New custom built 3000 square foot home completed 2006 literally just steps from the sand. In San Clemente pier-bowl/Del Mar area.
Walking distance to everything! 4 minute walk to the sand (390 steps). 5 minute walk and you're on the pier (630 steps). Many surf breaks right here - you can catch your first wave in less than 10 minutes from walking out the door! Just around the corner from all the shopping, bars and great restaurants on Avenida Del Mar (4 minute walk).
Central location for exploring southern California by car. Right in the middle of Los Angeles and San Diego (approx. 45 minutes either way). Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park are all within a short drive. Walking distance to Metrolink train station.
Ideal family vacation home! Two INDOOR swings with full range of movement located in large playroom. Dedicated kid's art room. Dozens of board games, dress-up clothes, toys etc. Upright piano. Computer with high-speed Internet. 46-inch Sony Bravia 1080 HD wide-screen.
Outside we have a 60-foot zip-line and two-story playhouse. Elevated patio/lounge area with pergola. Exterior dual-head shower with hot water for rinsing off after the beach. Two soft learner surfboards for the kids. Plenty of boogie boards and sand toys for all.
Peak ocean view from 2nd story. State-of-the-art large professional kitchen. Old-growth cherry hardwood floors throughout entire house. Master bath has large tub and double shower.
Beds: Sleeps 7 to 12 comfortably in beds – 1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Twins, and 1 Toddler Bed. We also have a comfortable down-filled couch in the office/4th bedroom that is twin size. Two additional Queen-sized raised AeroBed air mattresses will be supplied (they are surprisingly very comfortable!). All of the bedrooms are large and can easily accommodate one of the Queen AeroBeds.
Backyard: The backyard is 900 square feet and consists of irregular stone with grass in-between the stones, large natural gas grill, oversized hammock, a 2-story playhouse in one corner, the pictured deck with arbor on the other side, and outdoor shower and zip-line just around the corner (zip-line goes down one side of the house and ends at the arbor). The lighting is great at night with dimmable controls. There’s also a copper firepit that can be moved to wherever you need it to go and a nice new picnic-style table with benches if you need extra seating to eat or play cards outside. If the nights get a little chilly there are two movable restaurant-style outdoor patio heaters.

Our extended family rented this great beach house last August and everyone had a fantastic and relaxing time. The children, ages 5, 7, & 9, felt that they had landed in paradise and made full use of the toys, books, swings, playhouse, zipline and nearby beach. The kids’ bedroom (2 twin beds) was absolutely magical to the girls. The stairs to the beach can be a little daunting to those who have been more couch/computer potato than physically active in the last few years, but were completely do-able and got easier every time. The children, of course, had no problem zipping up the beach stairs and delighted in rubbing it in the faces of the adults. It was easy to walk to the main street for ice cream treats (Baskin Robbins), restaurants or take out. The supermarket is close and a Trader Joe’s isn’t a far drive, so our kitchen was well-stocked. We also took advantage of a local Farmer’s Market on the weekend and filled the house with fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, baked goods, and other treats. We made use of the BBQ for dinner and the firepit for a s’mores dessert. The owners were very attentive to our stay and when there was a small problem with an appliance, they were right on it until it was fixed. The beds were all comfy and we managed to sleep up to 9 easily: a set of grandparents, 2-3 middle-aged adults, a 12 year old, and 3 kids under the age of 10. We could have easily added more if we had used the Queen Aerobeds (we brought 2 twin-size Aerobeds with us). Even though we live full-time in Southern California and can easily get to our local beaches (Los Angeles/Santa Monica and Long Beach), San Clemente was a delightful change of pace for us and we felt like we were a million miles away from the stresses of home and work. The beach was the perfect destination in the afternoons with waves that were comfortable for the younger children and water warm enough for all to enjoy. When we needed to “chill” we settled in front of a very nice HD TV and watched some TV (last year we were glued to politics and the Olympics). The wireless internet helped us keep connected with the little bit of work that still needed to get done. We’re going back again this summer, since we’re hooked on the R&R and fun that the San Clemente “Zipline House” provides.

The house is beautiful, very convenient to the beach and to downtown, and full of toys for the kids. We had a great stay with our two kids (who are 1.5 and 3.5 years old).
