My wife and I stayed here for almost 2 weeks and very much enjoyed the location and accommodations. The owner (Marie) was very friendly and helpful. The cottage is well equipped - nice kitchen and bath shower - and was very clean. Great beaches are about 15 minutes away; the Mauna Kea astronomy viewing center about 40, which is about as close as I could get (we were there to view the transit of Venus). We plan to return sometime next year and would like to stay here again.

Our stay at Marie's lovely cottage was just perfect. We needed a place to stay in Waimea while visiting family and attending our grandaughter's graduation from Parker School. The cottage met all our needs: quiet surroundings, very clean cottage, comfy bed, great linens, spacious but not huge, nice kitchen and bath, orchids in every room, lovely plants in the yard and easy to find from Waimea. The friendly outdoors cat was an extra bonus. Marie is extremely hospitable and we thank her for a wonderful visit.

Fabulous adventurous vacation!
Fabulous adventurous vacation!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time on this vacation. We used Marie's cottage as a home base from which to explore the island. We were there for a week and every morning enjoyed a great breakfast at the house, made a picnic lunch, and then headed out for the day. The cottage was a great place to return to after a day of hiking, lying on the beach or poking around small towns. Marie provided us with beach towels, mats, a cooler and even boogie boards! We purchased some very inexpensive snorkels and masks that worked great and left those there, so the place is pretty much set up for any activity you might want to partake in! The weather was cool and windy in the late afternoon/evening which was actually a nice respite from the heat of the beaches. There is some road noise from Kohala Mountain Rd., but not too bad. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found Marie to be very pleasant and accommodating. The cottage was very centrally located for all of our explorations and adventures!!

Owner response: Thank you for five golden stars ... Encore! I am glad, you could assure me, that your nights were restful. This comes with my apologies indeed, for the added daytime commotion, -there was construction at our vis-a-vis during your stay: Hawaii Preparatory Academy's Entrance near the Davies Chapel now has a Guard House. The work was finished the day you moved out,(April 30!). Some good news at least to that: A "Green Zone" is open to visiting Runners and Walkers at assigned hours, starting as early as 5 am. The green zone Polo and Equestrian Fields are located across from the Cottage. Maps available at the Guard house.

We spent almost 3 weeks at this place, wishing it would last longer. The place itself has its own atmosphere, is very clean and cosy, with a sensitive touch of the owner. Fresh air around with a view of green hills and Mauna Kea cheers you after a hot day spent at one of the best beaches on the Earth. Our little daughter especially enjoyed the garden, where she was discovering the nature of Hawaii. After some traveling on the island (btw: car is necessary here), we were really glad to choose this village and this house. It is worth flyling 24 hours to come back here again, because of this special place in the world. THANK YOU, MARIE.

Thank you for such a nice, clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay. I was in Waimea for work and it was very nice to come back to a "home away from home" where I could kick back and relax. It is nice to have a fully functioning kitchen to make your own food as eating our gets "old" and expensive. I would hightly recommend this cottage for vacation or work. C. Wilder, MD

Owner response: Seeing some of our features so nicely 'bundled', - is as a gift to me. - Your comment is taken with gratitude. Happy returns! Marie
This cottage was very clean and comfortable, and all the more enjoyable thanks to the kind hospitality of Marie. It is only a short drive down to all the wonderful beaches--and Marie kindly supplied us with beach mats and chairs, boggie boards, towels, and cooler. We only wish that we had more time to spend here-- Mahalo, Marie

09/22-10/1/2008 This was the perfect place for us to stay on the island. We really loved the big yard where our three year old could run and play. We admired the amazing night skies full of stars every evening. The location was just spot on. We could easily get to the best beaches, Waipio valley and to the volcano park. Thank you Marie for all the good care and for the pineapple too :-) Mahalo and Aloha Daniel, Zdenka and Lukas

March 12-15, 2008. Just three glorious aloha days, and I wholeheartedly recommend this charming cottage. It is kept immaculately clean and comfortable, with fully equipped kitchen and all else that a great B&B offers. Located centrally in a most beautiful green and sunny area of Big island. The nearby beaches are white sand and protected for great swimming/snorkeling and glorious Kona side(West)sunsets.

About the owner: Europe - Beverly Hills - Kamuela! We arrived in Kamuela in 1971. Much has changed around us. Some of the magnificent and pristine white sand beaches now have *five-star Resorts on them; - still, many of the untouched, and wild Beaches still remain on this multi-faceted Island. Most of all, this lovely Village of Waimea/Kamuela - still looks like "Grandma Moses" had just put it there, - meantime the quiet and spirit of Aloha prevail.
Why the Owner Chose Kamuela (Waimea):
It was a good idea.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
It is peaceful and climate wise an ideal location. It provides autonomy and privacy- yet with most points of interest are easy to reach.
