This year, a brand new master bathroom awaits you! Additionally, a brand new deck adds to the beauty and comfort of this beautiful 3BR/2Bath cottage, located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the Sparrow Pond section of Kiawah Island's West Beach Village.
Last year, we added a new, fully equipped kitchen, guest bathroom, and converted the 2nd bedroom into a master suite. Our guests love the changes. The two master bedrooms are great for the adults. One bedroom has a king bed with a TV / DVD player. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed with a TV / DVD player, while the 3rd bedroom has 2 comfortable twin beds and a TV. The master bathroom, located between the two master bedrooms, with its skylights and hand-painted mural of the island's Vanderhorst Plantation, boasts a new shower and beautiful tile work, matching tile floor, and a claw-foot tub.
The enclosed sun room offers beautiful views of a subtropical forest where deer are frequently spotted just outside the floor to ceiling windows. There’s also a comfortable new couch in the family room with a DVD/VHS player & a CD stereo system. The cottage is equipped with free Broadband Internet with access to a secure wireless network.
The wrap-around decking and gas grill allow for easy entertaining. There's a covered 3-car carport and beach chairs are provided. The beach is only a 5 minute scenic stroll past a lagoon and its occasional alligator sightings, and a private neighborhood pool, which is free for guests. Nestled among tall pines, the pool is a great place for the kids when it’s too hot or windy at the Beach. The West Beach Village shops, tennis, golf, and bike rentals are only a 2 minute walk from the cottage. A great spot for a memorable family vacation!

My family and I visit Kiawah an a fairly regular basis. This cottage has everything you could need for a week in paradise. The cottage has been recently re-modeled, offers an open layout, and the sunroom adds that extra space for the kids to hang out and play. The kitchen is all new with top notch appliances and a lot of room to move around. We absolutely loved it! Not to mention the fact that it's just down the street from the pool and minutes away from the beach. The wireless internet came in quite handy as well for those vacationers who still need to "check in" from time to time.

We just returned after staying one week at this lovely property. We had never visited Kiawah Island before and were not sure where to stay and after arriving we discovered that we had chosen the PERFECT location. These cottages are very close to the main gate and an easy 5 minute walk to the ocean and a private neighborhod pool that you pass on your way to and from the ocean. We rode bikes extensively all over the island and would not choose anywhere else to stay on future visits. We could easily bike to Freshfield Village which has a very nice grocery store and many lovely shops and restaurants. We play tennis and again the West Tennis Center is a minute bike ride from the cottage and the East Tennis Center is about a 10 minute bike ride on lovely shaded, flat trails...:) The property was beautifully maintained and easily accomodated our 3 generations. The kitchen is gorgeous and well equipped - we found everything we needed when we chose to eat at home. The owners are wonderful and extremely helpful. My youngest son left his wallet in his room and we discovered it when we were about 4 hours away. I emailed JoAnne and she had someone from the property management company go over to the house - they found it and returned it to my little boy. I cannot thank her enough because my son was devastated (we stopped for fireworks) - wonderful house, wonderful owners, HIGHLY recommend. The absolute highlight of our trip was the bike ride down the ocean to Capt Sam's Inlet (located between Seabrook and Kiawah) - during low tide the dolphins swim into the inlet and swim onto the beach - this is a 10 minute ride from the cottage - l was sitting on the beach and 6 dolphins beached 15 feet from me - the most amazing sight.

The cottage was just as described - clean, comfortable, cable in every room! The master bed and bathroom were truly gorgeous. It was a quick walk to the beach and a local corner store with coffee, candy, etc. We will definitely stay here again. Only issue - grocery stores on the island are very expensive. You should consider buying groceries before you get there.

We just returned from a short stay at this cute cottage. In our 6 years of coming to Kiawah and staying in various condos and cottages, this was definitely our favorite place! The cottage is so close to the beach and the pool. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated. The deck was recently redone and is very spacious, with a large table and plenty of seating. The owners were extremely helpful and easy to work with. We ate at Freshfields a few times, and there is a new restaurant (just before you get to the traffic circle to enter Kiawah) that offers desserts and prepared foods to bake at home. The kids enjoyed the Night Heron Park and made souvenir stepping stones at Kamp Kiawah. I'm hoping that we get to come back next year and stay here again.

Needs Some TLC

LIKED: Kitchen – updated and functional; Master Bathroom – nice shower and pretty mural on walls; Bedrooms – cute comforters with TV’s; Enclosed Sunroom – the extra living space was a good place for our kids to play; Sparrow Pond neighborhood - very pleasant with lots of trees and a community pool; Beach in this area (West Beach Village) is very wide at low tide and has lots of space; Freshfields Village shopping center is a short drive from cottage and has nice shops and restaurants including a grocery store. DISLIKED: Rattan Sectional – pillows are worn and very uncomfortable; Carpet – worn out and soiled; Cottages exterior – outside area was useless because the furniture was dirty, debris was everywhere on deck and in carport, masses of old cobwebs, spider webs and tree residue, railing on staircase was rotted out and swaying, loose floor boards were everywhere – decking was in terrible shape including steps, and grill was rusty and dirty. We asked the owners to have the outside area cleaned. OWNER'S RESPONSE: We could call the property manager and pay someone to clean it, or we could get a hose, bucket and sponge and clean it ourselves. The outside area should have been cleaned prior to our arrival especially since we did pay to rent the cottage; we didn’t go on vacation to clean someone else's deck. The property manager did stop by to put a quick fix to secure the swaying railing. OVERALL: Compared to the other cottages on the street and in the neighborhood, this cottage’s exterior is the least maintained and in desperate need of some TLC. We would not recommend this cottage.
Owner response:In late 2010, the Master Bathroom underwent another renovation with new flooring and shower installations. The Rattan couch, purchased new in 2009, did show unexpectedly excessive wear on the cushions. All the cushions were replaced with a higher grade, firmer material at the end of the 2010 season. The wall to wall carpet is in good shape and is professionally cleaned several times per year. Additionally, at the end of the 2010 season, the entire deck, railings and stairs were replaced. An 80 foot oak tree, which was growing through the deck, although beautiful, was removed at the time of the deck replacement for safety reasons. The roof and deck were cleaned prior to every guest's arrival but with an 80 foot tree on the deck, leaves fall continuously. The cottage is located in a subtropical forest habitat. Expectations of a pristine environment are not consistent with the natural habitat of Kiawah Island. This review, which we feel is malicious, is the only negative review we received in owning and renting the property for 10 years.

Our family of 7 just returned from two weeks at this property in Kiawah. It was wonderful. The photos and description of the property and its amenities are accurate - we knew exactly what to expect. The cottage is clean and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. It is very close to both the pool and beach (one of the better sections of beach on the island). The owners were very helpful, answering questions and providing recommendations for activities, bike rentals, shopping, etc. We felt the rental rates were very reasonable as well. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend.
