Having spent decades in marketing communications, I expect advertising photos to be flattering, but such is not the case. In fact, this place is so much more than it looks like online. These pics can't convey the serene feel, the smell of balsam needles, the sense of deep privacy and the crisp air that envelops you upon arrival ... and makes you want to stay. What a great cottage, appointed with every comfort you'd want. Wonderful location, too. We went to Saratoga every day of our week's stay, and we discovered wonderful hamlets along every path (Oh - plan on stopping daily at The Ice Cream Man outside Schuylerville -- fantastic frozen custard). I definitely recommend this cottage if you're able to go up a normal flight of stairs for the bedrooms.. We wish we were back there now.

WOW! Just what the doctor order! Our family has done a Father's Day mini vacation for years, all book thru VRBO..this has by far been the best!! The location was perfect, the house was comfortable, clean and well apointed w/ everything you would need for a casual get away. It was perfect for our small little family (2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog) Can not say enough about how relaxed we felt, wish we booked a longer stay. Very close to Saratoga but we wished we didnt waste a day going to town and stayed on the lake for that day. The paddle boat was fun for the kids and the canoe fun for the adults. Fires on the water's edge perfect! Watching the boats go by w/ the sun refelecting on the water perfect! Fishing off the dock, the husband didnt catch anything (except grass) but it didnt matter! Dont hesitate to book this rental! Jim was also very accommodating. Hopefully we will see the lake again next Father's Day!!!

Jim & Karen, We'll admit to some apprehension about finding a house online -- all the reviews were really good -- but the house seemed almost too good to be true. After spending 5 peaceful days at your home, we agree that it IS almost too good to be true! It is just perfect. We thank you, Jim & Karen, for being so friendly & easy to deal with, for the efforts made to ensure that our vacation went smoothly, and for the attention to details that made us feel at home immediately. We enjoyed beautiful weather and memorable times with our local family. We feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this little cottage, and look forward to returning - hopefully often. PS - The mattress & the quiet made for really good sleeping! Don & Laura

Jim & Karen, We really enjoyed our two weeks at your cabin on the lake. Your cabin is really beautiful inside and out. As other people mentioned "the pictures on the internet do not do it justice." The fall foliage at this time of year was awesome. We will look forward to coming back at other times when we come to visit our daughter. Is's nice to have somewhere to come "home" to after a busy day. Thank you again, The Moore's

Jim & Karen- We were so pleasantly surprised & thrilled at how beautiful, comfortable & relaxing your lovely lake house is! It brought back memories from childhood of visiting the little lake "camp" of family friends - happy memories I hadn't thought about in years. We didn't see the eagle, but that was probably for the best because he would have fallen right out of that tree laughing when the entire family took an unplanned polar plunge into the lake when we expertly flipped out of the canoe. No Worries - things like that are exactly what makes vacations memorable! We had a wonderful time and are so incredibly grateful to you for your incredible genorosity & hospitality - thank you so, so much! Julie, Pedro & Corabella Dieguez(& Brian and Poe too) PS - This was a perfect time to visit - the autumn colors were unbelievably post card perfect and the weather was perfect too. :)

Jim & Karen, Thank you for everything. Your house is beautiful and we had a wonderful time relaxing and visiting the area. We went fishing, lit a fire by the lake, walked around Lake George and enjoyed the Balloon Festival. Thanks again and we hope to return soon! Becky & Marty

Jim: Thanks for letting us stay in your cottage at the last minute. It was really wonderful. We did see the eagle in the morning. It actually swooped down and caught a fish right by the small log floating down there. This is a great place to stay, we will recommend it to friends. Had a great time. Thanks, The Truby's P.S. - The interior is very well decorated and pleasing to the eye.

Not only did we see the eagle, we had dinner with him. He stayed in the "dead" tree for about 1/2 hour. During that time we roasted hot dogs over an open fire and watched in amazement as the eagle dove down and snatched a fish with his claws out of the water. He brought the fish back to the dead tree and proceeded to eat in our company. As the sun finally started to set, sadly, he departed. I was amazed how unbothered he was with our activities just below him. We even had time to run in and get our camera to capture the moment. We won't forget him (her?) for quite some time! Dear Jim & Karen, Terry, Clare & I had a great time at the Lake. Especially enjoyed the fishing from the canoe was great. Caught some nice size bass and lost a few too, including a large pike that broke the line -- oh well! Spent some time at Saratoga Springs, shopping, eating out and taking in the races. Toured Skidmore College with Clare--good Experience. Most of all, the cottage was great -- very peaceful & comfortable. And yes, we did see the bald eagle on the tree by the dock--quite a site indeed! Many happy memories to take home. Best Regards, Terry, Clare & Charlie A. (Greenwich, CT)

