Treasure of a Home

Guest: Melanie, Steve, Benjamin,& Megan (-)
Date of Stay: 07/30/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

Thank you for sharing your treasure of a home. We had a fabulous vacation filled with many of the activities from your Top 10 List. Some of favorites were: Jordon Pond, hiking the North Ridge Trail/Cadillac Mountain, biking the carriage trails, and visiting the different harbors. We had a lot of laughs at ImprovAcadia, & enjoyed great coffee at the Maine Grind in Ellsworth. After our adventures, we looked forward to returning to the Downeast Cottage to relax. Your hospitality from afar made us feel like your personal guests. Thank you so much.

Oh, the Views

Guest: Deanna, Stu, Jane,Anna, & Kate (-)
Date of Stay: 07/09/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

We were warmly welcomed by your cozy cottage with the lovely gifts and the week continued on wonderfully from there. The well-equipped home served us through delicious meals, soft places to sit, sleep, and eat. And oh, the views!! First we adventured to Lamoine Sate Park where we held huge pink starfish and sea urchins Your Acadia Audio Tour by car was a wonderful way to see the whole park and give us ideas of what to go back & do later.. At the cottage, we biked, walked, and kayaked a lot. From the kids: “my dream house..literally…I loved the Moose Lodge..This experience was so much fun and really a way to get away from it all.”

Relaxing

Guest: Becky and Dave (-)
Date of Stay: 08/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

We had the most marvelous stay at your delightful cottage. Relaxing is the word we keep using –but it is more than that- and this comes from a couple who normally have difficulty chilling! Although most days we spent away –hiking, bicycling, kayaking, and touring, we always looked forward to our return here. It truly felt like home! A little power loss during “Irene” was even well-timed! Favorites include Schoodic Peninsula, Long Pond vicinity & both Northeast & Southwest Harbors (we are sailors.) We enjoyed eating both out and in, also. This was our first Maine experience, but certain won’t be our last! Thanks so much!

What a gem!

Date of Stay: 09/06/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

What a gem! Your cottage “Downeast” is just beautiful. So relaxing & tranquil. I have loved every minute. At this moment, sitting at the dining table, marveling at the view, the sun dappling through the pines and the water of Frenchman’s Bay sparkling. We had a spectacular sunset last night. We thoroughly enjoyed your record collection~what a pleasant surprise. And all of your creative touches~such a pleasure to enjoy. Thank you!

My trip to Maine in late June

Guest: Denise (Ohio)
Date of Stay: 06/25/11 Review Submitted: 07/15/11

This is an excellent location with great caretakers and all the right amenities. My sister and I visited Maine in late June 2011 and we stayed at this home while we were there. Leading up to our trip I exchanged several e-mails with the owners and they were always prompt responses in addition to being very generous providing information about the sites and points of interest. The house is well equipped with everything you might need and it is very clean and well taken care of. The location is perfect if you are looking for a true getaway, with beautiful surroundings and a lot of peace and quiet. The owners provided everything we needed, including entertainment (board games, movies, books and other reading materials about the area) My sister and I had a fantastic time while in Maine and you will too if you have the pleasure of staying at this very cozy home.

We just arrived at your cabin and it is amazing! Wow- we may not leave! Thank you for the goodies when we arrived. How thoughtful:) We had so much fun staying at your place. It could not have been more perfect. Our favorite part was that it was away from all the 'hustle and bustle". We LOVED your cabin! The kids did not want to leave at all. We were torn everyday with what to do! We wanted to explore but did not want to leave property! We did rent another kayak for the week and had an AWESOME time exploring Frenchman’s Bay and a great sunset! We only ate out once because we loved our view and could make some fun seafood meals. Thank you so very much for the use of your Kayak.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. We spent a glorious week watching the tides come in, the gulls return each evening, the bald eagle fly by, and finally on our last day, a seal swim furtively. It was the best. Lucille and Ray MA Lucille and Ray MA

A Special Place for Honeymoon

Guest: Lorraine and Tracy Ferinden (-)
Date of Stay: 09/06/08 Review Submitted: 03/04/10

• Your home will always be a very special place to us, as we spent our honeymoon here. It exceeded our expectations and we had a wonderful tome exploring Mount Desert Island and all its treasures. Every day was an adventure, as were able to kayak on Jordon Pond, ride our bicycles on the carriage trails, take the ferry to Cranberry Island, ride the schooner, and hoist the sails only to come back to your beautiful home and sit by the ocean with a glass of wine looking and the moon, and stars. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place, and for your warm hospitality. Lorraine and Tracy PA
