Great Value and Location!

Date of Stay: 01/28/12 Review Submitted: 02/13/12

Great location, spacious condo with almost everything you could want. Top floor! Awesome pool and ocean views. Was a little outdated. Hard beds. AC only in bedrooms but huge outdoor living space with screen doors and great breeze. Fans in every room. Nice gated community with security guard and gate to beach. Prob. would not walk in nearby neighborhood but saw others walking to nearby grocery, restaurants. Close to Christiansted and grocery store, subway, mcdonalds. Very clean pool with grill, chairs, tables, umbrellas. Did not spend a lot of time there though, was out exploring island! Rent a car! Average age was prob. 60's. We are in our 30s. No beach chairs in our unit to take to the beaches. That would have been very nice. Full kitchen, cable, WIFI, big living area. Check out Savant, Salud, Rowdy Joes, Kendricks, Sunday brunch at Waves at Cane Bay. Rainbow Beach on Sunday.

Truly enjoyed our stay here. It was like having our house on vacation with us. Condo is plenty spacious, very clean and well appointed. Everything worked as it should. No disapointments! We did not use the A/C cause the breeze kept it comfortable. The resort was safe and we never had any issues.Very good snorkeling right off beach at condo.Saw stingrays each time we went out. The resort is in a nice location close to Christiansted, grocery stores and fast food(if thats what you want) yet off the main roads enough to be quiet and peaceful. Smugglers cove bar/restaurant next door was great. I highly recommend renting a car. Driving here is not a problem and there is plenty to see off the resort. Take a snorkel trip to Buck Island( do not recommend BigBeard's), watch the sunset from a Fredericksted area beach, eat at Lost Dog Pub(cheesy garlic bread), and Angry Nates(anything), the beach and snorkeling @ Cane Bay, and just walk around Christiansted(neat place) and drive the coastline. Beautiful island, can't wait to go back and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Just what we were looking for!

Guest: Mike (Flourtown, PA)
Date of Stay: 02/18/11 Review Submitted: 04/11/11

My wife and I stayed in this unit for a week during February of this year. After a very long, cold winter we just wanted somewhere warm, friendly, and up-scale. We got all of that and more. The unit itself is very well cared for, and it is furnished in a way that adds to the feeling of being on the beach in the Caribbean. The unit is on the second floor which gives a clear view across the landscaped inner courtyard and pool to the nearly private beach. The pool area is a gathering place for owners and guests and yet it is never boisterous. the area is large enough that you have the option of solitude or company. There is an artificial reef 50 yards offshore full of tropical fish: it is a great place to snorkel. The town of Christiansted is a 10 minute drive from the unit, and the old town and harbor areas are great places to sight see and for carribean dinning. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back.

cruzan paradise

Date of Stay: 01/29/11 Review Submitted: 02/08/11

Now I have been to this island a number of times thus knowing my way around pretty well ie.where the ideal location would be to stay in order to get the most from what st croix has to offer. Compared to everywhere else I have stayed on previous visits this locatiion was PERFECT! Smack dab in the middle of everything but at the same time gives you the privacy anyone would require on an escape to paradise. Even more Mark made it very easy to get this trip in motion and the condo has everything you may need minus the food you purchase at Plaza Extra. It was more than I expected and I'm grateful that Mark rents this place out so I can come back and use it again!

Colony Cove...NICE!

I would definitely stay here again. The unit was not only clean, but very efficiently laid out. The location of the condo was also well located and it was easy to get around. I would definitely have car if staying here. The pool was great, and we were able to use the grill there...great for grilling fresh fish. I will say the beach was marginal,, but were like beach hopping anyway so that wasn't important to us.Staff at condo was courteous and helpful.. Thoroughly relax and enjoyable stay.

