The cottage was everything and more than we expected. We were here with our daughters, husbands and grandchildren for our 50th wedding anniversary. We had a fabulous time and will always remember the memories we made. Our grandchildren had the times of their lives fishing everyday off the dock. We can't count the number of fish they caughter. We were all very impressed with all the new appliances and the overall cleanliness of the entire house and grounds. If things work out that everyone can get off at the same time again, this will definitely be our first choice of where to go. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at OGE.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children.

My wife and I have rented other homes from VRBO/Home Away in the past and this by far is the best experience we had. If you read the reviews, look at the pictures, and talk to the owner, you will have no surprises. This home is exactly as represented. It is clean, neat, comfortable, quiet, peaceful and secluded. The sandy shoreline is great and wonderful views of the lake. This house is in the best spot on the lake. Plenty of fish to be caught, saw bald eagles, deer, fox, loons and ducks just from sitting in the screened porch. If I were to own a home on a lake in Wisconsin, this is the house I would want. I can't say enough nice things about this home or the owner. You will not be disappointed. Everything was so easy from going to get a pontoon rental from Jim at Wilson's Bay Lodge on the lake to the welcome package provided by the owner. You will have a great experience here.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family and I had the pleasure to return to "Our Great Escape" again this year. Another beautiful and relaxing vacation that we all needed. The beauty and quality of the cabin offered us a chance to enjoy each other and to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of nature. A couple days of cooler weather gave us a chance to enjoy it's cozy fireplace and charm, while the rest of the beautiful days gave us the chance to enjoy the beauty of the lake and the wildlife. A truly wonderful place to relax and enjoy the pleasures that life offers. We are already counting down the days to next year!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family and I had the most amazing week at OGE!!! Everything about the experience met or exceeded our expectations. I can't say enough about what a fantastic time we had here - absolutely everything we needed was already at the home. We had a large group: 6 adults + 5 kids (ages 2-8) and we had plenty of space and felt very comfortable. The entire week was so incredibly relaxing. It was the perfect place of all of us to be able to just enjoy being together, although there was plenty of space for individuals to have quiet time for reading, napping, etc. The property is beautifully maintained and the owner attended to every detail we needed both before and during our stay. The entire house was very clean and comfortable. The beach and swim area was absolutely perfect for the kids in our group - the adults were able to monitor the swimming from the beach without having to always be in the water. The shallow beach was perfect for the youngest kids in our group, and the older kids spent hours jumping off the dock!! We also spent many hours fishing right from the dock, and it was really nice to have the boat come with the property, as we used that every day for fishing outings as well, and just to tool around and see the lake (we rented a motor from Wilson's Bay Lodge, and the folks there were very helpful as well). Much time was spent reading on the front porch - there was plenty of seating for the group. We were able to enjoy a bonfire every night. The area was GREAT for cycling/running/hiking!!! We enjoyed the property so much that we actually never ate out or did any touristy things in Hayward, except to make trips to the store, which was close enough to make it accessible, but far enough away that we truly felt like we were "away from it all". Everything we needed was in the kitchen, and the grill was a very nice amenity, and we especially appreciated having so many of the infant/toddler supplies there that we didn't have to lug along with us. The view from the home was spectacular!! The photos of the property are very accurate. We saw several eagles and enjoyed many gorgeous sunsets. We had a fantastic week - we felt so welcome and well-cared for by the owner - it is obvious he puts a lot of time into making his guests comfortable. My kids are already asking when we can go back!!! Thanks for a truly memorable week, OGE!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

