My wife and I are thrilled with our decision to stay in this wonderful Outer Banks home. If you choose to do the same you will not be disappointed. This being our first trip to the Outer Banks we were not sure where to stay. If you have been surfing VRBO you know the choices in this area are immense. We almost went south to Hatteras, we almost went north to Duck. After being here and visiting those areas we can say thank goodness we stayed in Pirate's Cove on Roanoke island. If you choose this home you will find QCV. Quality, Convenience and Value! Quality? The open areas and furnishings of this high end home make it a pleasure to stay in. The photographs don't do the home justice, especially the top floor which has the main living area and one of the two Master bedrooms. The special thing about the top floor is the entire back wall of the house, which looks over the boardwalk, canal, and across the salt grass marsh to the sound, is literally glass. What beautiful water vista's. The development is re-pleat with many many amenities and lovely homes however, one thing we are most amazed with is in the middle of everything offered this home is quiet, relaxed and removed from all sense of hustle and bustle. On the issue of convenience what a wonderful location. This home is CENTRALLY LOCATED to all the OBX has to offer. The beach is just across the bridge with ample public access, Roanoke island itself offers much to do. Easy day trips can be made all the way north to Corolla and South all the way to the southern end of Cape Hatteras. Going south it is even within the scope of a day trip to take the 40 minute ferry ride from Hatteras further south over to Ocracoke island. There you can Explore the former home of Blackbeard and see the oldest lighthouse standing in America. If one were staying north in Duck or South in Hatteras it would be hard to travel to and from the "other ends" of the OBX in a day. Nags Head is immediate to this home and filled with shopping which pleased my wife greatly. Going to Kitty Hawk is no more than a typical drive to town. As it pertains to value I'll say my wife and I usually vacation in October and we always stay in vacation homes. Who can be comfortable in a little matchbox hotel room for a week? Simply stated this home gave us as much or more "bang for our buck" as we have ever had. We have really enjoyed our first trip to the OBX and this home is a large part of the reason why. We don't want to leave!

If you love to ride, this is the place to stay! Our family stayed here last yr and will be staying again this yr. Take a look at the pictures and you'll see why. My favorite things "to do"...get on your bike, take a left out the entrance, go over the bridge (the ONLY hill), take a right and ride for miles and miles...yes, you have to ride into the wind but when you turn around put up your sail and fly home!! Another can't miss are the dunes. Our kids loved running on them and watching all the kites. We had 3 families in the house and it was perfect.

Our visit to Nags Head/Manteo was made even more wonderful by our stay at this home. The rooms are spacious, nicely furnished, clean and comfy. The views of the sunsets are stunning and the proximity to the shops and restaurants in both Manteo and Nags Head mean you are right in the mix of things. We can't wait to stay again and are planning a visit again in May. You won't be disappointed in this home or its amenities. It is a perfect place to stay in our favorite vacation spot. See you again soon!!

Our family of 6 stayed at this home for Thanksgiving weekend, 2010 and had a wonderful time. Pirate's Cove community is a great family oriented community. Views from the back deck are wonderful and the house was just as described in the listing. Proximity to local attractions and better-than-average rental price made this home ideal for us. We would definitely consider renting it again when we return to the Outer Banks.

-doors don't lock properly -front swing is rusted and broken, -heat didn't work for our visit (50* outside and gusting to 40 mph)- It was not fixable during our visit so the owners promised a refund of $100 but that has not been received. -oven was filthy -dead bugs and crumbs on already dirty and stained carpet -sour towels -dirty hot tub water with broken cover
Owner response:We appreciate your concerns. We recently installed a new (heating/cooling system) in 2011 and we again apologize for the inconvenience and take an uncleanliness seriously and will make sure our cleaning team (which also handles the linens) does a better job with making guests feel not just welcomed, but cozy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this house. It was everything they said and MORE! Property was clean and listing description was accurate. IT IS A REAL BARGAIN!!! Loved walking and riding bikes in Pirates Cove, swimming and played a little tennis too. Everything you could want is right there-----and the ocean just across the bridge. Owners were very hepful in working with us to plan our trip. Was really an all around great experience--------and to prove it, we already have another week set for June this year.

Wow! What a great time we just had at this gorgeous home in Manteo! Our family of 4 stayed with another family of 4 and we had plenty of room. This is a first class property with beautiful furnishings - even the mattresses were top quality. VERY CLEAN HOME! The view from both the HUGE upper and lower decks is beautiful, as it overlooks the quiet waterway - VERY private! Large hottub overlooking water. We can't wait to go back. Great shopping, restaurants. You will love this place.
