Keywords:  Apartment

19th Century hat factory converted with art and style into a sophisticated apartment in the heart of the Marais.

Just one block from the Picasso Museum this apartment was completely renovated in 2007. It is detailed with taste and thoroughly modern in comfort and amenities. See photos below.

“The Cocteau” is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment with a fully equipped open “American” kitchen. There is both stair and elevator access to the quiet second floor (American 3rd floor). It is 60 square meters in size (660 square feet).

Located on the serene street, rue de Thorigny, the apartment was laid out and designed with meticulous attention to every detail. We have incorporated custom furnishings, antiques and original art. Traditional floor to ceiling windows over look the street flooding the living and dining areas with light. The bedrooms are located at the back of the apartment and have windows for excellent cross-ventilation. Each bedroom has built-in closets, high quality linens and mattresses and its own bathroom.

Here is what our first tenant said. “Let me say that the apartment is absolutely wonderful, and I will tell the world about it, believe me! It was just so comfortable, and aesthetically just perfect down to the last detail – you have great taste!”

Upon arrival, our American colleague will meet you to give you the keys, show you the apartment and be available should questions arise during your stay. We can also arrange for you to be picked up at the airport by a bilingual driver who will be waiting for you and will assist you with your luggage.

At the apartment you will find our personalized handbook which will have tips for enjoying the neighborhood, a list of our favorite restaurants, emergency numbers and instructions for using the appliances. The rental price includes everything except for possible extra phone charges although most calls are free even those to the U.S.

We provide every amenity you will need including a Mac laptop computer with wireless internet and a cell phone. Some cell phone calling time is provided and additional minutes can easily be purchased at SFR phone stores or at any Tabac.

LOCATION:
Our location is extraordinary with great restaurants, art galleries and fashionable shops at your doorstep. There are narrow streets that have not changed for centuries. You will be 1 block from the Picasso Museum, an easy walk to Place des Vosges, the Musee Carnavalet and the Pompidou Center. It is an easy stroll to Notre Dame and the Left Bank. Rue de Bretagne, famous for its food purveyors and its historic covered market “Enfants Rouges” is a few short blocks away.

TRANSPORTATION:
Excellent access to the metro. St. Sebastien Froissart is the closest metro stop - about a 5 minute walk.
Bus service is excellent as well.

We also have an adjacent one bedroom apartment “The Picasso” (see VRBO #156165). The apartments can be joined and rented as a 3 bedroom unit (see VRBO #197562).

December 2011 - A Wonderful Stay

Guest: W.H. (-)
Date of Stay: 12/26/11 Review Submitted: 01/05/12

Thanks for letting us stay in your great apartment. We especially loved all the extras (travel books, dishes and glassware, serving plates, etc.) It was much more than expected and made entertaining friends much nicer. After several visits to Paris apartments, most of which have been generally positive experiences, I think we have found a real jewell that stands out from the others. I hope we will get to stay again soon.

I just wanted to let you know (somewhat late) that we really enjoyed our June stay in your Paris apartment. The setup was perfect for our party of six with lots of space and no crowding. We also loved the location- quiet yet close to the center and a very short walk to the food shops and groceries to get dinner and even breakfast. The communications setup with calls to the US, cellphones and computers was outstanding. David was very helpful and always available and even the cleaning crew did an excellent job allowing us to get a little sleep the day we arrived as they setup the apartment. This was our first time in Paris and we just loved it. About the only real negative was our departure experience at DeGaulle airport. It's a confusing place and the staff, while friendly, seemed awfully slow and alot of the people in line with us were freaking out about not making their flights. We did OK, but I would definitely recommend getting there 3 hours ahead of the flight. Anyway, just wanted to let you know what a nice place you have and if we ever decide to return to Paris, we'll contact you first!

I really enjoyed my stay at this Paris apartment. It seems to have it all. The perfect “in “ neighborhood, so well situated for great little boutiques, wonderful neighborhood restaurants, access to the Metro and truly chic and comfy surroundings, and all the conveniences of home. You would really never have to leave the area if you choose not to but why would you go to Paris and do that?

The stay in the apartment was great, very spacious for paris standards, modern and convinient. In the heart of paris surrounded by great galleries and restaurants, yet quiet and private. Feels like a home away from home, loved all the info about the neighborhood provided. The pick up and drop of service to the airport was on time and pleasant, the apartment turnover though the parisian contact was easy, smooth and pleasant. Loved to browse nearby Avenue d'Bretagne for fresh and interesting food to cook and arrange at the apartment, everything- in terms of equipment and utensils- was there to have a great functioning meal. The large french windows open wide to let the Parisian atmosphere in on this quaint and quiet street in the heart of Paris. Will stay there again as soon as I can

Staying at this apartment on my first trip to Paris was a God sent! Located in the heart of Marais near various metro stops and fabulous boutiques, this stylish but comfortable apartment provided a “home away from home” feel. So much so, that despite the wonderful markets, delis, restaurants, and pubs that were just blocks away, my traveling friends and I decided to cook dinner and stay in a few nights during our stay. And if you are into art, you are in luck because the Picasso museum is literally two blocks away and there are other museums that are easily accessible by foot. In all, I would definitely recommend this apartment to others who are looking for a place to stay and want to feel like true Parisians!

Exquisite. Quiet. Modern. Parfait! If you are looking for the ultimate Parisian experience without the tourist-like feel, this apartment is where you need to stay. Walking distance from wonderful restaurants, steps from art museums, right in the heart of fabulous Marais neighborhood - I wouldn't go stay anywhere else in Paris. The accommodations were both comfortable and chic with an amazing modern kitchen for evening dinners overlooking the streets of Marais. Melissa, Peppina, José and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip and it was always lovely to know that at the end of an active day on the metro and beyond, we had a little place of our own to call home.

A Real Taste Of Marais Life

Guest: Sleepy Traveller (Los Angeles)
Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/09/10

We stayed here with our two teenage children. Well appointed and comfortable. Owners are very organized and their local greeter and driver make this an easy trip. All the modern conveniences of a North American apartment. HOWEVER, If you are renting this apartment, bring earplugs. Both bedrooms are situated on an indoor courtyard which is NOISY. There is a commercial paint/workshop space and you will get to know all your neighbors at all hours. Late night, early morning and the family upstairs have two noisy children. A true slice of noisy Marais Parisan life.

Owner response:Please see our many other positive reviews! We have guests who return regularly - as much as three times a year.
