This beautiful, Scandinavian-inspired, sustainably built stuga (or country house), nestled in the forest and along a cascading stream is surrounded by 24 acres of private land. It is your perfect secluded retreat available to rent to 1-2 couples, or single families.
In the heart of the Pacific Northwest, the property is also bordered by national forest with private access to endless hiking trails, hidden waterfalls, and complete privacy. Clear creek lies directly in front of the stuga and is met with another tributary, adorned with alder trees and twisted old growth cedar roots. It's a spectacular view while sitting in front of the fireplace with light snow falling outside.
The home is filled with traditional antiques and uniquely constructed fixtures that marry a charming cottage feeling with simplistic elegance. Completely remodeled and built from hand, the materials are nearly all from reclaimed vintage homes around Portland. Wavy glass windows, old-paneled doors, and unique hardware all add to a beautiful sense of nostalgia.
The floors themselves were hand-milled from old-growth salvage logs left in the woods from back in the 30s, and varnished with a natural citrus oil. The foundation and ten-foot stone wall supporting a flagstone patio outside were made from stones available onsite, and those mined at an abandoned nearby quarry.
With cross-country skiing out the front door or minutes away, and secluded lakes, streams, and peaks waiting to be discovered on-foot, there are endless things to explore and do in the area.
