Traveler Reviews (1)
warm and clean, great for dogs, but poorly laid out

On the up side, the fenced yard at Goat Wall View was GREAT for the dogs, and the access to the Base Camp ski trail was very easy. I'm sure the yard is lovely in the summer, as it was quite nice in the winter. Our party of 8 adults, one toddler, one baby, and two dogs all had plenty of room to sleep and the cabin was tidy and clean. The downside was the layout of the cabin. The common spaces were not generous enough for us to comfortably gather in the kitchen/living room without feeling like we were all tripping over one another. The kitchen was functional, but did not have enough storage space for all of our groceries (so we were tripping over those too) and the counter space was limited for cooking our Thanksgiving meal. (Some simple rearranging could take care of this: move the "living room" furniture upstairs, get a huge banquet hall table for the downstairs to make the room is more open and less cramped at the table, move the counter to the center of the kitchen area to create an island, and dedicate some empty cupboards to guest storage. Also get a garbage can with a lid or that fits under the counter so that dogs can't get into it.) While the sleeping areas were generous and relatively comfortable, the lack of doors on the upstairs and downstairs areas meant that wandering dogs could easily disturb sleeping babies (maybe provide a baby gate?). Finally, the steep stairs at the entry were difficult to navigate with babies and luggage and to keep ice-free because the overhang on the roof constantly dripped on them (a little fix on the roof above could help that). On the whole, this would be a great place for families with older kids, who don't cook in large groups, and who tend to hang out in separate spaces.
