  The perfect vacation house for my family! We can't wait to come back! The home was decorated in a comfortable yet stylish "pottery barn" way. All bedrooms and bathrooms were immaculate. The views were a constant source of amazement. We saw so many eagles, that by the end of our stay the children were nonplussed by our eagle sightings! The pink sunrises greeted us from the master bedroom & the moon & waves put us to sleep. Endless beach combing by day & smores at the fire pit were a big hit with every family member. An utterly relaxing destination!

  This is a must-visit stay for families, however, hubby and I will come back alone, too. It was an easy space for our active toddler with all the gear to make our stay relaxing including safety gates and a high chair. The deck off the living room was safe for our baby, too. Bring dry kindling for a cozy fire in the outdoor pit. Wood provided.

  After 5 years without a vacation, my husband and I needed a getaway! We were seeking a comfy, cozy house and a bit of isolation, and the Oyster House did not disappoint! The house was so clean, beautifully decorated, and in an amazing location. The pictures do not do it justice! It rained almost our whole vacation, which was just fine with us. A week of reading, watching movies, napping, playing games, beach combing when the tide was low, and watching the birds and otters play in the water was just what we wanted! There for a week, and we barely left the house. The bed in the master was incredibly comfortable. This house was everything we wanted! One word of caution: the only store on the island had very minimal selection, and was WAY overpriced. So be sure to do your grocery shopping before you get to the island! We are already planning a return trip for next year!

  We just returned from a weekend at the Oyster House and I cannot say enough good things about the house - sitting out on the deck you feel like you are on the balcony of your room on a cruise ship you are right on the water! The house has been very tastefully remodelled - it is exactly what I would have done if I were remodelling, actually they have done a much bettert job than I could. We had a family of otters entertaining us right out front of the house for most of the morning. The house does not have a radio or Ipod docking station so maybe bring one of your own, otherwise everything else you need is there. There are a lot of stairs so if mobility is an issue for you - this may not be the house for you - but it is the house for everyone else - you will love it. One other note we have rented quite a few houses all over the US and Mexico with VRBO and this owner is without a doubt the easiest to deal with

  Peaceful and relaxing! The home was very comfortable, a perfect place to relax and unwind from our busy everyday lives. The home was very clean and was perfectly furnished. The best place to relax was on the chaise lounge in the living room, it was wonderfully relaxing to curl up on and read. The island was a peaceful place with wonderful scenery. We took the ferry across a few times to visit the casino and had a great time there. We also enjoyed seeing the wildlife, woke up to otters one morning and also drove around and found deer, one of them even allowed us to hand feed him some peanuts! Did a lot of cooking which was enjoyable and ate some wonderful meals at The Beach Store Café as well! Hoping to return one day again!

• SPECTACULAR!

  Love the beach house! The day we arrived we had the good fortune to enjoy a wicked westcoast winter storm. We cracked open the bedroom window and fell asleep to the sounds of the rain and waves crashing beneth us. All the while we were tucked under the fluffest down duvet. Imagine! Dawn, of the second day broke with sunshine and a vision of Bellingham Harbour with Mount Baker in the fore-ground. Breathtaking! The property was perfection. Sparkling clean when we arrived. I was able to enjoy my favorite activity of reading in front of a fire in big comfy leather chairs. Thanks to the cabin inventory we played a 3hr game of Trival Pursuit and I'm not saying I was the winner, (none was declared) but I do belive my husband has a new respect for how much I know about nothing. We enjoyed the cafe at the ferry, great breakfast and coffee helped fuel my daily Starbucks addiction. Just a footnote in case you haven't been to Lummi before, you wouldn't want to forget anything at home. The only store is quite small and not much inventory. I think perhaps it is well stocked during the busier months but by the end of October the shelves were mighty lean. While we enjoyed the experience of dinning at the Willows, we wished Bill Gates had swung by to pick up the tab. Looking forward to our nex visit.

  Our trip was during a time when the car ferry was dry docked, the owner where wonderful and letting us know this before payment sending us payment arrangement. This didn't matter to us because we where planning on using our bikes during the trip, it just enforced that we had to use our bikes. The house is beautiful, clean and well maintained. During our stay we biked around the island stopping take in the beautiful views. One day we had lunch at the Taproot Cafe, the food is wonderful with some good beers to choose from. Each night we sat outside watching the sunset and each morning I couldn't help but to get up early just to watch the sunrise.

  Took advantage of gorgeous weather during the August long weekend and ventured down to Oyster House. Could not have asked for a more peaceful and serene escape. Nestled among majestic towering cedar and hemlock trees and tucked snuggly up against a beautiful beach, this get-away has no rival. The home easily accommodates 6 adults, or any combination of adults and children. Stunning sunrises framed by the majestic mountains to the east great you every morning. Travel to the west side of the island and marvel in the spectacle that are the sunsets framed by the Gulf/San Juan Islands. We spent endless hours beachcombing, biking, walking and generally exploring this beautiful landscape. Just a short hop and ferry ride from Vancouver, Oyster House provides a warm welcome to everyone. We’ll be back again – same time nest year (or sooner!) Next time we’ll bring the kayaks!

  My family recently stayed here and it was better than we had expected. The views of Mt. Baker are simply stunning! My only regret is that we did not take our bicycles, but we definitely will our next visit. The house itself is extremely nice and clean. The stairs going from the parking area down to the house are somewhat steep but my parents, who are in their mid 60s, managed. It's an easy one mile walk from the ferry. I highly recommend this to anyone taking a trip to Lummi Island!

  We have been using VRBO for all our vacation accommodations for many years . The Oyster House is simply the best ever. My wife and I just spent a week with our 20 and 21 year old daughters on our first family vacation together in three years. The Oyster House exceeded all our expectations. Big enough for everyone to have some space as well as being cozy . It is quite literally right on the ocean with the most spectacular view of Mt. Baker. The cedar sauna is so perfect after a swim in the refreshing waters of Puget Sound. Yes it's cold but not unbearable, we swam every day but one. The house is beautifully appointed with everything you need as well as spotlessly clean .Chris and Nancy have gone far beyond the norm in making the Oyster House feel like your own home away from home. From the so comfortable sectional couch where we watched movies together to the wonderful beds in each bedroom. The bathrooms are so spacious with the best showers ever. Our two daughters were delighted with the beautiful twin pedestal sinks and a rain head shower that you could walk around in. The eighty two stairs to get down to the house are such a small price to pay for such a intimate and private setting. Another eighteen stairs gets you down to the waters edge with a patio area complete with fire-pit and Adirondack chairs to gather in the evenings around a real wood fire. If you love peace and quiet,privacy and a beautiful quaint island with great walks ,friendly locals no touristy stuff then Lummi Island is the place you've been dreaming of but haven't found yet. Thank you Chris and Nancy for sharing your treasure with us. We can't wait to return.
