Our family of 4 (2 children ages 4 and 6) loved staying at David's Marais apartment. It was so well situated and the layout was perfect. Everything you need is in the apartment and many stores are nearby for croissants and cheese and wine! The furnishings are ecclectic and comfortable. The kitchen is well functioning (love having laundry and actually we used the dishwasher often as we ate in the apartment several times) the kettle and coffee machine were also well used and loved. The beds were very very comfy. David was very responsive and was able to get us a larger taxi for our trip to the airport. The building is very quiet and so everyone slept very well (we honestly never heard anything from our bedrooms and I am a very light sleeper). We will return again! Thanks David!

This property is ideally located and a perfect center point for exploring Paris. Stayed here with 3 friends (I've never been to Paris) and we walked to Notre Dame, Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Jardin de Luxembourg among many other sites. The Metro is very close as is Place des Voges. David has provided a beautiful place to return after a long day of touring and unwind in a quiet haven. The apartment is clean, quaintly decorated, a large bath, comfortable beds, working appliances and the free calls home are a lovely bonus. Everyone is friendly, the bakery across the street is divine and excellent boutiques surround the area. This is a very safe area and we went running throughout the week able to explore in many directions. I highly recommend this location and plan to return with my family.

The apartment was not ready when we arrived, as the cleaning lady had forgotten. We were unable to get in as promised, and when we did, it was not a good thing. However, she then came, and when it was all tidied up and ready, we had a truly lovely visit. David could not have been more accomodating. The apartment is very authentic Paris, and although the pictures are really, really flattering and the furniture is not really located where the photographer put it for pictures, it is generally as the photos show it, just not so bright and shiny. By the time we left, we loved it all, and wouldn't change a thing. The area is so very convenient, public transportation is great, and everything we needed was there. We had two couples, who travel together often, and we all completely agree about the beds being comfortable! Thank you David, and I hope you fixed the dining chairs before those sweet little things get too damaged to repair. Love all the antiques in the apartment. So very French! Merci, David, merci!!

A lovely, quintessentially French apartment steps from the Place des Vosges. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated the option of having the second bedroom configured for my two adult sons who came along on the trip. Quiet location. The owner was exceptionally helpful and arranged for taxis for all of us on our differing departure dates. I would not hesitate to recommend this "home in Paris" to friends, family and anyone looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in the Marais section of the city.

My sister and I have just returned from our stay in Paris at David's apartment and it didn't disappoint! I would return in a heartbeat. David's descriptions were accurate, and and we felt safe and sound staying there. It was clean, David was helpful if we had any questions, and I would recommend the apartment highly. We really appreciated the complementary telelphone service. The ease of getting around (by Metro, Bus or by foot) made it attractive in the first place, but all the more so in reality. My first impression of the apartment was "funky," but in a good way. Just what we were looking/hoping for. I hope to return someday. Thanks, David, for the taxi help on that last day!
Owner response:Yes, I try to keep the "Ikea factor" to a minimum. Thanks ! -hope to have you back soon.

We just returned from a lovely stay in this very comfortable apartment on a great block in Le Marais. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and just as described... very comfortable, quirky in the fun, authentic way. Bedrooms were large and comfortable, the bath super clean, with plenty of hot water, and a nicely equipped kitchen, which we used quite a lot given the fantastic food shopping that we New York foodies crave. The owner, David, was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive. The location was great, a bus right on the street takes you directly to the Louvre and over the Seine, and metro stops very close by. We highly recommend this apartment and would certainly stay again.

I stayed in this wonderful apartment with 3 friends in early March, 2011. We travelled to Paris to run the Semi-Marathon de Paris. Supportive beds were important. David, the owner assured us that they would be supportive mattresses and they were. As four women traveling, we wanted to feel safe and enjoy our special week of complete relaxation. This apartment is the place. It is very quiet since you go through a courtyard to get to the elevator and go up to the apartment. You can also take the stairs. The building itself is on an active street but you wouldn't know when you are in the apartment. There are many excellent bakeries around the apartment. They all have great croissants but for the most sublime, it's the one next to Place des Vosges. I think it's called Giraud. The brasserie two blocks toward the metro St. Paul is friendly and authentic. David, the apartment owner, was extremely helpful and available. The shower is good and hot. The tub is big for soaking. The kitchen is clean and has all of your appliance needs, as well as tea and condiments. The arrondisement is very safe and full of boutiques. The Jewish quarter is in the next arrondisement and is easily walked to if it interests you. The location is fabulous, close to the metro, and there more authentic than touristy. The cost was probably half of what a hotel would have cost us. This is a wonderful choice. Thank you, David!

