We loved our stay at Hana Kai 206. It's an adorable unit w/all amenities. The decor was top notch, and there are photographs blown up on canvas of all the best in Maui on the walls. It was also a beautiful location. The black sand beach there was beautiful, and the grounds were beautifully landscaped w/koi ponds. Red Sand Beach is just up the street. We went on a helicopter tour to West Maui and Molokai at 9am, then drove the road to Hana. We stopped at Hana Kai 206 and stayed overnight, then continued to do the Pipiwai trail and Oheo gulch at the end of the road. We could have easily stayed another night, but hadn't planned it that way, so alas, we had to go back. It was gorgeous, we loved it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We were so pleased we were able to accommodate your one night stay! As long as we are close to the date of arrival, and my cleaning staff can handle the short 'turn around', we are happy to take guests for one night. But alas, it sure would have been fun to have you for two!!

Hana Kai 206 is loaded with artistic touches that bring the tropical beauty of Hana inside. We were greeted by a gorgeous flower arrangement on the kitchen counter containing perfect specimens of every gorgeous flower we had photographed on the road trip up. Showering after the long drive was very refreshing. The luxurious bath features a unique adjustable double shower head and luscious coconut soap. A lava rock sink and beautiful rock tiles with turtle impressions really added a touch of elegance. All the spices and little extras we needed to prepare our favorite dinner were found in the cabinets and even ice packs in the refrigerator - so running out the Hasawaga Store wasn't really necessary. But the store is only just moments away, with lots of history and interesting local information so we visited it anyway. The owners of 206 have provided everything you can think of to enjoy yourself while playing and relaxing here and on the nearby beaches. Their recommendations of things to do was very helpful and right on. We photographed fantastic waterfalls just a shortdrive away, captured magnificent sunrises from nearby Koki Beach and off the 206 lanai, plus caught some great waves with the boogie boards provided by the owners. The loft with bamboo A frame ceiling and king sized adjustable bed is beyond comfortable - often its a challenge to not nap your whole afternoon away. The black rock beach at the foot of the complex is loaded with washed up surprises from the sea each morning. Oh and did I mention the coffee tastes 1000 times better sipping on the units lanai at sunrise ? This is by far one of the coziest most beautiful places I have vacationed. Its like you are hidden away in a tropical paradise with all the comforts of home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Believe the reviews! Shayla and Mark's Hana Kai condo is stellar! Just like their Maui Kai unit, this unit in CLEAN, and everything you could possible need or want is provided for you (except your food, of course). There is a constant ocean breeze flowing through the unit--so restful! The lanai is perfect for ocean gazing and enjoying your evening cocktails. Bed and futon were very comfortable. Bathroom spacious and well ordered. Kitchen was small, but very functional. The best thing about Hana is the peaceful atmosphere. Kick back, relax and enjoy the area!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed in Hana 206 a few weeks ago, and it has taken this long to get back to the real world. We stayed in Hana For our 30th anniversary, it was our last stop on the islands, we couldn't have picked a better spot to stay. The condo is all it's cracked up to be and more. Hana was just what we had hoped it would be. We loved the blender for pina colodas every night on the lanai. We spent most of our evenings out there enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean, a great way to unwind after days of hiking and sight seeing. Thank you so much for the hospitality. Shayla, I was able to find that great soap, and it will always bring us back to our great hana vacation. Chuck and Sheila NoelDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Well appointed, spectacular spot and very relaxing. We are so glad we took a few extra days after Maui Kai 301 (same owners). We had not been to Hana for many years and we almost forgot how laid back and beautiful it was. The condo was very comfortable and well done with everything you could need. Don't miss Hana and this is the ideal place to stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Hana Kai 206 (which is independently run, unlike the other 16 units) is a wonderful resting spot in Hana, walking distance to the wharf and the general store where you will pick up food, and right on the ocean. The owners attention to detail shows both in their very nice remodeling as well as in anticipating in thoughtful ways the needs of their guests so far from civilization. The condo is perfect for a couple, but also has a futon downstairs. The sleeping area in the loft is very comfortable, and the sounds of the ocean are impressively soothing. Watching sunrise n the lanai over the water isn't so early if you've just arrived from the 48 You didn't decide to visit Hana for the town's activity--you came so that you could enjoy without rushing the drive here, the trails at the park 45 minutes further away, perhaps the black sand or red sand beaches, and likely for the serentiy and peacefulness without the development elsewhere. For that, HK 206 fits right in, even providing if you wish snorkel gear and boogie boards as well as Kona coffee, a full kitchen, a modern bath, and other amenities. In addition, the owners are personable and helpful, and their website easy. They also provided considerable supplemental information both prior to the trip and in the condo which would augment the research a couple might have done in advance. For instance, don't miss the lunch at Bradda's Hutt's. If you have special needs, they will do their best to accommodate