Akumal is ideally located in the center of "Riviera Maya" and is only 1 hour south of Cancun. It offers the most beautiful diving and snorkeling waters in Mexico: Half Moon Bay (where the Condo is located) and Akumal Bay and Yal Ku Lagoon (both within easy walking distance from the Condo). Akumal offers a variety of restaurants with both beachfront and tropical garden settings, some offering live international music, a fresh bakery, small grocery stores including US products, a fresh produce market once or twice a week, dive shops, a travel office (TSA) which can arrange land and sea tours, Internet Cafe, yoga classes, massage & reflexology, a fitness center, bike rentals, laundromat and a few quaint boutiques. Akumal is also an ecological center which
especially protects its sea turtles and their nesting grounds. You can see the turtles nest in front of YOOL CAANAL Condo #3 from about April to November of each year. There is no "hard sell" at Akumal; this is a lovely, international residential community which offers the slow pace of an undiscovered Mexican village and the amenities of a "home away from home" for those who wish to get away from the beaten tracks of tourism.

Within a half hour radius of Akumal, you can visit other popular and picturesque sites in Quintana Roo, which include Playa del Carmen, Xcaret, XelHa and Tulum or other "secret" places you may want to discover on your own. You will find our central location makes it very easy to shop, dine, swim with dolphins, play golf, explore caves, swim in crystal clear cenotes, visit ruins or wildlife preserves, wherever you choose, whenever you choose. Of course, you can always decide to spend a delicious day on our private palm tree beach under a palapa sipping margaritas or lemonade, or explore our beautiful waters of Half Moon Bay which contains a variety of coral and schools of tropical fish. THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS!!!

As YOOL CAANAL CONDO #3 is centrally located on Half Moon Bay, our full length balcony offers a panoramic view of the multi shades of turquoise waters in the bay and beyond the coral reef. We have our own lovely, private, white sand beach with palm trees, palapas and chaise lounges, but you can see the entire beach & bay from our upper level condo. We are unique because we are not amid high rises or other condos, but rather, surrounded by native foiliage and only a small "casa" which gives us such an unlimited view. YC#3 consists of a full condo-length beachfront balcony where you can see multi colored sunrises or sunsets, enjoy your morning coffee or tea, dine by candlelight, or just enjoy the balmy breeze while searching for falling stars Our spacious living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen all overlook the bay as we have a full wall of windows between the balcony & living areas. Our master bedroom includes a king size bed, newly tiled floor, a mural wall painting, plenty of storage space and a view of the bay and tropical garden. Our master bath has recently been updated with a Mexican flare and includes an oversized sunken tub overlooking the tropical garden. Our guest bedroom has 2 twin beds which can be converted to a king size bed, a private balcony overlooking the garden, newly tiled floors, limited view of the bay & again, plenty of storage space. The guest bath also has been updated and has a shower with a view of the bay. Both bedrooms have air conditioning; however, all rooms (except baths) have overhead fans for cool, ventilated living so air conditioning is rarely needed as air flows through the condo from 4 sides. We have US/Mexican management in Akumal, daily maid service, beach and garden maintenance and supply bottled water free of charge. If you need anything extra while staying in YC#3, please do not hesitate to ask. We hope you choose YOOL CAANAL #3 as your private tropical paradise and "home away from home"!!!

My time in Akumal was absolutely magical. I cannot tell you how healing it was for me and Yool Caanal condo 3 well exceeded my expectations. I liked it much better than the last condo I rented, as it was so much quieter. My friend and I spent the entire time just resting on the beach and doing absolutely nothing. It was just what we both needed, so the room was perfect for that kind of trip. Thanks again for all your help. I hope to stay in touch. I’m already wanting to go back!

The setting for the condo building couldn't have been more idyllic; with only vacant lots on either side and with only 5 units in the whole building, Yool Caanal immediately projects an inviting intimacy. You are so far from the huge complexes and crowds that are farther north! At Yool Caanal, there is a relaxing sense of privacy, but not isolation. My husband and I developed a laid-back "connectedness" with the Bay and the few people who occupy its shores. The unit itself (#3) was a delight! The owner had scores of fascinating, unique crafts and appealing knic-knacs all around the condo that we had fun examining. Their presence gave the whole place a warmth, a really homey feel. We were immediately comfortable being there. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils, although the meals at restaurants were so reasonable and good, we rarely cooked dinner "at home". We loved the master bedroom with the louvres that allowed you to see the magnificent bay beyond. And with their brightly colored designs, the sinks in both bathrooms were totally charming. (On seeing pictures after we came home, our three-year-old grandson remarked, "Ooo, that sink is so beautiful!!") The master bedroom's walk-in shower was certainly handy, but anyone coming here should not expect much water pressure. This is a community of people that mean it when they say, "Water is precious, so please conserve it". That attitude was fine with us; we were heartened by the singular environmental sensitivity the whole community showed. The huge balcony was a treat: we were greeted with cooling breezes and an extraordinary view as we had our morning coffee. The night sky was amazing; I saw two shooting stars in an enormous field of bright jewels. From the guest porch, we were dazzled one night by an incredibly beautiful sunset that lasted for a very long time, slowly changing from subtle hues to brilliant color, then back again to pastels and greys that finally signaled the end of the day. I found the reef filled with huge brain coral, schools of blue tang and large parrotfish. Some of the coral was quite different from any I'd seen before (and we've snorkeled all over), so that was a treat. Speaking of treats, Yal Ku Lagoon is extraordinary and not to be missed. Besides the snorkeling, which is marvelous, the grounds have cooling, winding pathways through vegetation; the pathways lead to numerous striking statues. All in all, a 10!

We loved easy, good snorkeling right out the door, walking to the point for sunsets, friendly guests in the other condos, and the overall ease of Akumal for a kid-friendly vacation.

condo is spacious, well decorated and had all of the conveniences you could want. The sandy beach was just a few steps away. The view from the master bedroom of the ocean in all its glory was amazing! The only problem with the unit during our stay was the fact that the in-room safe was not operational. Thankfully, we were able to secure our valuables in hiding spots :-) and nothing was lost. It was an amazing vacation for our family which included two teenagers who also thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Akumal was a wonderful experience. I want to make sure to give credit to Marcia at who provided valuable insight into Akumal with travel tips and advice that were most helpful.

We were very comfortable at our stay at YC#3. The pictures cannot even do justice to the actual breathtaking views of Half Moon Bay from the condo. We could hear the ocean at night. The air conditioner in the bedroom was nice to have. We also enjoyed the DVD's, music, and books that were provided in the condo. We cannot wait to return to Yool Caanal #3.

Being in Akumal for it's 50 Años Celebration was a wonderful experience. For as much as it has changed, Akumal still has the small town charm that keeps calling us back. See ya next year!