This flat is just as it looks in the photos. Very parisienne, only spacious. There were 4 of us, including 2 energetic teenagers and lots of luggage - plenty of room. Lift was tiny but being the grandma, I got to travel in the lift while the others took the stairs. Clean, comfortable and central. Two nice restaurants a stone's throw away. Free telephone calls was wonderful and David, our host, was very helpful. Would recommend for any combination of travellers. The Marais is an exciting area of Paris and a walk around the Place do Vosges is a must.

We stayed in David's rue de Turenne apartment from September 24 to October 10 and were very pleased with everything. The location can't be beat, you are in the middle of the Marais with bakeries, cheese shops, Monoprix, boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants and the beautiful Place des Voges all close by. The apartment really does have everything you need ~ the kitchen is very well equipped and has a separate washer and a dryer that really dries! We had free wifi that worked seamlessly, even with 4 laptops/ipads on at the same time. Being able to call home to Canada for free was a bonus as well. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were very large and we never ran out of hot water for showers, even with 4 adults. David is a wonderful landlord and a really nice guy who was very responsive with e-mail inquiries (and I had lots, lol!). We would rent this apartment again and would recommend it to our family and friends with no hesitation.

My brother and I recently spent 7 days in David's apartment. The position in the fascinating Marais district was unbeatable and the apartment was very comfortable, very French and very convenient. All mod cons necessary for a wonderful stay in Paris. David was very welcoming, very helpful and I hope to return during the next 12 months.

The location was great but because it was August some of the area was closed. For example, many of the shops were closed for the month on the other hand most of the restaurants were open. Apparently it was difficult to get a maid to clean because when we arrived there were dirty towels and linens all over the small kitchen laying in front of the washer and broken dryer. There were more linens dumped on the bureau in the second room. The dishwasher was full of dishes and I had to run it again. Also there were dishes in the sink and the sink was not clean. The floors had not been swept and when I called David the phone was broken. As it got dark, we realized the light bulbs were burnt out. We saw David, who is a really nice person, once at the beginning of out stay. Two of the nights out of the seven, there were loud parties followed by French obscenities being cast by outraged neighbors. Apparently parents were out vacationing and the children were home partying in two of the units in the courtyard. This was completely out of David's control however it is not what I would categorize as "quiet". In one instance the apartment faced the courtyard but was not part of our building. That party ended abruptly about 4am after glass bottles were dropped on to the courtyard. The other apartment were teenagers in our building and they had to be approached twice before they quieted down for the evening around 1am. Paris was lovely and the unit is very close to the Metro and to many of the more interesting parts of the city. We would stay in Le Marais again but we would find a more accommodating unit.
Owner response:I'm sorry to hear of the strings of problems you had to go through. I do my best to solve issues within my control as fast as possible, and I should point out that since your stay in August 2009, I've changed my cleaning staff for someone who's a much more efficient and dedicated "dust buster" and allocated extra time to make sure the apartment is thoroughly cleaned between stays. And of course a new dryer was ordered and replaced as soon as the old one was pronounced dead. Thanks for the constructive remarks, and I do hope you'll return to my property in the future.

Recently our family of 5 spent 8 wonderful days in David's very French in style, very quiet but very well appointed apartment. Large bedrooms and the kitchen with all mod cons plus that washer and dryer so essential travelling with the family. The apartment is superbly located in the Le Marais area of Paris (the very best area to stay) and we were able to walk to most of the sites of Paris from the apartment. Used the Metro for our return mostly St Paul but 2 other stations are close by. A couple of good supermarkets near St.Paul plus a smaller one close to the apartment served us well for all our food and wine supplies. Really appreciated being able to call our family and friends back in Australia for no charge as well as the free internet, such services a real bonus. The Marias has wonderful restaurants, food shops and is so full of life without feeling at all touristy which is exactly what we were looking for. Was a pleasure to return to our quiet, atmospheric apartment after a long day out. David was so helpful and obliging, gave us lots of info to assist with our trip and right from the first booking inquiry we found it just a pleasure to deal with David. Thank-you David for a wonderful stay in Paris.

