The Queen's Cottage was built in 1860 and recently refurbished in 2007. You have your own entrance and access to a beautiful courtyard shared with 2 other cottages. The property is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the historic district near fairytale-like Washington Square with Spanish moss draped oak trees and picturesque historic homes. You are 2 blocks from River Street which is a meca of restaurants and shops in old cotton warehouses lining the Savannah River. You are also steps from the famous Pirate's House Restaurant, one of the oldest buildings in Savannah and famous for its honey pecan fried chicken. Museums, restaurants, shops, theater, etc. are all within a short walking distance.
I personally have never stayed in an accommodation as pretty and unique as the Queen's cottage. There are 2 rooms that are separated only by columns, so although the square footage is around 600 sq. ft. it is open and spacious. There are high ceilings, beautiful 150 year old heart pine floors, chandeliers, original oil paintings, antiques, a new travertine encased bathroom (sorry, space did not allow for a tub), sitting and eating area, and an efficiency kitchen. The decor is upscale and comfortable with luxurious draperies, velvet loveseat, oriental rugs and a leather banquet with comfy pillows. The bed is sumptuous. The cottage comes equipped with a flat screen TV with premium cable and DVD. There is a hair dryer, iron and ironing board and Ipod docking station. We also have Wi-Fi. The kitchen will be stocked with coffee and tea supplies and bottled water and a basket of snacks to begin your stay.
There is ample parking on the street directly in front of the cottage.
Don't miss this opportunity to experience Savannah, listed by Conde Naste in the top 10 places to travel next year, in your own private, historic cottage Suite. |
