Captiva is a tropical barrier island located off the Gulf Coast near Fort Myers, Florida that is connected to the western tip of its larger neighbor, Sanibel Island. Getting to Sanibel and Captiva Islands is easy. Our Captiva beachfront vacation condo is a pleasant 55 minute drive from Southwest Florida International Airport (airport code RSW). From the airport take Daniels Parkway. If traveling by car on Interstate 75, take exit 231 to the right, which is Daniels Parkway. Follow the Sanibel and Captiva beach signs to Summerlin Road. Turn left onto Summerlin. Follow Summerlin to the Causeway, then on to Sanibel and Captiva Island.
Enjoy the scenic ride along Captiva Drive from the beach at Blind Pass, past private beachfront estate homes, and past the 4-way stop in Captiva Village, until you reach the gated entrance of South Seas Island Resort, formerly known as South Seas Plantation. Unlike Naples, Marco Island, Siesta Key, or most of the Barrier Islands on the Florida Gulf Coast, you won't find any high rises here. The Resort is a 330 acre beach lover's paradise that occupies the northern third of Captiva Island. Here you'll find 2.5 miles of unspoiled beach and spectacular day-ending sunsets right outside your condo door. While the beach on Captiva is open to the public, public beach access and parking is limited to Turner Beach at the South end of Captiva Island, near Sanibel, and the beach at the end of Captiva Drive. Therefore, the beach within South Seas Island Resort is not crowded.
Our condo is more than just a vacation rental. It is our personal beachfront vacation home that has been completely redecorated and refurnished. You'll find most of the accommodations of home, including a new, fully appointed and equipped kitchen for guests who wish to dine in, or who just want to enjoy the panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico from the dining area, living room, or screened lanai, while sipping their favorite beverage.
Captiva Island is a special vacation and holiday destination for discerning guests who value the Island's low-density, natural beauty, casual lifestyle, and quiet anonymity.
Many of the Island's best restaurants and quaint shops, are located in the 'Village', a picturesque 3-block segment of Andy Rosse Lane, which is a short, romantic walk along the beach or a few blocks by road from South Seas' gated entrance. Unless you make the 15 minute drive to Sanibel or decide to take a day trip off Island, you may not get back in the car until departure. Just remember where you put the keys!

Notice To Guests About the Resort: There are 2 ways to rent accommodations at South Seas Island Resort (SSIR): either from the Resort or from a private owner like us.
Renting directly from an owner does not include access to Resort amenities, which are primarily the new pool complex (at the far North end of the Resort 1.5 miles away from our condo), several Resort-owned restaurants (most of which are down by the new pool), and the tram, which is used primarily to shuttle guests from the Beach Villas on the South end of the Resort, to the North end of SSIR. Our condo association (Gulf Beach Villas) has its own heated pools, one of which is located on the Gulf-side on the way to the beach.
Most of the accommodations, including all of the beachfront condos known as the Beach Villas – where we are - are privately owned and decorated. The Resort does not own any of them. The “Resort’s” units are privately owned units whose owners have entered into lease agreements with the Resort. SSIR then rents these units to the vacationing public at signifiantly higher rates. If you rent through the Resort, be aware that since all units are individually decorated. your unit may differ from the photos shown on the Resort’s website. Ask to see photos of the specific unit you are renting.
We attract guests who are looking for a direct beachfront location, with close (easy walking) proximity to the shops and restaurants in the area known as “Captiva Village” located just outside the Resort.
If access to the North end pool, an ability to eat at the Resort’s restaurants, and daily maid service are important to you, you’ll need to rent from the Resort. If you’re more interested in enjoying the beach and the charm of Captiva Village, we’d love to have you as guests. If I can answer any other questions, please let me know.
* 20% of rental amount is due at time of reservation. The remaining balance is due at least 45 calendar days prior to scheduled arrival and may be made by personal check, or money order.
* Cancellations are allowed up to 45 calendar days prior to scheduled arrival with full advance payment refund.
*No refunds are given for cancellation within 45 calendar days of scheduled arrival unless condo is re-booked for that period. Ask us about available travel insurance to cover cancellations due to health or weather relates issues.