A great place to stay

Date of Stay: 11/24/10 Review Submitted: 12/17/10

Highly recommend the Colony Cove apartments. The apartment was large & spacious, very clean and completely stocked with every kitchen utensil you could imagine. The balcony had a great view of the pool and beach. The location was good in that it was set next to a nice beach and had easy access to a bar next door. I would highly recommend a car for stays at Colony Cove. Christiansted, the closest town, was about a 5-10 minute drive. Grocery store was about 2 minutes drive. Getting around the rest of St. Croix really required a car. While buses are available on the island they didn't seem very frequent and were certainly not as good (or as fun) as the buses in Barbados. St. Croix offered some good SCUBA diving. We dived with St. Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventures and they were excellent. Saw turtles, barracuda, sting rays and tons of tropical fish.

Owner response:Thank you for such a great rating. We are happy you enjoyed our unit at Colony Cove and that you were able to experience a lot of what we absolutely love about St. Croix. Thank you so much - Mark & Debb

My Wife and I had the opportunity to stay at Mark and Debbies' condo at Colony Cove in August for a week. The condo was clean and well stocked with towels and cooking utinsils. The grocery store is only about 2 miles away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A car is really needed for getting around, Judi's of Croix was very helpful. We did alot of sightseeing and beach hopping. The Cruzan rum factory is a must. Food on the island was outstanding. We really liked Christiansted and the boardwalk especially the Brew Pub. While there we renewed our Wedding vows after 20 years in front of the condo at sunrise with the help of Gail, one of the permanant residents, and Capt. John of Big Beards tours and diving. Hurricane Irene came through on the last day and we watched the wind, rain and surf at Smugglers cove next door. The trip was really GREAT !!!! Thanks to Mark, Debbie and Capt. Big Beard. We will for sure be going back. AWESOME TIME !!! AWESOME VACATION !!!

Great Value - Great Stay

Guest: Garyin WI (Dairyland USA)
Date of Stay: 04/10/10 Review Submitted: 06/01/10

My wife and I, along with another couple, stayed here the week of April 10, 2010 and had a great time. The condo was accurately represented and was an great value, especially for 2 couples -- I would not hestitate to recommend it to others. The owners were fair and easy to deal with. This was our first time in St.Croix and we really enjoyed the rustic, laid-back atmosphere (only 2 cruise ships per week). We suggest renting a car to take in the whole island. Also, make time for a snokeling trip to Buck Island (pick a calm day if you can).

We had a great stay. We traveled around the entire island, and found that location of Colony Cove is one of the best. Close to the grocery store, town and fast food (for the kids). Snorkling right outside the door was good. Saw baracuda, rays of course fish. The unit was very nice, albiet lack of temperature control on one of the AC units. Everyone was very friendly. We'll definately be back.

We spent a family holiday at Colony Cove and loved it. The condo is lovely: spacious, light, airy, clean, and comfortable. We had everything we needed to cook our own meals, and the location is great for dining out too. We enjoyed snorkling all over the island, but it's nice to be able to snorkle right along the condo beach first thing in the morning. We have very fond memories of our stay!

We found the accomodations at this two-bedroom two-bath to be outstanding. The condo was beautifully decorated and well stocked with cooking utensils for cooking our meals. We especially enjoyed the beautiful mahogany king bed and dresser in the master bedroom. The condo is in an excellent location -close to the main town of Christiansted, but also located in a gated community. We enjoyed the condo's close proximity to the beach and its location near local restaurants and bars. We would highly recommend this unit and its owners for their honest and open communication with us during the entire rental process.

Good value in St Croix

Guest: Visitor from TX (Dallas, TX)
Date of Stay: 01/13/10 Review Submitted: 01/26/10

We stayed in a similar condo at Colony Cove, but 2nd floor. The living areas are not air conditioned but the breeze was sufficient. Both bedrooms have window AC units. We found the condo staff very friendly and helpful, and the neighbors that we met at the pool area were all very nice. The complimentary snorkling equipment was great and definitely put to use! There is also a large gas grill for use down by the pool area - we grilled three times while there. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, pots, glasses, etc and the laundry was handy to have in unit. The condo is a short drive to Christiansted and has a grocery store very close by ass well. One problem - the wireless internet was hard to access at times and the cable went out when we had a hard rain. Overall, a great place to stay in St Croix!