We stayed in David's appartment for the first week of April 2007 and loved the appartment and the location. There was plenty of room for 4 adults, the appartment was quiet, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the aspect light and airy. We really liked having access to free phone calls home to Australia and the UK to keep in touch with our children and the washing machine was appreciated. Dealing with David from the time of booking to our arrival was a pleasure and we found the concierge equally as friendly. In the immediate surroundings the Place des Vosges, the Bastile area and the Museums of the Marais and the Seine and Notre Dame were all within walking distance and we made good use of all three local metro stations depending on our sightseeing for the day. St Paul on Metro line no 1 was the most useful giving access to most of the main sights within 10 - 15 minutes. There are lots of good places to eat nearby and at the end of a long day you would find us at the blue cafe on the intersection of Rue de Turenne and Rue des Francs Bourgeois just watching the Parisien world go by! Couldn't recommend this appartment and the location more highly! Thanks David for making your appartment available to us.

Why stay at a hotel ever again? Our week at David’s lovely apartment at the end of February-beginning of March was our first experience with a vacation apartment rental and it exceeded our expectations. My husband and I were traveling with our 2 daughters, ages 8 and 13, and we were hoping to find affordable accommodations that would allow for the girls to have their own bedroom and better yet, own beds. The apartment provided more than enough space for everyone to spread out. As previous commenters have stated, the kitchen is well stocked and hot water holds up for all to take a shower (including a lengthy teenage girl’s shower) The true highlight for the apartment is location, location, location. The apartment’s courtyard location keeps it wonderfully quiet, yet it is just steps from a bakery across the street (great for croissants, brioche and baguettes…all favorites of the kids), wonderful shopping of the Marais, and if you need staples to cook or clean up, a short 5 minute walk to a well stocked market. To the list of restaurants near by (which David has available in the apartment) we would add Mai Thai (just 2 blocks away at 24 bis, rue Saint-Gilles) and Au Bourguignon (a few more blocks at 52 rue Francois Miron) where our entire family enjoyed great meals. Walks to Musee Picasso and Pompidou are very easy, but with good walking shoes, we (including the 8 year old) found it quite doable to walk home from the D’Orsay area one day and the Sorbonne area another, even in February weather. We enjoyed meeting David who was readily available to answer questions and meet our needs, including arranging for a large taxi to get us all to the airport very early in the morning. We can’t wait to go back and recommend highly.

We just got back from our fourth annual stay at 39, rue de Turenne. It is like home for us. Spacious, quiet, and in the perfect location. David is charming and very helpful. I don't think I ever told David just how comfortable is the bed in the master BR. I sleep very well and feel terrific. Attention tea drinkers: the infusor and the strainer are our contributions. Enjoy them when you brew a cup or a pot of Pu-erh from Mariage Freres, only a few blocks away.
Owner response:Thanks ! Gotta try that Pu-erh.

We stayed in this wonderful apartment for two weeks in November 2006. There were three adults and we had plenty of room. The beds were extremely comfortable and plenty of room in the living room to use our laptop, watch cable tv, read or our favorite activity in the evening was to talk about our day's travels around Paris while drinking a glass or two of wine. Our landlord and host - David Korn - could not have been more gracious and welcoming us to this fabulous two bedroom one bath apartment in the Marais. There is a fabulous bakery across the street and the many grocery stores, produce markets, butchers, cheese shops, wine stores, cafes, and everything we needed were within easy walking distance. The kitchen has everything you need and lots of room to work in, lots of counter space. There is even a washer and dryer. The apartment is located on a busy street, but the apartment is between two courtyards and very, very quiet. You do not hear any street noise. There were plenty of towels (even wash/face cloths). The apartment was warm and we had the windows open most of the time. We cannot wait to return to Paris and stay in this apartment again. We have stayed in vacation apartment rentals numerous times, but again our host/landlord was the best experience we have ever had. Jerry Carrig

Free telephone calls were a huge plus to check in at home. Large bathroom with lots of shelf space and bathtub with shower. GREAT water pressure. We were two couples and quite comfortable here. David was very easy to communicate with, pre-visit and during our visit. It was so nice coming "home" every evening. Enjoy!

