This place is great! The location is very convenient just south of "town" but not far from anything. The unit is very comfortable and well appointed. If you need a beach chair, it's there. Umbrella, not a problem. Snorkel and mask, yep. I could not believe the view. Every afternoon we watched sea turtles right below the window. In the morning we saw tropical fish swimming in the water from the living room window. This was my favorite trip to the Big Island. Highly recommended !!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Sorry to say we discontinued the snorkel gear due to three times we have ended up with 10 left flippers and everything else missing. We suggest you purchase a set at Costco or rent inexpensive at Snorkel Bobs.

Don's properties are truly amazing. The other reviews talk about the view and location, but words can't do it justice. The view is crystal clear watching surfers in the distance and turtles below looking for dinner as the tides come and go. The properties are perfect location for anything you can imagine and the free covered parking was nice. It is five minutes to everything from a great snorkeling beach to the grocery store. This was our sixth trip to the islands in the last three years and our first trip to the Big Island. These condos are the best lodging we have had the opportunity to stay in, and we are already planning to rent one of the condo's again this year. Lastly, thank you Don. You were helpful, knowledgeable, and very accommodating with our special needs. I look forward to working with you in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spend four night in the condo and it was awesome. What a beautiful location and felt very comfortable there. The place is great, the pool area is really nice and the view.....I can't so anymore. The condo is well equipped with everything one needs. Don was great and gave us a lot of good tips for the island. We had a wonderful time on Kona and would book again in a heartbeat. While I agree with others regarding it being a bit dated, it was certainlly clean and comfortable....no complaints. Internet worked very well. It has no A/C but one simply needs to open the sliding doors and feel the ocean breeze...Beautiful. Thanks Don.......hopefully our paths will cross again. Dealing with Don, the owner, was very good from making the reservation to the final instructions for our stay. The rental location was excellent and the condo itself was surperb, riight on the ocean front with a beautiful lani. Being an end unit next to a small public area did present some problems with noise but wasn't a big problem overall. The condo itself was clean upon arrrival and easy to enter with the instructions provided and the condo building, parking and amenties were excellent. The unit needed updating but otherwise excellent. We would stay there again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Wonderful location, amazing view. Thin slice of land below us, with bright fish, crabs and sea turtles in tide pools -- then only surfers, sea, horizon. We'd sit each morning and watch dolphins play out across the water. The unit was beautifully-kept and -outfitted. Communication, from first inquiry to follow-up, was outstanding.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The lanai is as advertised. You can watch surfers from 6am until 6:30pm. We spotted several turtles every day in the tidal pools from the lanai. Sun hits the patio from about 3:30 on, we ate breakfast here everyday. The condo is dated as far as decor is concerned but it's roomy and bright. There are pool noodles, a boogie board, and a couple of beach chairs which we made good use of. The unit is 3 miles from town. We walked a few times as there is a good shoulder along Alii Dr. At night we crabbed for $10.00 with a tip. One mile the other direction is a restaurant called Anthony's, it was an excellent spot and we had our best meal there. Consider looking at unit 201 in the Banyon Tree - it has the same owner but has been updated.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: Glad you had a great time ! Not sure where the dated unit comment is a first. All of the living room furniture was replaced this year including the dinette set, the stainless appliances in the kitchen were replaced last year, and the rest of the furnishings are brand new within the past 3 years.

Everything Don listed as being available was just as he said. The condo is big and roomy. The view was absolutely beautiful. The large, covered lani was perfect for watching the turtles, surfers and beautiful sunsets. Really great having a washer/dryer in the unit, so convenient. Other amenties we enjoyed was the covered garage, an elevator to the 3rd floor and the pool/grill area. Property is well maintained and close to Kailua. We enjoyed the snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach I have already recommended this to friends. We plan on staying here with our future visits to Kailua Kona. I loved this condo. It was a great location and the view was amazing! The wrap around floor to ceiling windows were breathtaking, and sitting in the living room, it felt like you were in the middle of the ocean. The lanai was big and perfect for eating dinner at night, and the 2 sliding glass doors gave a cross breeze from the ocean which would cool the condo down at night. I would definitely stay here againRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The condo was everything the owner said it was - a great lanai, terrific view, close to everything we wanted to see and do, including snorkeling, dinner cruise pier, and a beach for bogeyboarding. Alii Drive is a great road for walking and jogging. There is a public beach access path next to the condo, so many locals are surfing all day right out in front. It makes for a great show. Our favorite nearby attraction is the Ocean Rider Seahorse Farm located just south of the airport near the national energy lab. We also liked driving Saddle Road over to Mauna Kea and Hilo. Plan on spending a day at the Kilauea Crater. It isn't often that you can hike on an active volcano! The owner was very helpful, and the place was clean and well maintained. We highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Banyan Tree:
Have traveled the Hawaiian islands for years and feel like a tour guide there . When I stayed at Banyan Tree it blew me away and I knew I had to own there. I have'nt seen anywhere in Hawaii that the ocean comes in like it does at Banyan Tree. Poipu Beach on Kauai comes in a close second. The people in Kona are absolutely the friendliest people I have encountered on the islands with the feel of old Hawaii still intact. Kona is my favorite city in Hawaii and in the future Banyan Tree will be my next home.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Best surf spot in Kona. Cool Breezes always keep it so nice and comfortable. I dislike ever having to leave and always look forward to returning. Kona is magical.
