The cabin was very clean and tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture to sit and sleep on. Plenty of deck space to sit out on one of several rocking chairs to read a book or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. It was just my husband and myself but there is plenty of room for more people!!

WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE CABIN AND IN THE CITY OF HIAWASSEE. THE CABIN WAS VERY COMFORTABLE, TASTEFULLY DECORATED AND STOCKED. THE LOCATION OF THE CABIN IS ALSO GREAT AS IT ISN'T TOO FAR FROM THE CENTER OF HIAWASSEE AND IT'S SHOPS. THE CHOPHOUSE REST. WAS DELICIOUS. WE HAD PERFECT WEATHER ALL WEEK AND WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN.

We had such a great time, the cabin was just like coming home. It had everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable. It was even stocked with board games. The owner of this cabin has not left one detail untouched. If you are planning a trip you should really consider staying here. We are a family of 6 and the cabin had plenty of space for all of us. Hopefully one day soon we can stay here again!

My husband and I and our 3 little dogs had a relaxing and peace-filled weekend at Barefoot Retreat. Although we didn't use one of the queen suites we had plenty of room. It was nice that everything was on one level. The cabin has a great mountain view from the front porch. It was clean and well maintained. The location was very nice -- far enough away from the city yet close enough to go into town for dinner or shopping. Hiawassee is only about 10 miles from the cabin. It was too cold during our visit to hike the Appalacian Trail which is only about 2 miles from the cabin. That's for another trip. Would definitely recommend this cabin. The owner was very kind and easy to deal with.

We enjoyed our relaxing weekend in this beautiful, quiet and extremely clean cabin near the top of a mountain. The view from the front porch of other mountains was great. It was magical sitting in the hot tub at night and seeing so many stars clearly. Driving up the mountain late one afternoon we saw four young deer. I had only used VRBO.com once before and I found the information provided for this cabin to be very accurate. The owner and local caretaker were so helpful. We would return again.

We stayed here this past weekend November 12th thru November 15th 2011. This is our 3rd time coming here. We always enjoy coming here. It is always a pleasure to talk with Marsha. She is always willing to work with us. The rates are priced right. The cabin is very clean and everything is in good working order. The view of the mountains is awsome. Highly recommend. We stayed at Barefoot with another couple the last week of October. What a charming place it is! The cabin was exactly as described in the listing and the photos are totally accurate. We arrived after a long day on the road and were delighted to find that we could just put our things away and relax. Quite often we find that some cleaning has to be done before settling in. Countertops are sometimes sticky and dishes not really clean. This was not the case at Barefoot. Everything was impeccable! In addition, everything was well maintained and worked perfectly. The split floor plan was perfect for the two couples, and both suites were much more spacious than anticiapted, with large closets and ample storage. The living area was cozy and inviting. Those recliners in front of the fireplace were absolutely nap-inducing! The spotless kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cookware. Modern appliances made meal preparation a breeze. Nice as the inside of the cabin is, my sister-in-law and I spent many blissful hours enjoying the rocking chairs on the huge front porch. The leaves were in full color, and we could just sit there and look straight up at the gorgeous foliage. Ah, bliss! Hubby and I enjoyed the sparkling clean hot tub in the evening, watching the stars and soaking away the hiking pains. The owner, Marsha, is a delightful lady, and she made it really easy to arrange our visit. She also went out of her way to help us work through a wi-fi issue late one evening, even though the problem was with our personal computer, not the cabin's connecttion. Tina, the on-site manager, is also friendly and helpful. She cheerfully went out of her way to assist us when we had a minor mechanical issue. (again, our ineptness!) She cheerfully interrupted her evening to come right over and quickly put things right. We've stayed at many cabins. Some were closer to town. (We were thrilled with the peace and quiet at Barefoot, which is just a few minutes' beautiful ride from town). Some were larger (Barefoot is plenty large without being uncomfortably huge). But none of them were as completely comfortable, as clean, as well furnished as is Barefoot. We'll be back and will be referring our friends!

