Following a week in Paris, we (two retired American couples) rented a car and drove to this charming cottage near Josselin with the aid of the excellent directions provided by the British hosts/ owners of the property. Everything was as described in the more than adequate information presented when we were making our decision about where in the Britainny/ Normandy area we would stay. The common living spaces are large and comfortable; the kitchen is well stocked for gourmet cooking; the beds are comfortable; the baths, laundry, heat, and wood burning stove, are clean and well functioning. The hosts provided plenty of information about day trips, nearby activities, restaurants, walks, shops, etc. Although it was mid-October when we visited, the weather was picture perfect. We loved walking and touring in Josselin and the area right around the house. We took day trips to Mont.St Michel, the Carnac alignments, St. Malo, Dinan and several villages nearby. The owners were fantastic communicators before our visit. The friendly caretaker was available by phone when we had a couple questions. This was the perfect follow-up place to be after a hectic week in Paris. We totally relaxed here. The Saturday Farmer's Market in Josselin is fabulous!! We bought a freshly roasted "farmer's" organic chicken, fresh veggies, fresh cheese and bread, came home and had a fabulous outdoor picnic dinner with great French wine. We would definitely recommend this lovely cottage for families, and couples traveling together. We're 65ish and there were only two downsides: first, it is hard to buy gas/ petrol if you don't have a special card (but people are nice and they will let you use their card if you give them cash), and the bathroom for our bedroom (NOT the master bedroom, but the 2nd bedroom) was down a flight of stairs, but that wasn't a big problem for us. This is a real gem of a place.

I wanted to e-mail you to thank you for providing us with such a fantastic place to stay. It's a beautiful house and is by far the best equipped property I have ever stayed at. We would very much like to stay again and hopefully we will. October 2011. Gloucestershire, UK)

Just to say thank you for letting us hire your longère in Brittany. We had a fantastic time, not least because the weather was amazing but also it was very comfortable, welcoming and well considered for guests. Thank you once again, and we will definitely be recommending to others. September 2011, Andover, UK)

We thought the cottage was absolutely wonderful. It was superbly presented, very large and had everything you could require. We loved the large lounge where the focus was for conversation and not watching TV. Too many houses are set up just for TV. We loved the huge master bedroom and window seat. Our daughter loved the ‘magic garden’ at the back and explored even in the rain. Wonderful. All the books were fantastic. My husband didn’t manage to finish the Breton Peasant book though. We are already recommending your cottage to friends. Thank you. We will be back!

We thought the cottage was carefully, thoughtfully and comprehensively equipped. Loads of space, comfortably furnished. A really pretty garden. Overall an excellent place to stay. The best cottage holiday we have had in 20 years.

We stayed in this lovely house for a week. The location was quiet but with the village and the town nearby there was everything that we needed. The weather wasnt fabulous, but we were cozy and warm inside. The house well maintained and all equipment was in good condition. The detailed description that the owners provided meant that we knew exactly what to expect. We explored the lovely villages that were nearby and went further afield to the prehistoric sites on the coast. A great stay and we would stronly recommend this characterful home. (There were only 2 Aussies this time.)

Had an excellent week at the cottage - it was everything we expected it to be: impossible to fault! A wonderfully relaxing base from which to explore that part of Brittany: we did go to Josselin (of course) and Vannes, as well as St Anne d'Auray - so took in Sarzeau and Locmariaquer, but spent quite a bit of time locally: three Nantes-Brest canal walks + the local villages, including Lizio. Ate twice at L'Olivier restaurant - amazing value, and very good food. Only met one of your neighbours – Marthe, chatted for five minutes or so, but next door family seemed to be there only at weekend, and we never managed to speak. Would recommend La Ville au Tady to anyone - sets a high standard, and very reasonably priced. Shropshire, UK.

We thought the cottage was very good, especially good value for money! We’ve never seen a self catering property so well stocked. The cottage was bright and clean inside and out, the wood burner was fantastic on the cooler evenings. Outdoors the gardens are great and we saw lizards for the first time ever. Our first visit to France was super, mostly because of the quality of your property. The weather wasn’t great so having a fantastic place to stay made all the difference. It is obviously a well loved and cared for family home and that feeling made us feel relaxed. Thank you to the owners and cleaner and caretaker for all the hard work that has gone into providing such a lovely holiday home.