An absolutely beautiful 3rd floor unit! Nicely updated and clean with all the comforts of home! We have stayed at Colony Cove before and love its location...close to shopping, beaches and Christiansted. This was our 3rd visit to St. Croix and this time wanted to bring my parents. We stayed the end of July in 09. There was plenty of room for 4 of us! Coffee in the morning was a delight while enjoying gentle breezes and gorgeous views of the sea, mountains and of course Buck Island. The staff at the condo are helpful and friendly. There are two restaurants on either side of the condo to enjoy a bit to eat or for having a cocktail. I would say to really enjoy all that St. Croix has to offer, you must rent a car! Without a car you may miss...The Rum Factory, Sailing to Buck Island with Big Beard, seeing the beer drinking pigs at Dominos in the rain forest, enjoying other beaches with great snorkeling, the casino, crab races and more!!! The condo rental process was smooth and easy, thanks to the owners... Mark and Debb! We are already getting set to book our second stay with them and can't wait. We love St. Croix, Colony Cove and now, Mark and Debb for allowing us to rent there adorable home! Thank you, thank you!!

Colony Cove Resort

My husband and I stayed in this unit with another couple Nov 28-Dec 5, 2009. The owners even had the twin beds in the second bedroom converted to a king before our stay at our request. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The condo had plenty of room and was well equipped. Plenty of towels, appliances, dishes, SHARP knives, and a very nice supply of the basics like dishwasher detergent, paper towels, toilet tissue, tissues, laundry detergent, coffee filters, etc. The little "extras" like both a large and small cooler for picnic lunches, plastic glasses that could be taken to the pool area, made this really feel like home. Many of the units are being refurbished on the outside and I believe the resort's overall appearance will be very nice when completed. While this is not a 5 star resort, we did not pay for that! It was nice and the security was good. The owners were extremely nice to deal with and we had several contacts both by phone and email with them prior to our stay. They called us the morning after our arrival to see if everything was satisfactory. They will give you many tips regarding what to see and where to eat! We had been to St Croix 10 years ago and found it much the same. It is a quiet island without alot of nightlife. The beaches are not crowded. The people are friendly and we enjoyed driving around the island. Rent a car to see everyting and enjoy all the beaches and the little restuaurants with island music such as Rythms, at Rainbow Beach. The Pirate Buffet and Mocko Jumbee dancers are a must do at Carambola Beach Resort on Friday nights. Take a sail on the tall ship Roseway if you are there in the winter and of course go snorkeling at Buck Island. I would recommend staying in this unit! The price and location are great and the owners were delightful! They will do everything possible to ensure you are satisfied!

Date of Stay: 12/06/08 Review Submitted: 12/16/08

I found this property in April 2008 and vacationed there 6-13 December 2008. This vacation was for my mom, my 4 year old daughter, and myself. The owners were excellent, always responding either by email or phone to any questions I had. They also provided some tips about local shopping, beaches, and eating out. The property was well maintained, grounds were clean. There was air conditioning in the bedrooms but we only used it 2 of the 7 nights. The winds come through the windows nicely so we prefered that to air. Spacious balcony with great view. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the condo and were out and about for lunch. We pretty much loved the place! My daughter asked if her family could come down so she could stay. I like visiting new places as opposed to going back to the same spots but I wouldn't rule out going back to St Croix and renting this condo again!

Review of our Colony Cove stay on family vacation

Guest: puppygirl1 (Marietta,Ohio USA)
Date of Stay: 08/06/08 Review Submitted: 08/16/08

My husband ,myself and our 23 year old son just spent a week at Colony Cove and were very pleased with the condo. The owners impressed us with wonderful customer service, the unit was very clean and the property was very well maintained and we felt very safe.We would recommend this property to anyone wanting peace and quiet. St.Croix was beautiful but not a place for a person looking for many activities. Our only complaint was air conditioning is only in the bedrooms. The living room and kitchen were hard to get comfortable. (We were there in Aug. and Very Hot and Humid time of year). But at least we could sleep in comfort. Overall Very Happy with stay.