in a thoughtful and helpful way.Did you find this review helpful? Unit 206 is beautiful. Shayla, the owner, has remodeled the condo with really cool details. She turned a studio condo into a 1 bedroom by building a loft bedroom which has plenty of headroom because the condo ceiling is about 20 feet high. The bedroom walls and ceiling are covered in bamboo matting and the bedspread has tropical flowers so you really feel like you're in paradise. The bed also has dual controls for mattress firmness. The bathroom has really pretty tile and fixtures and the bathroom sink is a big lava rock with a bowl carved in it, super cool. All the kitchen appliances are high-end too and everything is labeled so you can find things or know how to operate something. The balcony is wonderful for dining and has a beautiful view of the beach which is just steps away. Shayla's even provided DVD's, books, CD's, games, etc. All sorts of things to make your stay comfortable. There's even lots of spices, etc. in the cupboards for your use. Shayla is really fantastic and provides a lot of information about the condo and facilities but also what to do in Hana and the surrounding area, her personal recommendations for dining (indoors and road-side) and what beaches are best for different activities. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in Hana.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Shayla Your home in paradise was that and more. All your little details that I wanted to take home...made our stay comfortable and unbelievable. From the extras in the kitchen to the delightful pampering bathroom products, the coolers and beachgear to the view. We would suggest to anyone that is staying in Hana for a night or more to stay here. Renting directly from Shayla was so easy and such a pleasure. It is just like a boutique b&b except you have to cook! Thank you for making our stay in your home in paradise a dream come true. Hana and area is worth the visit. We would suggest that you take at least 3 days or more here to see this part of Maui. There is really much more to see than you expect. Mahalo Shayla.Did you find this review helpful? STAY HERE! I am one of those travellers that seek high and low to find the best places to stay when on vacation. My family (husband, daughter, and I) love the beach, and this condo definitely has a wonderful view of the beach. We enjoyed walking on the beach in the morning and coming home to relax there later in the day. We ate breakfast outside on the covered patio while looking for whales-we saw several "blowing" in the morning and evening hours. Everything is exactly as described. Many extras in condo that we forgot at home-umbrellas, ice chests, extra beach towels. These were all greatly appreciated. Hana is truly a unique experience, and this particular condo was fabulous.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Mark and Shayla, Your condo is beautiful --you have thought of everything to make it more than just a rental condo. Well stocked with quality items from linens to snorkel gear. Easy communication with you prior to our arrival made it easy to determine what we could leave at home, sights and activities in the area, etc. The upgrade was obviously a labor of love. We will definitely stay there again, given the opportunity! MahaloDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Aloha Shayla! I can't express enough what a wonderful stay we had at your beautiful condo in lovely Hana! It was the perfect ending to our 2-week vacation on the islands. You and Mark did a fabulous job on your recent renovations - impeccable detail and such beautiful aloha style. We had all the comfortable amenities we could have asked for, it was such a treat for us. We look forward to our next stay at Hana Kai 206! Mahalo! Cliff and HeatherDid you find this review helpful? Some people have been writing reviews for the Hana Kai Condo complex, but this is specifically for Unit #206. This unit is owned independently from the rest of the condos. As such, it appeared to be in much nicer condition from the other condos we peeked into as we checked out. It's been fully remodeled and updated to be a luxurious getaway place. A lot of nice finishing touches were put in to give it a "boutique hotel room" sort of feel from the "rock" sink in the bathroom to the amazing shower head in the shower, with the amazing coconut soap/shampoo. This is the only unit with a dishwasher in it. The owners also had beachtowels, coolers, lawn chairs and snorkel gear for us to use during our stay. The even provided a popcorn maker, portable DVD player with a selection of DVDs, an espresso maker, a small library of reading material, and an iPod docking station with speakers. The lanai was beautiful laid out and a perfect place to enjoy your meals, or just relax in the papasan chair and take in the gorgeous view of the ocean. We fell asleep every night and awoke to the sound of the waves crashing on the shoreline. Super relaxing! The tips about Hana were invaluable! We tried out much of the advice and our favorite was the tip about eating at the local roadside food takeouts. Braddah Hutt's was amazing...and just about the best meal we had on Maui! BBQ chicken, steak and ribs to die for. The chef was even asked to cook for Hillary Clinton when she visited...and now we know why! Yum! If you can stay in Hana for a couple of nights, I would recommend it. It's so much more than a day trip out there and back. Hana itself doesn't offer a lot to do/see necessarily but there is much to do around there...including the Hanakalaka State Park (Pools of Oheo, etc) and heavenly beaches and waterfalls. We stopped as much on the way back, as we did on the way out. Less stressful that way. I would recommend buying groceries before you leave for Hana...it will save you some $$ that way. The two stores in Hana offer a lot, but prices are definitely higher. The only cons I have are that the lanai doors are hard to open/shut and that we had really noisy neighbors one night which marred our stay a bit. But beyond that, it was paradise!