My family and I recently stayed at this home for our annual vacation. Our family is large (2 adults + 5 kiddos) and we had extra family visiting (+3 more adults). We cannot say enough about how wonderful the home, location & owner are. Absolutely everything you could want is already in the home. We found the house easy to get around (especially since we have a special needs teen who is in a wheelchair). There is super easy (and short!) access to the dock and lakefront. The owner is very conscienous and thoughtful...anything that might need instructions has them and they are ready and waiting. And, for those Moms out there...the house is the cleanest I have ever encountered when renting a summer home. We had such an amazing time, I know we will be remembering this from years to come. Everything you see in the description and pictures is 100% accurate. The fishermen in our family LOVED the fishing and had great results. The non-fishermen in our party enjoyed the peacefullness of the lake and house. We travelled from Northern Florida to vacation in Hayward and the owner did a fabulous job making sure we had plently of information about the area and activities for everyone. We rode horses at the Spider Lake Riding stables (from the house, it's a right onto 77 and you'll find it on the left in about 2 miles. Great folks there, too. Bought killer bread from the Hayward Bakery downtown. Took a very comfortable day trip to Madeline Island so the kids could see one of the Great Lakes. You won't be dissappointed if you choose to stay here!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We could not have asked for a better vacation experience than we had at OGE. The home was lovely and accomodated all 10 of us comfortably. The view of the lake was amazing. We enjoyed the sunsets, the early morning fog on the lake, the call of the loons, watching the red fox trot up the hill in the morning, gathering around the campfire each evening, sharing meals together, fishing, watching the eagle soaring above. It was a joy to visit with the family of ducks that came each evening and sat in the sun on the shore near our campfire. We had fun tubing down a nearby river and going into Hayward for the annual Muskee Festival. It was one of the best vacation experiences we have had as a family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had an awesome vacation at our Great Escape. The home was so comfortable that most mornings, upon waking, it took me a minute to realize that I wasn't in my own bed! The pictures on the website are great, however, seeing is believing. When we walked in and looked around, the house exceeded our expectations! We had 8 adults and 2 children (ages 14 & 11) in our party and there was plenty of room. We never felt like we were on top of each other. The owner has thought of EVERYTHING! The kitchen was better equipped than mine at home. The wildlife is everywhere. We saw fox, deer, eagles, ducks and loons everyday. We rented boats from Wilson Bay -- very nice folks! In sharing our pictures with friends and family, they all say, "Wow, what a really nice house!". Memories were made that will last forever. Thanks OGE!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

We had a great time at Our Great Escape! There were so many amenities that it made packing and traveling easy for our family. Rob's communication leading up to our trip was second to none. Any questions we had about the property, Lost Land Lake, and the Hayward area were all answered prior to us leaving. We felt like we were on vacation with the comforts of home.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family and I have been vacationing on Lost Land Lake for almost 25 years. We have family in Wisconsin and have developed some very close friendships with folks we have met there over these years. While we had stayed in one place previously, we decided that it would be nice to stay in a place where all of us could be together (4 adults and 5 adult children). Living in the Northeast can be hectic and stressful at times, and being able to get away to the quiet and beautiful lake areas of Wisconsin is a blessing. While we have typically enjoyed our previous vacations on Lost Land Lake, none compared to this one. The beauty of the lakehouse -- both inside and out -- was amazing. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. This is one of the first times in the nearly 25 years where we "ate in" almost every night, because we just did not want to leave! We enjoyed beautiful sunrises, amazing wildlife watching cruises on the pontoon (rented from the nicest people at Wilson Bay Lodge), nightly fires in the firepit, star gazing, daily walks through the beautiful woods, breathtaking sunsets, fishing, horseback riding, reading, and even one amazing thunderstorm with lightning blazing over the lake! Most importantly, the serenity and comfort of the lakehouse gave us the wonderful opportunity to spend time with our adult children who just love Lost Land Lake. We are already counting down the weeks until our return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This is our third time renting this beautiful cabin and we are never disappointed. Everything is meticulously cared for and we never tire of our stay. This year the owner added WiFi, which helped tremendously by alleviating the workload when we got home. We spent our days riding on a pontoon rented from Wilson's Bay Lodge, fishing, photographing wildlife and simply relaxing on the breezy screened porch or in the Adirondack chairs on the lawn overlooking Lost Land Lake.. The setting is heavenly, with spectacular views of both the sunrise and the sunset. A perfect getaway for a small or large family.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
