This was our second year staying in this beautiful cottage on Captiva. Everyday was summer. We loved being able to walk the beach in the morning and then relax for the rest of the day. The cottage is right on the gulf and is very convenient for access to and from the beach. My husband and I both love to swim and the swimming here is great. The water is warm and clean. The sunsets were beautiful each night and watching them from the screened lanai was fantastic. Another reason we love Captiva is that you can walk to everything. One thing we learned this year is if you are renting through this Owner, as part of their service they have a local property manager who offers free papers (NY Times, USA Today, local paper), cookies and water. There is an office right across the street from the general store. Stopping for the papers each morning was part of our walking routine. Our favorite place to eat is the Mucky Duck. Even if you have to wait for a table it's so much fun listening to the live "Jimmy Buffet" style music and enjoying a drink in the balmy Florida evening. The cottage is fully equipped, clean and comfortable. It has everything you need including comfortable beach chairs, a small cooler, beach towels, and umbrella. All in all it was a great week and we are planning on another return next year.

Owner response: Thank you for the nice comments about your stay in our cottage. It was nice to have you return this year and great to know you can come again in 2014. We love having Captiva lovers come back time and again and really appreciate the great care you show our cottage. Have a great year. See you next Spring!

We had a wonderful time in our beautiful beachfront cottage. In fact, we are coming back to the same cottage for several weeks next year. The cottage was well-decorated and clean. Everything was provided to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The unit was close enough to the entrance of South Seas so that we were able to walk to many stores and restaurants. We could also go out of our front entrance and walk the beach to town. We were able to enjoy the large, beautiful pool, tennis court and barbecue area. The facilities were never crowded. The owners were very easy to work with, and they checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. A perfect vacation.

Owner response: Thank you for your nice note. It was a pleasure having you for your long visit. We love meeting folks who love the area as much as we do and who take such care of our beach cottage. We really look forward to having you return next year! Have a great year.

This was our fourth trip to South Seas, and our first VRBO experience. We were able to get so much more room for our money through VRBO. The cottage was awesome! Clean and roomy, it had everything we needed! Just steps from the beach and pool, with a closet full of beach toys--even personalized beach towels. We also appreciated the in-room washer/dryer. We loved being able to walk/bike to Captiva Village and enjoyed having shops and restaurants so close by. Would come back in a heartbeat!

Hi Lynn, We had a wonderful respite from the cold & snow in your wonderful cottage on Captiva. We arrived via St. Augustine & Daytona Beach--so were ready for the relaxing pace of the island. Everything at the cottage was remarkable & we couldn't have asked for more. We were a little disappointed when we had to leave it for our annual week on Sanibel. Probably the most astonishing part of our time there was seeing the Bobcat--not once but twice!!! It was amazing! Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing week. Janet

My family of 18 just returned from a week in Captiva and we LOVED the Beach Cottages. This unit was our FAVORITE and was so bright, beachy, clean and beautiful. We loved our days at the beach and swimming in the pool in the evenings. The location was incredible and we would go back tomorrow! Thanks for sharing your Beach Cottage with our family!

Thank you, we had a wonderful week! I loved the sandy path to the beach, which we enjoyed every day! Your place is furnished so nicely and I loved the bed linens. A very bright and fresh look! I would like to be back, sitting on the beach right now! The beach towels were a nice touch, as well as the abundant supply of beach chairs and toys. We took our kids picture on the beach for our holiday card. Thanks again and Happy New Year!!

We had a lovely stay in this beach cottage. It was clean, well equipped and perfectly situated for wonderful early morning power walks along the beach. We loved the bright, colourful decoration and extra homely touches. I have no hesitation in recommending it to any future holiday makers.

I would highly recommend this property for a vacation rental. It was beautifully decorated for the beach location and was very clean and bright inside. The beach was very close and private so that it was not crowded at all and we were able to view dolphins and interact with the birds on the beach. The pool was nicely maintained and although there were families with children at the pool, the atmosphere was very relaxing and the other tenants and rentals were respectful of others privacy. We actually had two huge rainbows on the beach which we considered an omen that this would be a memorable vacation. The cottage is easily accessible to downtown Captiva and the shops just outside of the resort. It was a very relaxing, magical, and special place and we will definitely be back. The owner was wonderful and answered all of my questions with immediate responses. Don't hesitate! Our group consisted of two adults and 1 child (7)

Recently, my husband, 11 year old daughter and I spent a fabulous week at this property. The descriptions provided in the listing were accurate and Lynn, the owner, was more than happy to answer any and all questions I had leading up to the trip. We LOVED that the unit was only a few short steps from the beach and were amazed how it was so uncrowded and we saw so many dolphins, birds and even a manatee. Captiva is lush, quit and special! We went parasailing, jet skiing, grilled and relaxed. Perfection!