Dear Marsha, We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Barefoot retreat. The size and decor were far beyond what we have come to expect from other places. Everywhere you turned you could find special touches. All the furnishings were comfortable and inviting. For 2 1/2 days we had sunshine and 80 degrees. It was hard to believe we were in the mountains1 The third day was rainy and cool which enabled us to curl up in front of the fire and read. The porch was great for enjoying majestic views and sounds of nature. The kitchen was well-equipped and I loved the island. It made preparing food a pleasure not a chore. The living room with 2 recliners was meant for relaxing.I've never stayed in a rental that had recliners. I know you worked diligently to create the atmosphere of the cabin. It did not feel as if we were staying in a stranger's place. It felt more like home. (I could only wish.) I'm not a big shopper but I did enjoy Tater Ridge: Apple Annie's and the Christmas Shop. Then we had to search for the new location of the Tangerine Frog.(We bought some of the best tea there:Bentley's Wild Blueberries...you'll have to try some.) My husband and his bicycle explored various areas, though a few of the steep hills were a challenge. All in all we did not want to go home. Thanks for loaning your home to us.

Beautiful cabin! Almost everything supplied so all you need to bring is your suitcase and groceries. Cabin beautifully decorated and clean. During our mini-vaction (July 25-28) the view was somewhat hazy, but definitely could imagine the view from front porch rockers in the fall. Definitely recommend this home and the owner is a very down to earth, easy person to talk with.

We had a great time staying in your Barefoor Retreat cabin. The layout is perfect for 2 couples, privacy for both with no steps to haul baggage up and down. The Christmas tree was a wonderful touch, and Tina (your manager) went out of her way by coming over to help "the boys" get the fireplace started. It was a GREAT New Year's holiday. We shall return!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband & I stayed at the cabin for an 11th Wedding Anniversary trip. The cabin itself is beautiful, set up in a remote location w/a few other cabins around (so it's not spooky), & just far enough out of town that you hear total quiet at nite. The cabin decor is warm & cozy, the kitchen amenities are perfect, the grill worked well, and the outdoor hot tub was a perfect place to gaze upon the starry sky. I highly recommend this cabin. P.S. The owner is soooo very nice.

We had a lovely stay at Barefoot Retreat and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful get away with a gorgeous mountain view! The house was beautifully decorated and had all of the comforts of home (and then some!). Everything was clean and exceeded our expectations. We loved the neighboring towns and enjoyed exploring the area's scenery. The Chophouse was our favorite for food and view of Lake Chatuge. We plan to return with friends next year! Thank you for sharing your home with us and we look forward to our return visit.

Barefoot Retreat is terrific accommodations. The cabin is well furnished and decorated but very comfortable and very clean. Almost everything needed was already there. Obviously, a lot of thought and preparation has gone into making this an extremely pleasant place to stay. The front deck was our favorite place - great view, plenty big. We gave the rocking chairs a workout! Very enjoyable stay. Close enough to town to run in whenever necessary, but far enough out to feel that country privacy. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The cabin was clean and well decorated. Made a great way to bring in the new year. The fireplace and central heating kept the cabin warm despite the snow. Spotted a deer outside the kitchen window the first morning after we arrived. The cabin was fully equipped with everything most anyone would want (hot tub, full kitchen, satellite TV, wireless internet, etc), including a great view. Highly recommended, A+ experience!

We loved the cabin. My sister, my niece (age 21) and I had just the right amount of room to spread out and enjoy ourselves. I kept the curtains wide open so we could gaze at the wonderful trees and mountain views out every window. The decorating was just right and not too formal so you could relax and just enjoy. The rustic look and the wood on the cabinets, ceiling and floors made it feel like a mountain cabin but it still felt new and clean. We want to bring the whole family back to your larger cabin across the street.

What a way to enjoy a PERFECT weekend getaway. The cabin was located in a great location, had all you need to enjoy a romantic getaway with the fire place and hot tub. We were able to enjoy a local winery in Young Harris to round out a perfect weekend. The owners are very friendly and easy to work with through the whole rental process. I have already recommended the cabin to many co-workers.

This was the best 2 bedroom rental I have ever enjoyed. We loved the location because it wasn't too far from downtown, yet far enough to really provide that peaceful, relaxing atmosphere we really enjoy. The view was terrific and the home is beautifully decorated and well supplied. The cabin is private but not secluded. Access to the home was pretty easy as the roads are 99% paved and there are no major steep inclines. We especially enjoyed the hot tub under the night stary sky and I even saw deer one morning. We will be back!

The cabin was great and we had a wonderful time during our stay. We especially liked the fact that it had 2 Master Suites on the main level, and we did not have to deal with stairs. The view of the mountains from the deck was exceptional, and if the weather had been warmer we would have spent more time outside enjoying it.
