Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
We are Mark & Wynne! We've been happily married for 10 years. For many years we've been fascinated by southwest Colorado, so we finally made a dream come to life by purchasing this home in Pagosa Springs to enjoy and to share it with others! Both of us work in healthcare, and Wynne also works as a biologist. We have a great love for being outdoors & experiencing life to its fullest. Our outdoor pursuits include hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, bicycling, kayaking & rafting. All of this is even more fantastic when we can share it with friends & loved ones.
Why the Owner Chose Pagosa Springs
It's hard to find a place more spectacularly beautiful than the area in & around Pagosa Springs. It is a small, quiet town with a surprisingly large list of things to do! From soaking in the soothing hotsprings to skiing the amazing snow at Wolf Creek, to hiking the many fantastic trails into the Weminuche Wilderness & the South San Juan--it's a paradise for anyone who loves the outdoors & a little "down time." Our home, the Pagosa Home of Warmth & Light, showcases the beauty of the region, with spectacular mountain views & a peaceful vantage across the street from Lake Forest.
The Unique Benefits of this House
In the summer, we love to awaken to cheerful birdsong & wind down our days relaxing on the back deck in the 2-3 person swing where we can enjoy fantastic sunsets. In the winter after a day on the snow, we love warming ourselves by the woodstove in the large dining area with flickering candles & a good meal we've made in our well-appointed kitchen, then laughing together while we play a game or two. Regardless of the season, the home is full of light, and incredibly comfortable. We take great pride in having outfitted the house with as many environmentally-conscious features as possible. We are thrilled that Pagosa Springs boasts places to purchase food raised by local farmers. Or if we desire a break from cooking, Pagosa Springs has some truly tasty restaurants. We've also discovered the warmth of the locals here. From our neighbors to the folks at check-out counters, from proprietors to servers at restaurants, the people here & friendly and helpful. What more is there?

Wynne & Mark, We very much enjoyed our stay at your home last weekend. Everything about our stay was enjoyable and the house was clean and comfortable for us. We enjoyed the location and your peaceful neighborhood. The extra efforts you've taken to provide recycling, energy efficient lighting and appliances, and Trader Joe's soaps were all appreciated. The weather was a bit cool on Sunday night, so we lit a fire and were pleasantly surprised at how long the wood burned. Is your wood pile walnut or oak? (It's oak.) The folk & bluegrass festival was very good, as it is every year. The Folk West people are all so friendly and we had an good time seeing some very good bands and accomplished musicians. We've been to Telluride Bluegrass, Rockygrass, Teton Bluegrass and many others, but we really enjoy the location and atmosphere at the Pagasa festival; highly recommend spending the weekend at the festival if you have the chance. We'll keep your place in mind when we plan our next ski trip to Wolf Creek. Thank you again.

Thank you so very much for sharing your home with us. We had an absolute wonderful time. This is the only way to fly. We felt very at home and have never felt sooo relaxed before coming to Pagosa. We always fill our time with hiking here. We saw 3-4 deer, 2 wild turkeys, 2 coyotes or they could have been wolves?! This place is soo alive. Thanks for everything. We'll be back!