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hana Kai 206 - a lovely place! We’ve definitely enjoyed every moment of our stay at the unit 206. The unit was just as I expected (perfect location for exploring the southern part of Maui, condo: nice interior and lovely view from the balcony) but my wife liked it even better - she was amazed by the bathroom, the pictures and every single detail. It was one of our most comfortable stay not only in Hawaii but also during our long trip from Hungary. We would love to stay here again. Thanks ShaylaDid you find this review helpful? “This Place is Great!”We have been together for months but his is our first trip together and I am happy we spent this time in your place. Hana was great, the seven pools was and is nearly breathtaking. Dinner at the hotel bar was nice but $9 for a quesadilla is a bit much. Hana Ranch is not always open and as we found out reservations are required. Actually my favorite was the $10 frozen pizza that we brought home from Hasegawa’s. This was an amazing time. Great views (even from our room) good food. Drinks already in the fridge when we arrived but the company I kept while here was the outstanding and most endearing part of my stay. Thanks for everything.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“Your place is Beautiful”And the travertine/granite/lava rock sink give it a lot of class! We watched 2 sunrises from the lanai and enjoyed gazing at the surfers and outriggers in the afternoons. This was our second visit to Hana and we got to all our favorite spots (7 Falls, Black Sand Beach, Red Sand Beach, Hamoa Beach – and Hytota’s lunch plate- yum!) and the added new favorite, Pipiwai hike- loved the bamboo forest and huge waterfall at the end!Did you find this review helpful? “Comfort in Heaven”Shayla and Mark, Thanks so much for the care you’ve put into 206. It really shows… comfort in Heaven/ We loved Luna Spa, Pools, Hamoa and State Park hike. Get up at sunrise, leave right after and you’ll have the sights to yourself. The fisherman at Koki sold us the freshest Ahi we ever had! Fruit stand by the State Park is better than Ono farms. Peace to all. Enjoy and MahaloMichael and Jennifer, Chicago, ILDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

May 13-16, 2008“This Place is like a Spa Retreat!”It is evident that you spared no expense… from the tile (love the turtles in the bathroom!) to the fans, to the décor, to the bed!!!This was my third time to Maui and my husband’s first. But this was my first time staying in Hana. So, instead of rushing through the breathtaking beauty of the ‘road to Hana’- we were actually able to experience it. Peace, Tranqulity, Beauty and the Love of my Life. It just doesn’t get any better than that! I pray that the Lord will Bless you and your home. May He bring you Peace, Joy and Deepening, lasting Love for each other. I pray we may be able to experience this place again!! MAHALO!Sandee and Scott, La Mesa, CADid you find this review helpful? Hello Shayla....finally home (to an ice storm!!) after 3 islands and a stop in San Diego to visit our son. Wanted to say thank you again for letting us rent your wonderful unit. You have put so much work and love into it, it just reflects all over! That bathroom bowl is to die for...I just couldnt fit it in my suitcase! We are sorry the weather wasnt quite as wonderful, but that is the worst we have ever had in our dozen or more trips to the islands over the years...and it never was bad enough to stop us.....just a little rust instead of suntan. Thank you again for all the wonderful touches in the unit...hopefully we will return for our 45th ........ GloriaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“Thanks!”Shayla and Mark, Thanks! From waterfalls to boogie boards…surises to late-night movies… horses on Haleakala to stars on the pier at Tutu’s… we covered as much as we could in 5 days! And the whales we saw off the coast at the park- incredible! Such magnificent wonders of the deep! We’re off to east coast USA continental, but not before we stop at Hana Maui Real Estate… However, we liked Oahu too and have resident friends there! Perhaps we’ll see your ‘haven’ again… or meet sometime in person! If we end up in Oahu, we’ll ‘hop’ over here to visit! Thanks again- Anna and BillDid you find this review helpful? I stayed at the Hana Kai resort for a few days to get away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy part of the Maui. It was so refreshing to get away and spend a little time in the seclusion of Hana. The road to Hana has over 600 turns but it is very beautiful, just take it slow and enjoy the beautiful ocean views and jungle scenery…unless you are the one driving, then you might want to watch the road :-) . I stayed in unit 206 and all I can say is “wow”. This unit must have been completely remodeled and is very nice. Things that made me smile about it: cleanliness, the view, Internet (Yes!), sleep number bed, stone tiled floors and granite counter tops, beautifully unique stone sink in the bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen and new appliances. I had the opportunity to meet a few other vacationers that were staying in the Hana Kai and see the condos they were staying in. They were all pretty nice, but I felt really lucky that I was in 206. This place just seems to have been taken to the next level. It is a second floor unit, there are only 2 floors, and has a great view of Hana Bay. I could wake up in the morning, sit out on the lanai with a cup of coffee and watch the surfers and boogie boarders while breathing in the fresh Hana air...awesome ;-) Let’s just say, nobody had to tell me to relax… I went to Hamoa beach a few times to go boogie boarding myself, which offered nice big waves and a beautiful sandy beach. There is also a very nice hike up the seven pools. Hana seems to carry on with you after you leave more so than other places I have been and unit 206 was the perfect match for my memories.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