The apartment was wonderfully situated: this part of the Marais has a neighborhood feel, you are close to two subway lines and several bus routes, there is the Bastille market nearby on Sundays, a supermarket around the corner, numerous cafes and boutiques nearby and a wonderful bakery across the street. The apartment is comfortable, and it works well for a family with children. Having a washing machine, dryer and dish-washer was much appreciated. The cross-ventilation is excellent, although fans would also have come in useful for the hottest days (it was in the 90s during our stay!) David is an extremely pleasant and helpful host, and we would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to experience living like a Parisian. We would happily return to it.

Dear David, We had a wonderful time and the apartment was both charming and comfortable! We had a day trip to Normandy on Friday of that week, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Next trip I think we would like to stay at the Normandy rental. I must look that up. We got the biggest kick out of the "lift". We had to send the suitcases down one at a time. We especially enjoyed living in a place with local Parisiens. It was so nice to see the same neighbors each day with their cheery "Bon Jours". The bakery was fabulous and each morning I would run out in my sweats for Pain du chocolat, and croissants. The shops and restaurants were lovely and welcoming , and the Metro beautifully clean, and easy to access. Compared to our subway system, it was a treat, believe me. Thank you so much for renting to us. We had a ball. The Lucases On Friday, November 12, 2004

Owner response:The vacation rental owner's nightmare. I could comment at large on this customer's unsavoury attitude, unrealistic expectations, and obviously very limited traveling smarts, but I just don't have the time. References are available... below

We spent a delightful week here in July of this year. A lovely apartment and a wonderful location from which to launch oneself to enjoy the wonders and treasures of Paris. Enjoyed very much its proximity to Place des Vosges, the Picasso Museum, the excellent shops on St. Antoine as well as Turenne, a superb location in every way. The apartment was well appointed, very airy thanks to the crosswinds created by the location of the windows; was incredibly quiet for being in the heart of Paris and the beds were very comfortable. A real find, one that we would definitely seek out again on another trip to Paris. Highly recommended to all.

We spent three nights here in October 2003 with our 2 young children and it provided a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore Paris. Le Marais was a great neighborhood and the proximity to the bus and metro lines was invaluable. Place des Voges has a small playground, but the kids liked it anyway -- and it was a fun place to run off some steam! I would certainly recommend this apt to anyone... spacious, light, and very comfortable beds!

The apartment is spacious, clean, airy, well appointed and in a nice neighborhood with easy access to all of Paris. The tall windows allowed a great view of rooftops, floral window boxes in neighboring buildings and a dramatic thunder and lightening storm. Also, since we run our own business, the high speed internet connection was invaluable. I WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO OUR FRIENDS!

Not only are you four blocks away from two different metro stations, one served by the #1 line and the other by the #8, but you are a short half block from a very convenient bus, the #96 which travels by St. Michel, Odeon, and St. Germain before terminating at Montparnasse.

Our family of three stayed for five nights n June-July 2003. The apartment is incredibly quiet. Our windows were always open and you don't hear any cars. It is hard to believe you are in the heart of Paris. The apartment is well set up, beds are very comfortable and the bathroom provides room to move around (unlike some tiny bathrooms). Internet access is a breeze and it is so convenient having a washer and dryer. Supermarket right across from St. Paul metro stop, fabuouls bakery across the street (we often stopped twice a day there) and the wineshop next door has chilled wines ready on those hot days. David was helpful with directions into the city and other information. I would be glad to stay here again.

How lucky we were to get this apartment, contact with the owner was very friendly and helpfull. The Marais is thé number one location to stay in Paris, very safe, beautiful with it's Place des Vosges and topshops, close to all the important things to see. The apartment is the best, decorated just breathtaking. Immediately you feel like you're at home, it ís your home. Allthough it's right in the center of Paris, once you entered that huge wooden doors you feel like you're at the campagne somewhere in France. We loved everything and had a marvellous time there.
