Owner Description

My husband is a remodeling contractor and I am a speech/lanaguage pathologist. I work in a middle and high school in Maryland.
Why the Owner Chose Colonial Beach
I have been visiting Colonial Beach since 1986 and I introduced Rudy to the town in 1996. One of my best friend's grandparents built a cottage here and we have been exploring ever since.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
We love the feeling of getting away from it all, when we are at the cottage! Everyday the sky and the sunset look different. It's so relaxing to just lie on the beach, for even an hour. We walk, ride our bikes and drive around the area. Oh, I forgot, CB allows golf carts and that's my favorite form of transportation, especially on a hot day. We love the new gourmet shops that have opened up recently for fresh bread, sandwiches, ice cream, steaks, seafood and fine chocolates! We even have a women's clothing store. Come check it out!

Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.. My family and I had a GREAT time at your home! We felt so at home, and welcome from the very first step into your place!! There was every thing we could possibly need, and then some! You guys thought of everything!! I am recommending this vacation spot to everyone!! We experienced our first Earthquake at The Lee's plantation and then Hurricane Irene make us cut our vacation short by 1 day. But the 7 nights there were awesome! thank you all so much.
Owner response:Dear Shelley and Thomas, Your family are such troopers, going through a lot during your week's stay. We are so glad that you enjoyed your trip after coming from so far away. We take pride in keeping our cottage updated and well stocked for our guests. Please come back again. Lisa and Rudy

The time my girls and I had at the cottage was wonderful and peaceful. The neighbors as well were very sweet. The beachtime every day was so relaxing. We walked to the beach. Watched the boats and we were able to enjoy ourselves. We did not want to leave when it was was time to head back home. I can't wait to go back again. See you soon.
Owner response:Thank you for your lovely review. We know how hard it is to leave after being in the peaceful environment of Colonial Beach. We do have lovely neighbors and they are always so kind to our guests. Please come back again! Lisa and Rudy

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. We found it well provided, very comfortable. For our teens it was great to have their own space/bedroom. We also enjoyed the garden and the bbq a lot. Lots of things to do in Colonial Beach as well: we rented some kayaks, went to Washington, DC, visited Stratford Hall (almost like being in England but for the slave quarters) and of the beach is very close by.
Owner response:Dear Lijsbeth, Thank you for being our guests and discovering our cottage and all that there is to do around Colonial Beach all the way from the Netherlands. Best regards, Lisa and Rudy

Anything you could think you need i here. We stayed at the cottage 07/16/11 thru 07/23/11 with our 3 sons (2 teens and 1 in college). There is more than enough room for 5 grown people, more than enough kitchen supplies, and more than enough to do. We went to the beach almost every day, and 1 day we made the 2 hour drive to Washington D.C. When you stay here, you have to go to the Lighthouse restaurant, they will sell you FRESH seafod, direct, to take back to the cottage and cook. There is a grill, a deck, and a nice size backyard to play around with the kids. It was a great, relaxing, fun vacation. And, I would definately go back again. Thank you Lisa!!!
Owner response:Thank you so much for being our guests, enjoying the cottage and our big backyard. We are glad that you had great adventures while staying in Colonial Beach. We love the beach also. Best, Lisa and Rudy

The Rudacil's Four Seasons Cottage provided everything I needed for an extended business stay in the Dahlgren-Colonial Beach Area. The commute was the same as back home, about 15 minutes, except without the traffic. All of the necessities were taken care of- the lawn maintenance, and weekly housekeeping, allowing me to concentrate on my work. The Colonial Beach area is small enough for a quick trip for groceries, gas, or a Red Box movie. The internet service and basic cable were enough entertainment. If you are the type who does not need much and enjoys the quiet, laid-back nature of life on the water, then this is the place. I would certainly recommand Four Season's and the Rudacils to anyone needing an extended stay with the comforts of home.
Owner response:Dear Tony, We are so glad that we were able to provide a comfortable space for your 40 night stay at our cottage, so that you could just concentrate on being at Dahlgren. We love Colonial Beach also, which allows people to get away from it all. Thank you for selecting us, Rudy and Lisa

Four Seasons cottage & Colonial Beach were a lovely find. It was our first trip to the beach & my girls had talked about "the trip" since Christmas & we were not disappointed at all. We had fun going to the beach, renting a golf cart, going to the playground, shell searching, & getting ice cream. The cottage was our home away from home & charming. It was a great to reconnect & have family time.
Owner response:We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our Four Seasons Cottage and Colonial Beach. There are so many different things to do there or just relax and enjoy the beach as your family did. Thanks again for reserving your vacation early. That really allows you to be able to choose the exact week that works for your family. Lisa and Rudy

My husband and I and our dog stayed at Four Season for all most 2 weeks in April 2010. We found the cottage to be very comfortable and clean, and the back yard was a dream for our Jack Russell. The quaint, quiet beach community is charming, with water views at every turn. We felt very much at home and we would return to the Four Seasons Cottage in the future. Our hosts, Lisa and Rudy are very nice people and very accomodating to our needs.
Owner response:Thank you Penny and John. We love having guests like the three of you stay at our cottage. Lisa and Rudy

If you are ever looking for a vacation without giving up the convenience of being at home, you should consider the Four-Season cottage. Here you will find the owners have paid attention to every detail to make your stay comfortable. I don't wish to write a long essay, but you will find a well stocked kitchen that even has magnets on the refrigerator door, a grill in the large backyard with a nice deck, a lovely screened room to eat in, the fastest wireless internet connection you can imagine, and a very lovely serene area to just kick back and relax. You may even feel a little like a guest instead of a customer.

Lisa,The cottage was wonderful, and we had a great weekend. It was warm and calm Saturday, so we could paddle around Monroe Bay. You’ve done a great job maintaining/restoring a cute little house. We may want to come back one day. Thanks again,Clyde
