Welcome to our home situated high on the cliff-top above legendary Tribune Bay, Hornby Island. Our property offers a true get-away with its quiet location and natural setting of salal, firs and arbutus trees.

Our home is contemporary with floor to ceiling windows, allowing for full appreciation of the location. To the rear is the natural forest and to the front, the ocean. Our neighbors are far enough away to be barely noticeable. Eagles fly by at eye-height. Deer commonly graze nearby. In summer, relax and dine on the large deck. In winter, cuddle up next to the wood stove. Enjoy the spectacular views to the southwest across Tribune Bay to the mountains of Vancouver Island.

Our home works well for 1-3 couples or for families with older children. Unfortunately it is not suitable for families with young children due to the presence of the high cliff. We do not allow smoking or pets anywhere on the property.

There is a queen bed in the master bedroom on the main floor, and another queen bed and two twin beds in the spacious loft that overlooks the kitchen, dining and living room.

Hornby Island is renowned for its fabulous beaches and parks. Tribune Bay Provincial Park (a few minutes drive or bike ride from the house) boasts a sweeping crescent sand beach and warm safe swimming waters. Helliwell Provincial Park (a 10-15 minute walk along the cliff-top trail) offers extensive walking trails through a gary oak grove, across flower-strewn bluffs, and sculpted sandstone shoreline. Whaler’s Bay offers another fine sand beach. There are numerous other locations offering public access to the waterfront on Hornby.

The island has an extensive system of trails for mountain-biking, hiking, and horse-back riding. Local businesses rent kayaks, mountain bikes, horses, and scuba diving equipment. Many also run tours. There are several cafes, restaurants, artist studios and wineries to visit.

In summer high-season, rentals are by the week and run from Saturday to Saturday. In the low-season, rentals are by the night with a two night minimum.

We were going to get back to you and Liz to express our enjoyable experience at your Island home! It was perfect and worked out great! The view and location were fabulous. We will definitely consider your home for a future trip to the Island.

I just wanted to let you know how much N and I enjoyed the time we spent at your cottage on Hornby. If I could ever have a cottage, I would design it just as you have. I rarely get one-on-one time with my son, and it was lovely having meals and just reading and spending time together. I ran through Helliwell Park early every morning, and cycled to the coop for groceries. The evenings were gorgeous and I loved sitting on the deck while the reflection of a 3/4 moon shimmered on Tribune Bay. It was magical.

Thanks for sharing with us your absolutely stunning home and property on Hornby Island. Our family enjoyed a magical week away together and we could not have asked for a better setting as a home base for our many Hornby adventures. Everything worked as outlined in your extraordinarily detailed guidelines, which I very much appreciated having. We found your home to be very comfortable and very well equipped for our needs. The boys very much enjoyed climbing up to their own domain and regarded the loft as a bit of a hideaway. We are a family who enjoys our peace and quiet and your home was perfect for that.