Dear Jim & Karen, My family and I have enjoyed a great week here at the "lake". We've enjoyed doing the "show & tell" in the area for our older daughters, who were born in Saratoga Springs. (14 & 16 years ago). After 4 days of sight seeing we finally got the chance to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the lake. Fishing for the dock was good both days, even my five year old caught several fish. The sunsets by the waters edge were breathtakingly beautiful. The campfires after dark, roasting marshmallows, and making smores were a big hit with all. The bald eagle finally showed up on Fri. eve, catching a fish right beside the dock and perching on the dead tree to partake of he quarry. He stayed with us for 2-3 hours as we marveled at his beauty. Had a great week. Heading back South to the "old North State". Hamptonville, NC. Steven, Wendy, Danielle, Jordyn and Melia.

Dear Jim & Karen, Just a quick note, everyone before us has said it all. In spite of the car disaster and rain, we've thoroughly enjoyed this treasure at the lake. We will certainly try to pop back while the kids are at school. Thanks for everything, We'll be in touch. The Neubelts.

Dear Jim & Karen, We had a wonderful "getaway" at your lovely cottage. The surroundings are beautiful. We had a very relaxing time by the water reading, sharing a few cocktails and sitting by the campfire. We cooked romantic dinners together and found your home has everything one could wish for. Thank you for the plant for our anniversary. This was a wonderful "retreat" away from our busy lives. Jeannette & George. Now back to the "real" world.

Karen & Jim, We all had a wonderful time at your cozy Lake home. It will be part of our cherished family memories. We all enjoyed the wildlife and saw creatures we had never had the opportunity to see up close before. The Bald Eagle by the dock was spectacular! Even our dog, Chance, had the opportunity to discover his own wildlife such as deer and wild turkey. Our kids do have one recommendation though, they suggest fishing from the boat landing at the end of the road. They were pulling out huge fish all day on our last day of vacation! What a delicious diinner! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Hey Jim, I just wanted to check in after our week. Thank You for letting us rent your camp it was a great week. We found it very relaxing and a perfect blend of everything: boating, fishing, swimming, and spending time together. Your road is a great place to take walks to the launch and back. My wife loved to read down at the lake. The master bedroom view is stellar. We ended up catching tons of bass as the South end of the lake(especially my son) and ended up with 2 Northern Pike. The very last night I landed a "lunker" bass that had to go 5 lbs-the biggest fish I have ever caught! -the fireworks between camps is awesome! At any rate, Thank you again We enjoyed ourselves Kevin, Sue, Alyssa, Ethan, and Mike

Hello Jim, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much we enjoyed your lake house last week-end. The cottage is very well appointed, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Your attention to detail and interest in pleasing your guests is evident. You and your wife are clearly very thoughtful. We all enjoyed the paddle boat! When I booked the reservation, I had planned on a nice relaxing week-end with my in-laws...until my daughter asked if she and 3 of her girlfriends from college could join us!! It worked out well though, 2 of them on the air mattress and 2 on the pull out. We enjoyed their company very much and I appreciate your flexibility on that. We came here after the Dave Matthews concert in Saratoga. We look forward to another trip next year, but hope to stay longer. Thanks again, Patty P.S. - The pictures on the web do not do this place justice!

The fireplace/stove was really cozy, and the master-bedroom, with it's huge window overlooking the lake was a huge treat for us. Thank you for making sure our stay was a treat. Warmly, Margaret

Jim and Karen: We wanted to thank you for the use of your great house at the lake. We had a wonderfully relaxing time. My son, Andrew, who is 10, was very sad to leave. I think he used about 12 dozen nightcrawlers while we were there. He keeps asking when we will get to go back!! Again thanks we had a great time!! Leann

My wife and I loved this beautiful "home away from home"! We highly recommend this vacation rental! Actually, this house is better than our home in Rye, NY. This house has everything to make your vacation more enjoyable. The wood burning stove kept us feeling comfy and warm while the temperatures outside were in the single digits. The master bedroom has a fantastic view of the lake and I did not want to get out of bed in the morning because it was so comfortable. We recommend you visit the town of Greenwich, NY which is a short 10 minute drive from the house. There are some nice shops and a few good places to eat. We recommend breakfast or lunch at the Cafe, which is in the center of town. The owners of our rental, Karen and Jim, were easy to work with and helpful with their list of "things to do in the area" folder they left for us. This is a super vacation house to rent!
