Location: Rawsonville, Stratton Mountain, Vermont, USA (Rawsonville is 1.5 mile from Bondville on Rt. 30 at Rt. 100)

Accommodations:  House, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths (Sleeps 9-13)

DESCRIPTION: This 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house was originally built as a farmstead in the mid-19th Century. Since 1933, it was the summer home of noted art historian Meyer Shapiro from 1932 to 1992. New owners have completed a total renovation and winterization. Photos are posted. The house sleeps 13 people: one king, one queen, one double, one double futon, one bunk, and three single beds. There is room for air mattresses in the family room in the basement. Each bed is in a separate room, except for the basement bedroom which contains 1 bunk bed and 1 single bed.

LOCATION: The house is located half a mile off Hwy 30, and 2 miles from the entrance to Stratton Mountain from Hwy 30. More details below.

LAYOUT: About 2300 sq. ft. Two floors plus a full basement. Public spaces include a living room, dining room, kitchen with Vermont soapstone counter-tops, family room, and game room. The basement has two large rooms (a bedroom and family room) plus a compact full bathroom.

The house has two bedrooms on the second floor, two bedrooms on the first floor, and one in the basement. Three bedrooms are average in size and one is small. The basement bedroom is large. The upper four bedrooms face west and overlook the Winhall River. A game room on the second floor could be used as an extra sleeping space, as well. It has a double-sized futon/couch. The basement bedroom has 1 bunk bed and 1 single bed. The family room in the basement has 1 single bed.

The family room (12 ft. by 22 ft.) in the basement has a pool table and could be equipped with air mattresses to sleep several more people. There is a full bath located on each floor, including the basement (three bathrooms in total). The basement is finished and has a radiant heating system installed in the floor.

UTILITIES: Heat is radiator supplemented with a small wood stove in the dining room. Dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer included. An electric generator is available in event of electricity failure.

LOCATION:The house is located half mile off Hwy 30 aside the Winhall River along Goodaleville Rd. (pronounced "Goodyville Rd." locally) on a 25 acre parcel. Traffic along this road is extremely sparse. The house is about 2 miles from the entrance, from Hwy 30, to the Stratton Mountain ski resort. The nearest village, Rawsonville, is half mile away; it has a service station, an excellent pizza shop, and a sporting goods store.

The mailing address is 498 Goodaleville Rd., South Londonderry, VT 05155, even thouth the house is closer to Bondville than to S. Londonderry. However, Bondville is in the next county, so the mailing address is S. Londonderry. There is no mail service to the house, although FedEx and UPS do deliver to this address.

Goodaleville Road is a gravel road about 2 miles long and connects Hwy 30 and Hwy 100, passing through mixed hardwood and softwood forests growing along the Winhall River. Goodaleville Road is plowed by the township in winter, and it is nearly level between the house and Route 30. The house is built about 5 yards off the road, with a short driveway. Just across the road, about 15 yards away from the house, is the shallow Winhall River.
