This home is about 1/2 mile from Canyon Lake as the crow flies.It is on the south side of the lake near Startzville, which makes it 30 minutes from loop 1604 in San Antonio; 25 minutes from New Braunfels, where Schlitterbaun Water Park is located. There are public boat ramps within 2 miles. There are also State Parks on the lake, one near Cranes Mill marina has a small fishing dock. Startzville has a few restaurants, grocery store, movie rental, and liquor store. Also at Canyon Lake Marina on the North side of the lake, you can rent pontoon and ski boats for about $80. per hour.
This house is where we raised our five children. It has a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. We call it Whippoorwill Hill because in the spring you can hear the Whippoorwill's sing in the evening.(Actually they are "Chuck Will's Widow" which is what the song sounds like. We try to keep some corn on the front porch. You can throw a little out and the deer will really come. Do not try to pet or touch the deer, however.
There is almost always a great breeze. The backyard is fenced for children and pets. You will see deer grazing in the area. The stargazing in the front yard is great. There is a beautiful creek bottom nearby (Tom Creek) for hiking and birdwatching. There is a basic backyard fire pit area. The backyard is fenced. High speed internet wireless is available. The house is in a small gated community.
There is a TV/DVD/ with basic cable in the family room and master.
Cell phone service is excellent in the area and there is a house phone for local calls.
There is a fireplace the livingroom and we provide firewood.
Tubing on the Guadalupe is only 17 miles away. New Braunfels is 30 minutes away.
The location is centrally located to many points of interest throughout the hill country.
The house has three bedrooms with a fourth small room with a twin bed and a fold out full size bed. There is also a sunroom with a fold out sleeper, double in size.

This house is a great place for family get togethers and simple living. Not fancy but practical. There is also another house on the property that can be used in conjunction with this house. The other house will sleep up to 10 people and is located down the hill about a hundred yards. The vrbo # is 228919, for more information.
Please note that by law, any rentals 30 days or less will charged a
State Hotel Tax of 6%; and
a Comal County Water District Tax of 4%
Also pertaining to pets, we can not allow cats indside of the house.
There will be a one time $25.00 charge per pet up to two pets.