I am so sad to leave this darling little house. I have been impressed over and over with how well the house is appointed. You've done a fabulous job of providing almost everything one could want---and more. You've anticipated every need and question. I am sure I'll never find a house as perfect as this one to rent in France. I also have been delighted by your design sense. As a former interior designer and now, artist and painter, I pay attention to paint colour and wallpaper choice and textures of rug, upholstery, and furnishings. I love how understated yet authentic your decor is... and how cosy and cheerful the whole place is. So, thank you again, for sharing this beautiful little jewel with me. I have been so happy here. I will never forget it.

Just a quick note to say well done and thanks to you and your wife for providing such a marvellous holiday property. We all agreed that in the several years we have been renting holiday cottages, yours was the best equipped and had the best guide to the property and the attractions in the area. Truly there was nothing that we needed. Our children particularly loved the lizards - which I realise nature had provided, not you - and the way you had cut the tracks in your back garden. Once again, thanks - we know which property to check availability on first when we next want to visit Brittany!

Having regretfully returned home last night, I wanted to send you an email to say thanks for providing such a wonderful holiday home / experience. From receipt of the pack which seemed to leave no stone unturned, when we turned up last Saturday afternoon, we were amazed at the quality of the cottage and gardens. You really had thought of everything when it came to making our stay as comfortable as possible. We were lucky to have great weather with which to enjoy the area, but what made it even better was the pack you left in the property which had ideas for days out. Without that we wouldn’t have enjoyed a peaceful walk though Lizio, or found the Lac au Duc which our kids enjoyed tremendously. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer, but we promised ourselves that should we return to that area that we would stay for 2 weeks – hoping that your cottage remains available. Many thanks for your touches and consequently our holiday. We will certainly be recommending this cottage to our friends and family.

A beautiful, cosy, well equipped cottage. Wonderful garden. Lovely location. To be fair, these statements do not do justice to the fabulous cottage! It was just so wonderful! The cottage was very well equipped but also lots of nice ‘homely’ touches e.g. candles, placemats, DVDs, loads of local info. Fabulous garden – children really enjoyed the swings, the space and the lizards!! The location was peaceful and beautiful.

The cottage exceeded our expectations. We thought that it was very beautiful and peaceful outside, homely and relaxing inside – just what we like! We really loved staying in the house and appreciated all the personal touches, especially the information, books, maps etc. The countryside was perfect for walking, and cycling was excellent even if hard work up hills. Thanks for providing such a happy holiday home.

A wonderful stay at your lovely cottage. All the carefully prepared instructions & information about the area were very welcome. We particularly enjoyed visiting Lizio by bike and the other beautiful local villages, as well as the local walks by the canal & nearby rivers. The antiques shop in Josselin turned up some surprising finds as did the estate agents! And it was great to come back to a roaring fire each night. Thank you for such a comfortable base from which to explore this beautiful area.

Arriving at La Ville au Tady was everything we expected - inviting, homely, comfortable and well equipped. Jasmin (7 yrs) and Chloe (5 yrs) have had a great time in the garden running from front to back, on the swing, then the bikes, then the trampoline, so much to do and on the go all day.

In a word, your cottage was lovely. We liked the size of the cottage; it was scrupulously clean and really well equipped. We have rented so many cottages, villas, etc that I have lost count – your approach to renting is definitely the most professional we have come across. Your cottage needs no improvement!

A peaceful haven, away from the stresses of a hectic working week. Within easy reach of some of Brittany’s most interesting towns/villages. We really enjoyed our autumn break, but can see the potential for a fabulous family break during the warmer months with a BBQ in your beautiful garden. As we pulled up – it looked so welcoming with shutters open. I spent the first quarter of an hour investigating with “oh look at this” repeated over and over.

Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday! We felt warmly welcome in your lovely cottage and more like visitors than paying guests. You have made it very 'homely' and the attention to detail is fantastic - from candles, logs to cleaning materials, loo paper etc etc. We appreciated very much the maps and the books about the area and it was very nice of you to 'introduce' your neighbours to us in your information pack.
