Love Solitude!

It was our first visit to Solitude and loved it! My family of five fit fine in the condo with the girls on the bunks (15yr old was happy the bottom bunk was bigger!) and my 14 yr old on the pull out couch while mom and dad had the privacy of the bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked and the unit was clean and nicely furnished. We loved having a unit that was ski in/out along with not having to get in a car the whole weekend (with the exception of grocery shopping). I do recommend stocking up on groceries as the nearest store is a good 20 minute each way in good conditions. I highly recommend Solitude and also this condo. in Powderhorn. The owner, Barry, was quick to respond to any questions and helpful with Solitude information.

We stayed in this condo Jan. of 2009 for 6 days. Owner was easy to deal with, everything was as advertised. We had five people total ( 2 adults and 3 twelve year old boys). We slept 5 comfortably--but just read that the owner recently added bunk beds which would make it even better. Solitude is fantastic for skiing. Condo is located a few steps away from the ski rental and then you just walk (or ski) over to the slopes. There was a locker in the lobby to store your skis and equipment. We loaded up on groceries and skied home for lunch everyday. The building right next door housed "Club Solitude" which has a heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, movie room, video games, etc. The perfect thing to keep the kids occupied after a long tiring day on the slopes. This was our first time skiing out west and the instructors/staff at Solitude were top-notch. As another reviewer stated, Solitude is definitely a "skiers" resort--not the place to go if you are looking for nightclubs (although there are bars and restaurants--just not "hopping" nightlife.) We found that it was perfect for our family, as we were too tired at night to want to go anywhere--yet Club Solitude was just a few steps away if we wanted to swim, watch a movie, hot tub, etc. We loved Solitude and this condo was great!

Sorry to not write a review til now. We visited end of ski season in 2010 - early april for a week. Condo was perfect for the 3 of us. Great location. Our 71/2 year old daughter loved to lounge in the bunk bed area (which would have been fine for 2 kids even though we just have one). Having the den/bunkbed was important to have that extra space. When we were snowed in one day Monopoly game was great to have in the condo. We had a leaky toilet but on-site management had it repaired promptly. Snow was incredible as there was a late winter storm, resort area wasn't crowded at all but because it was late in the season the ice rink was closed, and one of the lifts was closed which closed off some beginner runs. The Blue runs at Solitude are pretty difficult so the green runs got really crowed. We skied 2 days at Brighton also (just down the street) and those blue runs were great for beginner-intermediate. Solitude is all about skiing and there's not much else to do so be sure to stop at Whole Foods and the wine store before heading up the mountain.