My husband and I recently spent a very relaxing week at this wonderful cottage. First of all, Captiva is a very special place. It's tropical, lush, has beautiful beaches, and wonderful, funky restaurants. The beach cottage made our stay in Captiva even that more special. The place is clean, well equipped, and has a comfortable screened lanai where you can watch incredible sunsets each evening. It's location right on the Gulf of Mexico makes a spectacular view from the cottage. We loved waking up each morning and looking out at the beautiful turquoise water. My husband and I have already booked the cottage for next year. Can't wait!

We have been coming to Captiva Island for over 18 years, and we have finally found our favorite location to stay. The owners and management company were extremely pleasant to work with. The condo is nicely furnished, welcoming, and just steps from the beach and pool. We highly recommend this beach cottage to any couple or family and plan to stay here again.

We stayed at this South Seas beach cottage over the 4th of July 2011, and my husband, my son and I all loved spending time together there. This beach cottage looked just like the website pictures and felt like home! It is is nicely decorated and fully equipped, great for cooking with fresh gulf seafood and handling trip laundry. Above all, it's the view from the lanai, with beautiful sunrises and gorgeous pink-purple sunsets, that I remember best. Just walk down the stairs, enter the private path and one of the best stretches of beach in the world is straight ahead! We've traveled to Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean, yet we always return to this barrier island. We honeymooned here, and our son gathered shells on Sunset Beach almost as soon as he could walk. Thanks for a lovely week at the beach~ I know that we'll come back to this cottage. (For July guests: I do recommend booking a 4th of July bay cruise~ we saw local fireworks with a literal front row seat, while viewing displays from other communities in the night sky.)

Owner response: So glad you loved it like we do. Please contact us again when you can return.

We stayed at this wonderful 2bed/2bath beach cottage in March 2011. It was perfect for our family of 3 (7 year old daughter). It is a lower level unit, there were absolutely no neighbor noise issues. Very short (1 minute) walk on the private path to the fabulous, uncrowded beach- perfect for shelling and building sand castles. Plenty of manatee and dolphin sitings. Private pool just out back door. Rental does not include amenities at South Seas Plantation Resort- which we did not need. The unit was very clean, and the owner was very pleasant to work with. A bit of a walk/bike ride into Captiva Village if you don't have rental car, but worth it. A few fabulous meals at Key Lime Bistro. Did not care for the Green Flash restaurant. We love having a kitchen, so we don't have to eat out for every meal. We did have a rental car, but met several people that had taken airport shuttle from Ft Myers and then rented bikes for their stay on Captiva. The only 'FYI comment'- if you are in need of a great TV, the unit needs updates. Older TV that works, but DVD player did not. WiFi access was provided and good. We were so tired at the end of the day from our beach and pool play that we crashed into the most comfortable beds. Bring beach towels (or buy there-). Overall, very highly recommend this unit and owner. We hope to return every year!

My family stayed in this cottage 7/19 through 7/26. We found the cottage and Captiva to be wonderfully relaxing. No crowds, and everything we needed was available in the condo-from hair dryers to beach chairs to internet access. My husband caught a twelve pound snook fishing from the beach, and the shelling was a blast! The opportunities for activities on Captiva appeal to many age groups. for example, my husband was able to pursue fishing and kayaking; my 17 year old son was able to enjoy fishing, as well as the waverunners at YOLO Jim's;my 13 year old daughter was able to parasail and play tennis; I was able to enjoy some reading on the beach. Great destination, nice cottage, terrific view. But do be certain to get groceries before arriving in Captiva; prices are definitely higher on the island.

My family just returned from the South Seas Plantation on Captiva Island - 6/28/08 - 07/05/08. We stayed in this beach cottage on the plantation grounds. Although we were in the resort we did not have access to some of the resort amneties - restaurants, beach towels, beach umbrellas, beach chairs, trolley service, golf cart service. However, do you really need these things? Definitely not. First of all, the beach is the same beach. You can rent umbrellas and chairs but the unit had them for us to use. Bring your own beach towels and there goes that need. The restaurants - don't need them. Within Captiva Village there are an abundance of restaurants that were delicious - RC Otter, Cantina Captiva, Mucky Duck and the Green Flash which had the best food on the Island. Also you can venture out to Sanibel with an abundance of restaurants to choose from. Plus the unit had everything you need if you wish to have dinner in including gas bbqs by the pool. You do have access to a pool and tennis courts and of course the most beautiful sunsets and shells. This Beach Cottage is ideal for a family of 4-6. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, pull out sleeper sofa, full kitchen/dining, screened linaia and a washer/dryer. It was very clean when we arrived and was exactly as described and pictured on this site. Just stock up on breakfast/lunch foods before entering the island. The causway toll is $6 so once you cross over, you don't want to leave and just prior to entering, there's a Publix to pick up all the necessities. Also, the island itself is very expensive. You'll pay double for anything you buy so shop wisely. We've been to many Caribbean islands and this island felt as if that's where I was. The water is beautiful and if you have your choice of going here or the Bahamas, choose Captiva. It's the same water and you're in the US mainland. You can't beat the accomodations!
