alright that was very thoughtful. The area is great it is so close to all the attractions but out of all the crowds. The price is very reasonable. I plan on useing one of the properties again.

I hate to repeat some of the comments already posted but they are so accurate. We loved this cabin!! It was very clean and fully stocked with everything we needed. Great location! Robin is the sweetest person to deal with and extremely helpful. About 30 minutes after arriving at the cabin, she called to check on us and to make sure we were satisfied with the cabin and had everything we needed. I would also recommend this cabin to anyone. I would definitely rent this cabin again or any one of Robin's cabins.

My teenage daughter and I stayed in the Appalachian from July 24-30 2010. We loved this cabin! We were impressed when we pulled up to the cabin and it only got better when we walked in the front door. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. This cabin is better than advertised. Somehow I ended up in the upstairs bedroom. I lost out on the master bedroom because of the proximity of the Jacuzzi tub! It is very obvious that Robin and Dave take great pride in their properties. We were also lucky enough to meet them on the Saturday we arrived. Robin and I had talked and emailed when making the reservation. She was great to deal with and very accommodating in helping us meet the dates we needed. This cabin is very spacious and had all the amenities of home. We had rented cabins before where we had to supply so many of the bare essentials that I felt as if I was moving, not vacationing. Having access to a washer and dryer limited the amount of clothes we needed to pack plus having the paper products, grill and cooking utensils we would need provided was a big plus. The location of the cabin on the quiet side of the park is a plus. It was remote enough to be able to enjoy the quiet of the woods but just a 5 minute trip into Townsend. If you haven’t been to the national park before a stop at the visitor center in Townsend is a must. They have basically the same information available as the centers in the park, without the crowds. We were also close to the activities that we wanted to do in the park. We were able to hike our favorite trail (Alum Cave Bluff Trail to Mt. Leconte Lodge), discover new trails (Greenbrier School, Walker Sisters Cabin, Tremont and Abrams Falls), sightseeing along the Foothills Parkway, drive the Tail of the Dragon, biking in Cades Cove on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and kayaking. Gatlinburg, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge were also just a short drive for an afternoon of shopping. I would recommend this cabin to anyone. It is perfect for a family or for couples vacationing together. We simply had a wonderful time and are already talking about trying to vacation and stay in the Appalachian again in next year.

We stayed in Appalachian from July 31-Aug 7 2010. When we arrived we were very impressed with how clean the cabin was. This made a great first impression. This cabin is very spacious and the amenities are fantastic. Our young girls stayed in the upstairs bedroom while my wife and I enjoyed the downstairs bedroom. The cabin is very peaceful and we slept GREAT. We enjoyed eating on the screened in porch and listening to the sounds of nature. There are MANY things to do for people of all ages in the Townsend area. I would recommend going to the visitor center in Townsend and getting the '50 things to do while in Townsend' brochure. It was very helpful and we wish we had found this right upon our arrival. We also had the pleasure to meet the owner of the cabin, it is evident they take great pride in the upkeep of their property. Again, it was first class. Food prices at the local IGA grocery store were very reasonable and we made most of our own meals in the cabin. Laurel Valley Country Club is a very nice place to golf. Also check out the Rocky Top Fudge place in Wears valley. Good stuff. I would recommend this cabin to anyone. We simply had a great time and hope to stay there again in the next year.
